POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW
Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent
removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. ELECTRICAL CORD
1. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
3. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used: a) The marked electrical rating of the power cord or extension cord should be at least
as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.

HOW TO USE
This appliance is for household use only.
BEFORE FIRST USE
• Remove all packing material, any stickers, and the plastic band around the power plug.
• Go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your product.
• Remove the blade assembly from cardboard insert.
• Attach blade assembly by aligning key tab with key slots (A).
• Push in and turn until blade assembly locks into position.
CAN OPENING
1. Plug the cord into a standard, 120-volt electrical outlet.
2. Lift the lever. Tip the can so that the rim is under the locating post.
3. Push down on the lever, making sure the cutter blade is inside the rim of
the can.
Note: It is not necessary to hold the lever down or support the can during cutting. However, you may have to hold the can opener body when cutting very tall or heavy cans.
4. When the can is opened, the cutting automatically stops.
5. Remove can by holding it with one hand and raising the lever with
the other.
Caution: Avoid contact with the cut edges of the can or lids—they are sharp. Carefully remove the lid from the magnet and discard.
6. Excess cord can be tucked away inside the bottom of the unit for
storage and fed through the notch.
CAN OPENING TIPS
• This can opener will not open rimless cans or cans with angled corners. It should not be used to open cans with a peel-off foil or rolling key.
• If there is a dent in the rim of a can, open the other end or start the cutting action just beyond the dent. Cans with heavy seams, uneven rims or odd shapes may cause the can opener to stall. If this happens, turn the can slightly by hand to aid the cutting action.
• Frozen juices or foods in cardboard cans should be opened as soon as they are removed from the freezer. Aluminum lids will not stick to the magnet.

USING THE KNIFE SHARPENER
Note: The slot in the knife sharpener is slanted for left or right-handed use.
1. For best results, sharpen the entire blade length in one
continuous stroke carefully pulling the blade through the slot and slightly up towards you (B).
2. Repeat until you achieve desired sharpness. Wash and dry knives after
sharpening. Use caution with blade after sharpening.
KNIFE SHARPENING TIPS
• Clean and dry knives before sharpening.
• Do not attempt to sharpen serrated blades, as this will smooth their edges.
• Do not attempt to sharpen scissors.

This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.
1. Unplug the can opener before cleaning.
2. Remove the blade assembly by lifting the lever up and pulling the blade
assembly out (See A).
3. Wash the blade assembly in a dishwasher or by hand with dish soap and
warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
4. Before replacing the blade assembly, wipe the can opener exterior and
