a wireless Bluetooth connection for your cell

TravelPilot Lucca 5.2
Mobility has made the world smaller. In the same way, the portable navigation devices from Blaupunkt have shrunken in size but in contrast, they have also grown signifi cantly in performance. The new portable Entertainment Navigation Lucca 5.2 shows you the best way to get where you’re going in 41 countries in Europe. A precise, convenient navigation function has been combined with entertainment, all in a very elegant design. Listen to your favorite music (MP3/WMA) while you navigate. And the fun doesn’t stop there. Use the Picture-Viewer to look at your holiday photos or transform your Lucca 5.2 into a drive-in theater. Use the video function to play your video fi lms or connect your video player via the Connect Cradle. In addition, the Connect Cradle also lets you connect a back-up camera, a gaming console or a DVB-T tuner. So you can see, the TravelPilot Lucca 5.2 really is more than just a portable navigation system. To make operation particularly easy and convenient, use the touch screen to access a maximum of 3 menu levels or move the sensitive slider to activate the function you need. Thieves, on the other hand, have a real problem on their hands. A 4-digit PIN code doesn’t give crooks much of a chance. And to make sure that you never get bogged down in traffi c along the way, the device uses the integrated Traffi c Message Channel (TMC) to immediately include traffi c messages and warnings of congestion in route calculation. Dare to go where you have never gone before with the TravelPilot Lucca 5.2.

To be honest, they should
really be called sound stations: The
new radios from Blaupunkt can do almost
anything – except compose, that is. Do you
want to take your digital music collection into your
car or use your cell phone in combination with the
stereo system? Then just plug in your MP3/WMA player, a portable hard disk or your cell phone. Brilliant sound, highest quality and elegant design are always
part of the picture. Many of the radios have also been
equipped with a particularly large display with exclu-
sive looks and excellent design in terms of opera-
tion and title browsing. There’s a model to suit
every taste. And we still call that selection,
even though customization might be
the better way to describe it.

Bremen MP76
This is what tuning looks like: With the Bremen MP76 you can transform your car into a concert stage on wheels. This radio has been designed to meet the most demanding needs in terms of sound and tuner performance. The undisputed Number One for individualists.
All the components work in perfect harmony: The digital TwinCeiver equipped with two receivers delivers brilliant radio reception while the self-adjusting equalizer (DSAmax) provides for richly detailed, differentiated and harmonious sound. It works with four channels and 108 bands and adjusts itself automatically to the acoustic conditions in your vehicle. The sound characteristics are rounded out perfectly by the adjustable, active 2-way frequency crossover for fl exible, high-precision speaker control. Is that a delight to your ears? “autoHifi ”, a German trade magazine, says Yes. In their test, the Bremen car radio reached the reference category.
If you don’t want to only see brilliance but hear it as well, just take a look at the high-resolution fully graphical display: VarioColour lights up in virtually any color and really shows off with multiple-line browsing through the MP3 lists. Regardless of whether the music comes from a CD or an SD/MMC card. Bremen MP76 also displays real class with its many convenient features – take the TIM traffi c info memory, for example: It records traffi c messages with a timer so that you always know exactly what’s going on on the road. Get to know the Bremen MP76 and you’ll be able to tell: It can do anything – and leaves nothing more to be desired.

Seattle MP57
No matter where the tunes are playing, they had better come out of the Seattle MP57 – a browsing machine equipped with outstanding display technology and in exclusive front design. The generouslysized, high-resolution TFT display takes discreet but impressive advantage of all the options of a color display. Never before has the simple selection of an MP3 song from a CD generated so much anticipation of the results. Thanks to the Plug ’n’ Play principle, MP3/ WMA players can also be docked into the front Aux input – it doesn’t get much quicker and easier than that. And the Seattle MP57 inner values are convincing proof that it is cut out for more. Equipped with a 3-band equalizer, 4-channel Preamp-Out and subwoofer output, it’s just waiting to be upgraded to a full-fl edged sound system.

