A BATTERY OPERATED UNiT with integral batteries or a separate battery pack must be recharged only with the specified charger for the battery. A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery.
USE BATTERY OPERATED UNiT ONLY with specificallydesignated batterypack. Use ofany other batteries may create a risk of fire.
AVOID accidental starting. Be sure switch is in the locked or off position before inserting battery pack. Carrying units with your
finger on the switch or inserting the battery pack into a unit with the switch on invites accidents.
DO NOT use unit if switch does not turn it on or off. A unit that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
DISCONNECT battery pack from unit or place the switch in the locked or off position before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the unit. Such preventative safety measures reduce the risk of starting the unit accidentally.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
zZWARNING: For safe operation, read this manual and
manuals originally supplied with tool before using the charger.
The battery pack is not fully charged out of the carton. Before using the battery pack and charger, read the safety instructions below. Then follow charging procedures outlined.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The battery pack can
explode in a fire. Toxic fumes and materials are created when
battery packs are burned.
Do not charge or use battery in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
Inserting or removing the battery from the charger may ignite the dust or fumes.
If battery contents come into contact with the skin,
immediately wash area with mild soap and water. If battery
liquid gets into the eye, rinse water over the open eye for 15 minutes or until irritation ceases, ff medical attention is needed, the
battery electrolyte for Li-ion batteries is composed of a mixture of
liquid organic carbonates and fithium salts.
Contents of opened battery cells may cause respiratory
irritation. Provide fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical
attention.
z_WAR NING: Burn hazard. Battery liquid may be flammable ff
exposed tospark or flame.
Charge the batterypacks only in BLACK+DECKER chargers.
DO NOT splash or immerse in water or other liquids. This may
cause premature cell failure.
Do not store or use the tool and battery pack in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 105°F (40°C) (such as
outside sheds or metal buildings in summer).
z_WARNING: Never attempt to open the battery pack for any
reason, ff battery pack case is cracked or damaged, do not insert into charger. Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that has received a sharp.,blow, been dropped,
run over or damaged in any way (i.e., pierced w_tha nail, hit with a hammer, stepped on). Damaged battery packs should be returned to
service center for recycling.
Z_WARNING: Fire hazard. Do not store or carry battery so that
metal objects can contact exposed battery terminals. Forexample, do
notplace battery in aprons, pockets, tool boxes, product kit boxes, drawers, etc., withloose nails, screws, keys, etc.Transporting batteries can possibly
cause fires if the battery terminals inadvertently come in contact with conductive materials such as keys, coins, handtools and the like. TheUS
Departmentof TransportationHazardous Material Regulations (HMR) actually
prohibit transporting batteriesin commerce or on airplanes (i.e.,packed in
suitcasesand carry-on luggage) UNLESS they areproperly protected from shortcircuits. So when transportingindividualbatteries, make sure that the
batteryterminals are protected and wellinsulated from materials that could contactthem and cause ashort circuit. NOTE:M-ION batteries should not
be put in checked baggage.
STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
1. The best storage place is one that is cool and dry away from direct sunlight and excess heat or cold.

WHAT TO DO iF THE UNiT JAMS: (FIGURE M}
z_CAUTION: TURN OFF UNiT AND REMOVE BATTERY FROM TOOL.
Ifthe unit motor stops, the fan has become jammed. If this
happens, turn the unit off then remove the battery. Remove the bag and vacuum tube. Remove the jamming material using a small
wooden stick. Do not use a metal implement or anything, which may damage the fan or scratch the plastic. Ensure the fan will turn
by hand before reassembling the unit.
Ifthe unit stops picking up debris or the performance substantially
reduces it may have become clogged. Switch the unit off then remove the battery. Remove the vacuum tube and look down the
tube to ensure no debris is blocking it. If necessary remove debris with a small wooden stick. Do not use a metal implement or
anything, which may scratch or damage the tube. Remove the bag.
Ifthe bag is full, empty the bag. If
necessary remove any debris from around the fan or unit outlet
using a small wooden stick. Do not use a metal implement or
anything which may damage the fan or scratch the plastic. Ensure the
fan will turn by hand before reassembling the unit
lO
ACTIONS THAT MAY LEAD TO THE UNiT JAMMING ARE:
Vacuuming wet leaves or wet debris.
Vacuuming litter or non-organic debris.
Vacuuming debris with an already filled bag.
Vacuuming large twigs or sticks.
Submerging the tip of the vacuum tube into a pile of leaves or debris.
HOW TO AVOID JAMMING THE UNIT:
Use the unit primarily for hard surface vacuuming.
Vacuum dried leaves and debris.
If attempting to vacuum damp debris, alternate vacuuming damp leaves or debris with vacuuming dry leaves or debris. The dried
debris will help to remove damp debris from inside the unit.
Empty the bag often and do not overfill the bag to avoid creating
a jam at the bag outlet.
Hold the bottom of the vacuum tube above any leaf piles to
vacuum from the top and work down and avoid submerging the vacuum tube into the pile of leaves.
CLEANING AND STORAGE _WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD. DO NOT POUR OR SPRAY
WATER ON THE TOOL iN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAN.
z._CAUTION: TURN OFF AND REMOVE BATTERY FROM TOOL.
Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a
liquid. Clean out any clippings, which may have accumulated in the
fan chamber on the SweeperNac using a small wooden stick. Your
SweeperNac should be stored in a dry place.
z_WARNING: DO NOT use this product with any type of
accessory or attachment. Such usage might be hazardous.
Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals. Such storage can cause rapid corrosion of the metal parts.
