A
re legacy DOS systems still
doing important work for you? Do they get bogged down printing page after page of data? Now you can clear your screen and get back to work with the Data Buffer II and the HS (High-Speed) Data Buffer II.
These buffers streamline bidirectional communication between two RS-232 devices by buffering data, eliminating bottlenecks between your computer and your printer, plotter, or other serial device.
The print buffer that keeps your
legacy system working at full speed.
Key Features
DAT A BUFFER II AND HS DATA BUFFER II
Each buffer’s input and output port can support different baud rates. This, together with proper memory sizing, can completely eliminate the need for flow control at the host, providing fast, efficient, and error-free data flow.
Eight-position DIP switches enable you to set data rates, hardware or software flow control, and parity. Each port can be configured independently.
The buffers have multiplecopy capabilities, enabling them to print up to 99 copies of a file. To
cancel a job, a simple press of the reset button cancels all the data in the buffer.
The buffers can generate selftest messages from the output port so you can print out diagnostics on your printer.
Configure the Data Buffer II to accept data at speeds ranging from 300 bps to 19.2 kbps. And the HS Data Buffer II accepts data as fast as your PC can send it at any of 16 selectable data rates ranging from 4800 bps to
115.2 kbps.

Recognize any of these situations?
• You wait more than 30 minutes to get through to a vendor’s tech support.
• The so-called “tech” can’t help you or gives you the wrong answer.
• You don’t have a purchase order number and the tech refuses to help you.
• It’s 9 p. m. and you need help, but your vendor’s tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say that getting the technical support they need is extremely important when choosing a
vendor. But even though network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their overall purchase price for a basic service and support contract, the technical support and service they receive falls far short of their expectations—and certainly isn’t worth what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the best support. You can even consult our Technical Support Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just the right component for your application.