You’ll feel what sound can really do – from the lowest octave to the highest treble. The speakers in the Velocity series are sound machines. They will rock your ride – by producing some of the most powerful sound you’ve ever heard. They reproduce the entire frequency spectrum with high dynamics and absolute precision. Without compromising sound pressure levels. Hearing is believing.
· Optimized for highest load handling capacity and maximum sound pressure levels
· Particularly stable fiberglass cones
· Solid aluminum die-cast baskets for the Vw subwoofers
· Large dual voice coils for all subwoofers
· Steep frequency crossovers for the Vc systems with selected components

For absolute bass control: The subwoofers in the Velocity series will really get you moving. On any trip. Sturdy cones, solid diecast aluminum baskets and powerful dual voice coils create maximum sound pressure levels. Quality makes the difference right down to the last millimeter. Particularly when a lot of space is one thing you don’t have. The installation depths of the Vc systems can be cut by an additional three millimeters when the magnet cover is removed. The magnet diameter is reduced at the same time – and that can make a real difference.

Is it the looks or the performance? Both are undeniably great. The amplifi ers in the VA series defi nitely combine exclusive design with powerful technology. These amps meet even the most demanding individual requirements. The mounted aluminum profi les make the amps look really elegant; without the profi les, their compact form comes to the fore. And their technology is really something to see: Thanks to the “thermal throttle” circuit, these amplifi ers can handle even the toughest temperature loads in style.
· The “thermal throttle” circuit reliably prevents a shutdown of the amplifiers under all kinds of operating conditions
· Flexible design with removable end and side profiles made of solid aluminum
· Visually seamless installation of several amplifiers possible
· All amplifiers include cable remote control for level adjustment
Superior performance where others let you down: The VA Series.

Setting an excellent example: Innovative technology and the high workmanship quality so typical of Blaupunkt make the amplifi ers in the VA series reference models.
They keep cool when things heat up: The “thermal throttle” circuit in the amplifiers in the VA series makes sure that the music keeps playing when things heat up. This technology reduces output performance in “emergencies” by up to 3 dB to stabilize the heat balance in the output stages. And it works so well that you’ll hardly notice it.

music wherever you go.
Up to now, you had to take your car along with you to the beach. Because only the impressive sound emanating from the open trunk can really transform a simple BBQ into a rocking beach party. So, this was the question: Can a subwoofer be made even more mobile as simply installed in a car? Yes: Velocity 2Go. This system lets you take powerful sound anywhere. Velocity 2Go is the world’s fi rst active subwoofer that works in the car (with your car hifi system) as well as outside the car as a portable stereo hifi speaker. It can also be operated by battery and is able to accommodate virtually any signal source.
· Active subwoofer in the car – Fully active stereo hifi speaker outside of the car

Velocity 2Go 6
The Velocity 2Go 6 combines opposites that were thought of as “uncombinable” up to now. In the car, it’s a real subwoofer. Outside of the vehicle, it’s a portable top-class stereo speaker. At home, it’s a compact hifi system. And it provides for rich sound enjoyment anywhere you take it. The Velocity 2Go 6 is the fi rst speaker system for a new, fl exible world. Without compromise, but with fantastic sound and unparalleled design.

Everything under control: As a subwoofer, the Velocity 2Go’s integrated amp electronics provide everything you need to adjust the level, cut-off frequency and phase.
No need to lift a fi nger: You can select the operating mode manually, – either “subwoofer” or “hifi speaker” – but you don’t have to. In connection with the optional QuickOut, set the switch to “AUTO” and the Velocity 2Go will automatically choose the correct setting.
No fear of contact: Velocity 2Go has been equipped with three types of jacks – a cinch jack, high-level speaker inputs and a
3.5 mm jack for MP3 players.
Sound in the car. Around the car. And anywhere you want.

Sound at your fi ngertips: What you might have already become accustomed to with active THb subwoofers works exactly the same way here. The Velocity 2Go is equipped with automatic power-on, which also functions in connection with the 3.5 mm jack for the MP3 player.

