Assembly
Fitting the appliance to the wall (fig. B)
The appliance can be fitted to the wall to provide a convenient charging point for batteries.
Find a suitable indoor location near a mains outlet.
Transfer the distance between the mounting slots (13) on
the back of the appliance to the wall.
Mark the location of the mounting holes (14) on the wall.
Drill a hole (ø 6 mm, approx. 35 mm deep) at each of the
marked locations.
Insert corresponding wall plugs into the holes.
Insert suitable screws (6 x 50 mm) into the plugs.
Hang the appliance on the screws.
Fire hazard! Avoid short-circuiting the contacts of a detached battery (e.g. when storing the battery in a toolbox).
Connecting the appliance to the mains (fig. A) Warning! To ensure correct functioning, always make sure
the adapter plug is correctly oriented with the terminal.
3
Align the adaptor plug (12) with the terminal (5).
Gently push the plug into place.
Connect the mains adaptor (11) to the mains.
Battery operation
The radio may be operated on battery power. The running time depends on the battery type and voltage.
Use
Charging the battery (fig. C)
The battery needs to be charged before first use and whenever it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were easily done before. When charging the battery for the first time, or after prolonged storage, it will only accept an 80% charge. After several charge and discharge cycles, the battery will attain full capacity. The battery may become warm while charging; this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures below 4 °C or above 40 °C. Recommended charging temperature: approx. 24 °C.
To charge the battery (15), slide it into the receptacle (9).
Check if the red charging indicator (8) lights up.
The battery will become warm while charging. After approx. 3 hours of charging, the battery will be sufficiently charged for use in regular applications. After approx. 6 hours of charging, the battery will be fully charged.
Remove the battery from the receptacle.
Fitting and removing the battery
To fit the battery (15), line it up with the receptacle (9).
Slide the battery into the receptacle and push until the battery snaps into place.
To remove the battery, push the release button (16) while
at the same time pulling the battery out of the receptacle.
Operating the radio (fig. D)
Turn the volume control (1) clockwise to switch the radio
on.
Turn the volume control (1) counterclockwise to switch
the radio off.
Volume control
Turn the volume control (1) to the desired level.
Maintenance
Your Black & Decker charger does not require any maintenance apart from regular cleaning.
Warning! Unplug the charger before cleaning it.
