Instructions for use (applies to both SERPA® and standard models):

1.Make sure the handgun is unloaded and that the holster selected is the correct model for your handgun. See the original package for fit information. CQC Carbon Fiber Holsters® are marked on the back of the holster as to the primary model of gun designed to fit in the holster. Because of their high level of performance CQC Carbon Fiber Holsters® are very gun specific and only the guns listed in the fit information should be used with a particular holster. DO NOT under any circumstances attempt to use a non-listed or modified gun in the holster.

2.Using an UNLOADED handgun push the gun into the holster as far as it will go. On both models you should both hear and feel the engagement of the passive detent mechanism. Also on the SERPA Active Retention System® models, the trigger guard lock will engage and the finger-activation platform will return to its outermost position.

3.Passive retention adjustment for both the SERPA® and non-SERPA® models is the same. Using a screwdriver turn the Phillips screw head located on the front of the holster one full turn counter-clock wise. Insert the UNLOADED handgun onto the holster as far as it will go. Gradually turn the adjustment screw clockwise one 1/8 of a turn at a time. Then remove the UNLOADED handgun each 1/8 turn of the screw from the holster to determine the amount of retention on the handgun.

A small adjustment makes a big difference in the retention feature of the holster.

CAUTION: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN! Keep adjusting until you are satisfied with the degree of retention. The factors controlling the degree of retention on your holster and gun are your personal preferences and the intended use of the holster and gun.

4.The active retention feature of the SERPA® holsters require no adjustment however the passive feature should be adjusted as in step three.

5.Drawing from both models of CQC Carbon Fiber Holsters® is very simple. On the SERPA Active Retention® models simply grasp the handgun in a natural firm grip. Your index finger will naturally find and align itself with the finger-activation platform. Depress the finger-activation platform releasing the lock mechanism while smoothly drawing the gun from the holster. Do not attempt to pull up on the gun until you have depressed the finger-activation platform. Standard models (Non-SERPA®) require only that you remove the handgun from the holster briskly to overcome the passive retention detent. To re-holster both models return the handgun to the holster and push it firmly into the holster until you both feel and hear the retention feature(s) lock in. Additionally on the SERPA Active Retention® models you will also observe the finger tray return to its outermost position.