Anything but quiet: Velocity 2Go is so versatile that these are only a few ideas of what you can do with it here. Let your imagination run wild – you are sure to fi nd lots of other uses.
Velocity 2Go QuickOut mount
Loud is cool: The bass-refl ex channel affords more pressure in the bass range and also works to cool the integrated output stages. The more you demand of the Velocity 2Go, the stronger the air fl ow in the channel and the higher the cooling performance for the output stages.
Never miss your connection: The optionally available QuickOut mount makes changing operating modes a breeze. Insert or re- move the Velocity 2Go from its mount with just one push or pull. There are no cables to connect or disconnect.
Hifi performance pure and simple: All the components are consistently designed for sound quality. Particularly long-stroke bass with large magnet systems, silk domes, four separate amplifi ers for fully active control over 18 dB, crossover frequencies and an integrated equalizer for frequency response correction provide an excellent technical basis.
Velocity 2Go 5
Sound
44|45
Incredibly practical: There is a pocket on the back of all the Velocity 2Go models in which you can store the connection cable, an MP3 player or a second set of rechargeable batteries.
Small but strong on sound: Even with such compact dimensions, the Velocity 2Go 5 is a real subwoofer. It is a perfect fi t for compact cars and is easy to carry with you. Its enormous sound richness will fascinate you.
A very bright invention: The Velocity 2Go sets new standards even in the choice of materials. Among other things, it has an enclosure made of solid die-cast aluminum on the front and rear sides.
Quality you can touch: The handle is completely made of aluminum. And new materials were also used for the enclosure. An innovative composite material made of aluminum and ABS gives the body exceptionally high stability despite its lightweight.
Inexpensive operation: The Velocity 2Go was specifi cally designed for operation using economical, meanwhile amazingly powerful mignon (AA) rechargeable batteries. The batteries can also be recharged in the device – a separate battery recharger is not required.
It all fi ts: Even if the Velocity 2Go has been designed to accommodate MP3 players, the Lucca 5.2 navigation system also fi ts perfectly into the cradle on the top.
Tap into any source: Use the connection cable (included) with the
3.5 mm plug to hook up virtually any MP3 player directly via the earphone jack.
A real live wire: Whether at 12 V in the car, plugged into the wall at home (cable included) or battery-operated (optional) – Velocity 2Go has power to go anywhere you want to go.

THb 210 A
Ultra-slim for rich bass sound: The THb 210 A is particularly compact (approx. 9 liters of net volume) and still delivers the sound pressure of a big subwoofer. And it’s a real space-saver, too. A separate amplifi er is not required because a powerful output stage is already integrated in the aluminum enclosure. With automatic power-on and speaker inputs, the THb 210 A is the ideal component to add to existing OE systems.

THb 200 A
Small and smaller: With an installation depth of no more than 71 mm, this subwoofer is even more compact than the THb 210 A. It is the ideal choice for particularly compact vehicles. And connecting the unit is just as easy as installing it – a remote signal is not required to switch it on.

Sometimes you simply have to have an amplifi er: for rich sound and low basses. Car radios already installed in the factory are rarely equipped to afford such music enjoyment. Nevertheless, it is becoming increasingly more diffi cult to replace the pre-installed models provided by the vehicle manufacturer with aftermarket systems. And in leased vehicles, it is usually out of the question to make any permanent changes – original cables can almost never be cut. Blaupunkt has the solution for more power: The THA PnP amplifi er series offers a powerful amp to retrofi t into virtually any vehicle. It is not necessary to change any existing wiring. The installation is just as easy as it is ingenious and doesn’t generally take any longer than half an hour. The trick is in the system. Take a closer look at the THA PnP amplifi ers.
· PnP connection
· Ultra-compact
· Minimum power needs
· Direct Aux input (except THA 1250)
· 2 ohm-stable
· Cable remote control for BassBoost included (THA 1250 and THA 555 only)
1) Remove the radio
4) Connect the PnP extension cord to the PnP adapter
Say goodbye to bulky tool kits: Up to now, anyone wanting to install an amplifi er needed a whole range of different pliers, screwdrivers, special wrenches and often even a soldering iron at the ready. Nowadays, sometimes all you need are the mounting brackets to remove the original radio. And thanks to the vehicle-specifi c adapters, you don’t need to become an electronics engineer.
2) Plug the correct PnP adapter into the radio
5) Connect the PnP extension cord to the amplifi er
3) Connect the original wiring harness to the PnP adapter
6) Mount the amplifi er and return the radio to its original position
THA 475 PnP
Strong, when others go weak: The THA 475 PnP is compact and a real powerhouse at the same time. Intelligent design has made it possible to reduce this amp’s dimensions by approximately two thirds compared to conventional amplifi ers in this performance category. And its installation is also much easier – thanks to the innovative PnP connection technology.
Our motto is: save space. Thanks to its extremely compact dimensions, this amp can be easily installed virtually anywhere. Gone are the days when amplifi ers almost always had to be installed in the trunk because of their size. Center console, glove compartment, under the front seats or behind the dashboard are the convenient installation locations of the future.

Low on power consumption, high on performance: The THA PnP won’t get its wires smoking – but your ears might. They get all the power they need from the original wiring harness in your vehicle. And after that, almost all the input power is transformed into music. And not into heat.

