Diamond Hitch Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Diamond Hitch versus other gooseneck hitches?
What difference does it make with the location of your hole in the bed verses others?
Why should I spend the extra money for this Gooseneck Hitch over the competition?
Where we mount the Diamond Hitch on the frame of the pick up is one of the many reason. The locking mechanism is located on the hitch ball, saving installation time and resulting in a visual lock. We install the Diamond Hitch 1” to 4” in front of the axle, while others are about 4” to 8” in front of the axle. What that means is you can turn sharper before hitting the cab or busting the back window with the trailer. Also, you don’t have to put the tailgate up when you are in the middle of hooking up to your trailer because the ball is to far forward and you hit the front of the trailer with the tailgate.
Will the Diamond Hitch cause more wear on my trucks suspension and chassis? Why not?
No, the trucks are made to haul the load in the back of the truck, not the front. So when you have the hitch too far in front of the rear axle you are putting a lot of extra weight on the front axle; in turn wearing out the front end faster then normal. Hitch location on Diamond Hitch is actually in the optimal location to reduce too much weight transfer to the front end.
Why would I buy this over any other? Is the warranty different?
For the simple unlocking and locking of the ball. We believe that if you have to get in the back of the truck to turn over the ball you should have the lock there too; not in the fender well. Also, the safety of that locking mechanism is visible so you can see that the ball is locked in the cylinder. Blue Ox has a limited lifetime warranty on the Diamond Hitch with the backing of 24/7 customer care to help out with any problems you might have.

Will the Ball seize-up?
Yes, All turnover balls will get stuck at some point if you don’t maintain them.
Do you have a Fifth Wheel hitch to sting in to the Diamond Hitch?
No, not at this Time.
Do I have to Drill in my Frame?
Yes. On some models like the Ford and the New GM trucks
Will the Dodge hitch slide up and down the frame on how it is mounted?
No. The Frame Clamps are mounted on ether side of the overload bumper stop, so it can not slide.
Do you have a hitch for ½ ton trucks?
We don’t suggest putting our current gooseneck hitch in a ½ ton truck because of the truck’s weight rating but we plan to offer a solution in the near future.
What makes this hitch easier to install?
The Diamond Hitch takes up less room on the truck frame, so fewer things have to be relocated or removed to install it. You also don’t have to install a wheel well ball locking mechanism
Can I convert this to a Fifth Wheel?
Presently you would need to use an aftermarket “Ranch Adapter” instead of a Fifth Wheel but we are diligently working to offer on a fifth wheel option.