Simply effi cient: The transformers using the completely new PlanarPower-Plant technology save space and work with virtually no signal loss. Which makes the outstanding overall effi ciency of the THA PnP amps possible in the fi rst place.
Ready to go even without a signal: When connected via the highlevel inputs, the THA PnP amps don’t need a control signal from the radio to switch on. The amp generates its own remote signal, which can also be used for other external components.
From a single mold: The sidepieces on the THA PnP amplifi ers are made of die-cast aluminum. The pre-drilled holes in them can be used to mount the amplifi ers.
No fear of the “diagnosis”: Thanks to the intelligent power-on switch, connecting a THA PnP amplifi er to the speaker inputs of an OE radio instead of speakers does not lead to any error messages in the central vehicle computer.
“Conventional” works, too – If lack of space forces you to look for extremely compact dimensions, but you still want to connect the amp as usual –with a cinch plug and screw terminals – then these amps are the perfect choice for you as well.
The sound pipeline: Wherever you install the amplifi er – in the rear of the vehicle or in the trunk – you’ll always fi nd a connection cable in the right length. Two different lengths are available (2.5 m and
5.5 m).
Bass power on command: Use the cable remote control included with the THA 1250 PnP and the THA 555 PnP to conveniently adjust the bass level of the subwoofer from the driver’s seat.
For a direct line: If your existing radio is not equipped with an Aux input for an external signal source, the THA PnP amplifi ers (except THA 1250 PnP) have the exclusive “Direct Aux input” from Blaupunkt. Use it to connect such devices as a portable MP3 player or a navigation system.

A
Angle
Depending on where the car radio is installed, the reading angle of the display can be adjusted to best suit the driver.
Audio output
The audio output power of a car radio or an external output stage measured according to different measurement standards.
RMS power:
Continuous power with a sine wave, measured at 10 % THD (DIN 45.324) for car radios or at 1 % THD (DIN 45.500) for amplifi ers or another THD as indicated.
Music power:
Continuous power with a complex signal (music signal), measured at 10 % THD (DIN 45.324) for car radios or at 1 % THD (DIN 45.500) for amplifi ers or another THD as indicated.
Max. power:
Maximum short-term output power possible, important for extreme level peaks.
Audio streaming
Allows the wireless transmission of music data via Bluetooth, e.g. from a cell phone to the USB Bluetooth interface.
AutomaticSound
AutomaticSound, also known as GALA, controls the volume in relation to the driving speed. Important: the speed signal must be connected to the car radio.
Aux input
Stereo preamp input to which external audio sources can be connected – e.g. a CD changer, MP3 player or the iPod via the iPod interface. As an alternative to the Aux input connection on the rear side of the system, the Front Aux input is a 3.5 mm stereo jack located conveniently on the front panel.
Aux naming
External sources, e.g., portable music players, can be assigned an arbitrary name (max. 16 characters), which then appears on the car radio display when this source is selected.
B
Bass Boost
The Bass Boost control can be used to adjust the bass reproduction of the amplifi er. The adjustment range normally extends from 0 dB to + 12 dB and ensures increased deep bass. Bass Boost permits rich, powerful base sound from relatively small subwoofer enclosure volumes.
Bluetooth (integrated)
Allows the wireless connection of a cell phone to the car radio to provide hands-free operation and call answer/termination via the radio. The cell phone must be equipped with a corresponding Bluetooth interface that meets the Bluetooth 1.2 standard and supports the so-called “hands-free profi le” (HFP 1.5).
Brightness
A menu is used to adjust the brightness of the display and night design to the cockpit illumination. Separate settings can be selected for “headlights on” and “headlights off”.
C
Calibration microphone
Special microphone required for automatic calibration of the equalizer (DSAmax, DEQmaxEX). This microphone is already included with the Bremen MP76; it is available as an accessory for other devices.
CD-Text
Many CDs now already include additional information on the artist, the name of the album and the names of the individual tracks. The CD-Text function can be used to show this information on the car radio display.
Center-Out
Center channel generated from the two front channels. It requires an additional external amplifi er and a speaker in the center of the dashboard.
Clock
Time display. The exact time is synchronized via the RDS-CT signal.
Coaxial speaker
2-way speaker in which the tweeter is positioned in the centre of the woofer on one axis.
Combination antenna
Combination of different types of antennas in one enclosure/rod. There are duplex (e.g. AM/FM radio/ GSM) and triplex antennas (e.g. AM/FM radio/ GSM/GPS). This means that only one antenna is required on your car to ensure optimal reception for different applications.
2-way system, in which the chassis (tweeter, woofer, possibly subwoofer) can be installed separately to optimize the sound/installation situation.
Corridor function
Thanks to the latest chip technology, the navigation system stores all relevant data along the specifi ed driving route (corridor). Listen music from CD or MP3/WMA and navigate throughout Europe fully dynamically (traffi c jam avoidance) at the same time, without changing CDs, as long as you do not leave the corridor.

DAB – Digital Audio Broadcasting
Digital radio
DAB antennas
In contrast to the familiar analog radio (AM/FM
0.145 – 108 MHz), digital radio is broadcast with its 2 bands (Band III 174 – 240 MHz, L-Band 1452 – 1492 MHz) in a higher frequency range. That is why it is necessary to add an antenna or replace the existing AM/FM antenna before it is possible to enjoy uninterrupted digital radio listening pleasure and the reception of extensive data services (news, traffi c messages, traffi c congestion maps, car park information, stock-market reports, display of artist and song title, etc.). In this department, Blaupunkt offers 5 different antennas to cover the digital radio frequency range. These include single antennas to simply add to your existing system or combination antennas to replace the old antenna. Depending on the model, the combination antennas also offer AM/FM and/or GSM in addition to DAB.

Conventional reception
Direct signal
Comparatively circular reception range of a normal car antenna: both the transmitter signal and the reflected signal are received.
Reception with DDA

Reflection
In principle, the DDA process mimics the reactions of an extremely quick, automatic directional antenna – similar to TV “rabbit ears” that deliver just “snow” or perfect reception depending on just a small adjustment. When used in car radios, the DDA process works with two independent antennas and receivers, whose signals are digitized using intermediate frequency analog-digital converters. The digitized data is then fed to an adaptive algorithm with extremely low response times. Thus, the two intermediate frequency signals are combined so that the antenna can gain up to 3 dB of antenna power even for weak reception fi eld strength levels. In areas with strong reception, the second regular receiver, the socalled RDS background receiver, is then freely available. Switching between DDA operation and RDS background reception is quick and inaudible, controlled by a logic that evaluates the current reception conditions. This guarantees the radio listeners the best possible reception and rapid frequency switching at all times, without annoying station searches.

system. The computer has enough power to handle the 4-channel self-adjustment of 27 graphic equalizer bands (= 108 bands in total). This creates a sound quality that remains unparalleled to date and can also be adjusted to your personal taste. Signal time alignment for the audio signal guarantees a true-to-life, concert-like panorama. Dynamic Noise Covering (DNC) automatically adjusts the volume, the equalizer and music dynamics to the current noise background in the vehicle. And this feature not only regulates the level, it also adjusts the sound to the frequency spectrum of the driving noise.
A spectrum analyzer, fascinating effect sound options for Club, Stadium, Cathedral, Theater and Concert as well as sound presets round out the virtually unlimited opportunities to individualize your sound!
Parametric Bands in DEQmax/DEQmaxEX:
For especially easy operation and outstanding adaptation to the complicated acoustic conditions in modern vehicles, the DEQmaxEX equalizer uses six fully parametric bands (adjustable mid frequency, quality and level) with automatic calibration function (in systems with DEQmax, the parametric equalizer must be adjusted manually). In addition, you can also choose individually from fi ve pre-defi ned sound curves for different music styles.
Automatic equalizer adjustment with the DSAmax and DEQmaxEX:
To keep things simple and ensure that the best possible sound is what you get in the end, Blaupunkt has developed an automatic self-adjusting function that measures the problematic frequency response individually in every vehicle. All you have to do is to connect the calibration microphone (comes included with the Bremen MP76) with the ISO connection box and press the AUTO key in the equalizer menu. After just a few seconds, the sound will be noticeably more harmonious, richer in detail with greater differentiation, as the annoying frequency peaks are reliably balanced out. To satisfy personal tastes, all the settings can also be adjusted manually afterwards. Alternatively, the sound-related or voice-optimized sound preset curves can also be selected.

Digital radio/ DAB – Digital Audio Broadcasting
Digital radio standard that, in contrast to analog radio signals, makes it possible to transmit a great deal of data. In addition to audio signals and texts, it is also possible to transmit programassociated data in the form of images and HTML pages. Even moving images are possible. With digital radio, many familiar programs are now available in CD quality, along with an entire spectrum of completely new stations.
Interference
Should there ever be any problem in the transmission of a digital signal, it is usually only a small part of the information that gets lost. And the listener won’t even notice: the digital correction process simply recreates the original signals. This guarantees interference-free listening enjoyment every time.
Reception convenience
Digital radio programs are transmitted over just one frequency. This means that, once you have tuned into a program, you will be able to listen to it anywhere within reception range without having to adjust your set.
Versatility
Even though digital radio is bound to replace FM as the radio standard sooner or later, the Blaupunkt digital radios all still include an FM receiver as well.
Additional reception
In the future, digital radio will also be able to receive such additional multimedia information as telematics services, information on song titles, weather reports and MP3/WMA fi les.
Sound quality
Digital radio provides the same excellent sound quality as a music CD, even at top speed on the motorway.
Future standard
It is already possible to pick up digital radio almost everywhere in Germany. Full coverage is expected to be achieved by 2004. And since digital radio is a European standard, it can already be received in many European countries.
Program diversity
Digital radio doesn’t mean you have to make do with fewer programs. In Germany, there are already more than 150 digital radio programs on
and that number is growing.

Integrated Magnet System
To provide for greater stability, the speaker’s driver magnet is not screwed onto the back of the basket as usual, but rather integrated into the basket. This affords advantages not only for highpower-handling subwoofers, it also increases overall reliability.
IPP (Injected Polypropylene) cone
The IPP cone developed by Blaupunkt is a mechanically very stiff cone. With the addition of a synthetic material to the conventional PP cone, the injected IPP cone becomes noticeably stiffer and produces a louder, more linear and precise sound in the entire frequency response range. The IPP cone is used in all coaxial, triaxial and component systems in the GT series and TH series.
IR remote control
A handheld or steering-wheel mounted remote control unit whose signal is transmitted in the invisible infrared range. Products that are mounted on the steering wheel have been certifi ed by the German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV).
ISO connection technology

Navigation (dynamic)
The Traffi c Message Channel is a free service provided by radio stations; its traffi c information is continually taken into account when computing routes. This information permits proactive, dynamic traffi c jam avoidance on freeways and main national roads.
Navigation systems, “TravelPilot”
Active route guidance system for motorists using speech output and a screen/display. Route guidance is based on navigation software (CD/DVD/ SD-card or preinstalled in internal memory) and navigation computer (TravelPilot). Locating via satellite (GPS), speed signal, gyroscope, and data comparison with the digital map, depending on the respective system. All TravelPilot navigation systems are suitable for use and simple installation in all classes of automobiles.
Portable Navigation Systems
Portable navigation systems can be used quickly and fl exibly, whether on foot, in your car or in a rental car. Fast, inexpensive installation (no connection to the speed signal is required), ease of handling and use, and rapid guidance ensure
forward and convenent road navigation
straight every time,
all the time.
Radio Navigation Systems
Radio Navigation Systems (1 DIN) are integrated in the car radio and are controlled via the userfriendly user interface. You receive understandable driving recommendations via the car hi-fi speakers – even while you are listening to music – thanks to the corridor function. In addition, information is provided in the form of arrow symbols or the permanent map display. The multistandard drive plays navigation/MP3/WMA/CD-/ CD-ROMs and installation is child’s play thanks to optional speed signal integration. This ensures perfect integration without cable salad, adapted to your cockpit illumination.
Stand-alone navigation systems
On-screen navigation systems consist of a color monitor (16:9 or 4:3) and a separate navigation unit for loading the navigation data (DVD or CD). These systems are suitable for retrofi tting in all vehicle models and classes. Thanks to easy operation, fast pan-European route fi nding, and precise driving recommendations, drivers can navigate even more conveniently and reliably.
Neodymium tweeter
Tweeter equipped with neodymium magnets. Neodymium has much greater magnetic fi eld strength than conventional materials and drives speakers very powerfully despite the relatively small magnets. This makes it possible to design very small tweeters, which nonetheless produce outstanding sound.

Navigation, Radio Navigation Systems
RDS – Radio Data System
RDS is a service provided by radio stations. In addition to the usual music and speech programs, other information is transmitted in the form of coded digital signals that can be evaluated by the car radio. The following RDS services are currently available:
AF – Alternative Frequency:
The car radio automatically selects the frequency with the best reception for the program you are currently listening to.
EON – Enhanced Other Networks:
When a traffi c announcement (TA) is broadcast, the radio will automatically switch from a station that does not transmit traffi c information to one that does in the same broadcasting network.
M/S – Music/Speech:
In future, a number of radio stations will differentiate between music and speech programs. A separate tone setting (lowering bass and treble) can be selected (via DSC) for speech programs.
PI Code:
The car radio uses the PI code to identify the radio station.
PS – Program Service:
Allows the display of the station name.
PTY – Program Type:
A function that is supported by an increasing number of radio stations, whereby the car radio can search for stations broadcasting specifi c program contents (e.g. news, rock, pop, sport, etc.).
RT – Radiotext:
Additional information supplied by the radio station on the program (e.g. title of the program, name of the artist, etc.).
Reading angle (horizontal/vertical)
This describes the range within which the picture displayed on an LCD monitor can be easily identifi ed. The values indicated are for the viewing angle from the side (horizontal) and a vertical (from above/from below) position (e.g. horizontal + 45 degrees/- 45 degrees).
Reinforced seam surround
Subwoofer with a max. power >1000 watts are subjected to enormous mechanical pressure. The joint between the surround and the cone in particular can tear under the strain of continuously high cone excursion. An extra seam stitched to join these two components reliably prevents damage to the speaker.
RP – Release Panel
Effective system of theft protection for car radios whereby you take part of or the entire front panel of the radio with you when you leave the vehicle. The radio will not function without the RP. While a CD can be directly inserted into the slot in a regular Release Panel, a button must fi rst be pressed on the Flip Release Panel to open it by 90°.
S
Scan
Scans all radio stations within reception range (Radio Scan), preset station buttons (Preset Scan) or music titles (CD Scan, CC Scan).
Sensitivity
Measurement for the volume of a speaker at 1 watt of input, measured at a distance of 1 meter. Sensitivity is measured in dB.
SHARX®
Digital adaptive fi lter designed to optimize channel separation in the receiver. Even station signals that are extremely close to one another are separated cleanly. SHARX® is part of the DigiCeiver and TwinCeiver concepts.
Signal time alignment
Asymmetrical sound impression at the driver’s position without signal time alignment
Electronically corrects the asymmetrical seating position in the vehicle by delaying the music channels so that the sound waves emitted by all the speakers reach the listener at the same time. The signal time for the Bremen MP76 can be adjusted right down to the last centimeter. It is possible to select different seating positions.
Silk dome tweeter
Silk dome tweeters use impregnated silk as the cone material. Silk works with virtually no annoying resonance of its own and delivers a perfectly balanced frequency response. The impregnation process gives the cone material the stability it requires to handle high power levels.
S/N – Signal/noise ratio
Maximum possible ratio of the music signal to the basic noise, measured in decibels. The higher the value, the better the quality of the equipment.
Differentiated liveconcert sound impression at the driver’s position with signal time alignment
Softkeys
Keys at the side of the car radio display that are allocated different functions on the display depending on the sound source or the operating menu, e.g. tuner station keys, CD Mix, Mag Mix, Scan, AUD Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader, Equalizer etc.
Sound presets
Preset equalizer
Source tone memory
The settings for bass/treble can be adjusted separately for each sound source to compensate for differences in sound quality.
SPC (Spun Paper Cone) cone
The SPC cone developed by Blaupunkt is an extremely sturdy and reliable paper cone. Thanks to the unique polishing process and the mixture of nine mineral materials, the mechanical SPC cone stands apart because of its high degree of stiffness. The SPC cone is used in the GTb 1200 and GTt 1200.
Speed signal
Impulses from the electronic speedometer/ odometer that are used to measure distances traveled and for GALA.
Speller, automatic
Entering destinations in Blaupunkt navigation systems is as easy as can be – you are offered only those letters that respectively make sense: Nonexistent sequences of letters are simply grayed out.
Station list (dynamic)
Listing and automatic updating of all the radio stations within reception range. The advantage: you no longer need station keys and have access to all the available stations.
Sub-out
Separate preamp output with preceding lowpass.
Subsonic fi lter
The subsonic fi lter can be used with an amplifi er when a subwoofer is connected. It can be set to protect the subwoofer from mechanical overload due to low frequencies that cannot be heard by the human ear. Thus, the subsonic fi lter is able to increase the power handling and the subjective maximum sound pressure of the subwoofer.
The subsonic fi lter is used in all output stages of the THA series and Velocity. A corresponding adjustable fi lter can be switched on in the Bremen MP76.
Subwoofer
Additional low bass speaker, which is driven by an integrated or separate amplifi er with a lowpass.
Technology

Subwoofer tube
A subwoofer in a round, acoustically balanced enclosure. Particularly well suited for vehicles in which the trunk is not physically separated from the passenger cabin. If maximum loading capacity is required in the trunk, simply remove the subwoofer tube from the car.
Sub X-Over
Subwoofer crossover.

A system developed by Blaupunkt with a digital voice memory that can record up to 4 traffi c messages with a total length of 4 minutes. The TIM® memory updates itself continually. A function that even works when the car radio is switched off in a freely selectable time frame.
TMC-Out FM
Car radios with this output are able to forward TMC data to any Blaupunkt navigation system connected for dynamic route guidance (separate connection cable required). Prerequisite: the radio must be tuned into an RDS station that transmits TMC data.
TMC – Traffi c Message Channel
A digital traffi c information data channel with constantly updated data on traffi c conditions. TMC receivers allow the user to select data by entering such information as traveling direction, area and road class. The latest information, selected to suit the user’s individual needs, is then available at the touch of a button. Likewise, the data is used for integration in the dynamic route guidance (automatic traffi c jam avoidance).
Total harmonic distortion (THD)
Measurement for distortion that indicates the ratio of the sum of the powers of all the harmonic frequencies above the fundamental frequency to the power of the fundamental frequency. Rule of thumb: lower values for the same performance are usually a sign of better sound quality.

Antenna
AntennaAntenna
Advanced development of the DigiCeiver with two receivers in one car radio.
The TwinCeiver, which boasts two DSP-based receivers, underscores Blaupunkt’s outstanding position in perfect radio reception: crackling and noise due to multipath reception caused by apartment blocks in cities or mountains in the countryside now virtually belong to the past.
More distant stations, which were once well outside of the usual reception range, are now within reach as well: the TwinCeiver continuously evaluates the digitized signals from two antennas and combines them to create a strong, clear signal that is free of interference. This process, which was developed by Blaupunkt engineers, is called DDA (Digital Directional Antenna) and it mimics the reactions of an extremely quick, automatic directional antenna – similar to TV “rabbit ears” that deliver just “snow” or perfect reception depending on just a small adjustment.
If the reception is currently so good that the second antenna is not required, or if only one antenna is connected, the radio can be switched to “dynamic station lists”. This means that the display will only show those stations that are actually within reception range – which saves you a lot of searching.

Five senses.
Four principles.
One design.
Design
88|89
For decades we have had just one goal: to make driving as enjoyable for you as possible. And not just when you are listening to our impressive sound, using our highly precise navigation or watching an exciting fi lm. Your experience begins even before that: with your fi rst visual impression, your fi rst touch, the fi rst time you operate one of our devices. And their extraordinary design is certainly not an end in itself. On the contrary: it’s the result of four different principles that we follow in designing any product – beginning with
even the very fi rst sketch: All our systems must be easy and intuitive to operate. They must exhibit high functionality. They have to have the unmistakable, appealing Blaupunkt “look”. And last but certainly not least, they must have a character of their own. A character that not only implies technological competence but makes it a true emotional experience.
Blaupunkt. Period.
Best in Test.
From the car radio to navigation right on up to sound. Just take a look at our test winners. And pay a visit to
www.blaupunkt.com, too. This is
where you can fi nd out everything
about the best of the best.
New goals, new ways to get
there: Blaupunkt has never stopped
when it comes to innovation. All its products
continually undergo further development – in
motor sports as well as in the fi eld of Car Multimedia.
That’s why we – as an offi cial sponsor of the German
Touring Car Championships – will be able to present you
not only with series winners on the race track but with test winners in leading trade journals in the future as well. All the systems continue to get more intelligent, more con-
venient and more powerful. Pioneering navigation already
makes it possible to detour traffi c congestion ahead. Radio
reception in CD quality is no longer just a dream. And if you
take a look at Blaupunkt’s travel entertainment, your
eyes are sure to light up. From precise navigation
systems right on up to a perfectly customized
sound experience, everything focuses on
just one goal: a safe drive and the
best in entertainment.
