BEFORE FIRST USE OF THIS PRODUCT:

READ, UNDERSTAND, AND FOLLOW ALL instructions and warnings in this manual before operating this KettleCharge. Failure to comply with the
precautions and instructions provided with this product can result in property loss or damage, serious bodily injury, or death. Only persons
who can understand and follow the instructions should use this KettleCharge. Contact BioLite with any questions about safety or operation.

WARNING

DO NOT USE OVER A LARGE OPEN FIRE as this presents a risk of bodily injury and a safety hazard to the user, the product,

and to the electronics being charged.

Do not touch hot surfaces. Metal surfaces become extremely hot – use caution and use heat-resistant mitt or fabric to
grab handle when picking up or carrying kettle.

Do not fill the KettleCharge with water above MAX line. Overfilling may cause water to overflow which may scald the user.

1. The KettleCharge is designed to work over a range of contained, controlled flames. It should

NEVER BE USED OVER A LARGE OPEN FIRE. Never place KettleCharge over a fire where flames lap
up around the product. Flames should never extend beyond the base plate (fig. 1).

2. DO NOT OPERATE KETTLE WITHOUT WATER. Heating KettleCharge without water will result in
damage of product. You must always ensure there is water at or above the “MIN fill” line to
protect the electronics inside the product.

3. The KettleCharge is intended for heating water only. Use of any other liquids or food may
damage the interior and void warranty. Do not use kettle for other than intended use.

4. DO NOT immerse the unit in water or other liquid. DO NOT wet handle or you may damage the
electronics inside the product.

5. CAUTION - Close supervision is necessary when this product is to be used with or near children.
This product should not be used by children unless supervised by an adult who has read and
understood all of the instructions for the use of the product.

6. DO NOT use or store the unit it damp or moist areas where it may come in contact with water.
Again, this may damage the electronics inside the product. Store at or below 25° C/77° F.

7. Always keep handle in upright position when in use.

The BioLite KettleCharge is a unique device that
uses the heat differential between flame and water
to produce electricity to charge your devices while
simultaneously providing clean water. Before first use,
you must familiarize yourself with all component parts
and proper operation of the kettle.

The left-hand side with the flame icon represents the strength of your
heat source:

• The stronger the heat source, the more power will be generated.

• The four LED lights indicate temperature strength with one light being LOW

HEAT and all four lights being EXTREMELY HIGH HEAT.

• To prevent over-heating and damage of the electronics, the KettleCharge has a

built-in warning system that alerts you when the device is becoming too hot:

- When the top LED light on the left-hand side begins to blink this will signify
that you are approaching the upper temperature limit. Monitor closely.

- If the red triangle LED and all four heat LEDs begin to flash, accompanied by
a beeping sound, this indicates that the flame is too hot. Turn down heat
source. Beeping should stop within a few seconds.

- If the red triangle LED turns on, accompanied by a steady sound, this
indicates that the water is almost boiled away. Add water immediately.

- The power button can be used to temporarily silence the audible warning.

- If no action is taken when the warning system sounds, you may damage

your KettleCharge permanently.

The right-hand side with the battery icon
represents how much energy has been stored in

the internal battery:

• The BioLite KettleCharge features a special internal
battery designed to withstand high-temperature
environments while safely charging devices

• The battery is a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO
1250mAh battery and each LED light indicates a 25%
charge. When all four lights are lit, the battery is full.

• The USB port is located at the bottom of the handle.

All stoves and flames are different – closely monitor the
product when used with a new heat source.

devices while boiling as the KettleCharge will

Step 1 - Fill

1. Lift Power Handle into upright position.

2. Fill with water only (fig. 1).

3. Fill KettleCharge through spout opening. Use a faucet or water

bottle for best accuracy and to prevent spillage onto the device. Do
not submerge device into bodies of water such as a lake or river.
NEVER get handle wet.

WARNING

4. Do not overfill past the “MAX fill” line at 750ml. Overfilling may

result in water boiling over, which may scald the user (fig. 2a).

5. Always fill KettleCharge before placing over heat source.

1. Place the KettleCharge filled with water over a contained flame and center device to ensure even
heating and to protect the Power Handle.

2. CAUTION - Use care when placing KettleCharge on narrow diameter stove supports, such as
backpacking stoves. Monitor closely. Knocking over the KettleCharge while in use may burn and/or
scald the user.

3. Never allow water level to go below the MIN fill line. If this happens, warning system will sound –
fill with more water immediately (fig. 2b).

4. When the top LED lights on the left-hand side begin to blink, this signifies that you are approaching
the upper temperature limit. Monitor product and heat source closely.

5. If the red triangle LED and all four heat LEDs begin to flash, accompanied by a beeping sound,
this indicates that the flame is too hot. Turn down heat source. Beeping should stop within a
few seconds (fig. 3).

6. If the red triangle LED turns on, accompanied by a steady sound, this indicates that the water is
almost boiled away (fig. 4). Add water immediately.

7. If the KettleCharge does not stop beeping after one minute, remove from heat entirely.

8. When heating water for potability (drinkable), boil water vigorously for one minute; three minutes
if at altitudes of one mile or higher. If the water is cloudy, filter it through clean clothes or allow it
to settle and draw off the clear water for boiling. Allow water to cool and store in a clean container.

to the user, the product, and to the
electronics being charged.

The KettleCharge will be extremely hot
when in use. Do not touch any part of
the KettleCharge with bare hands either
during or immediately after use.

Step 3 - Charge

1. The KettleCharge produces 10 Watts of power (5V,2A). This energy is stored in a safe lithium iron

phosphate (LiFePO4), 1250mAh battery, providing a charge with or without being in use.

• 10 Watts is enough to charge headlamps, smartphones, GPS devices, cameras, and tablets. Please
check your electronics to ensure they are within the technical specifications (5V USB) for optimal
charging and protection of all devices.

2. When the first LED light turns on, real-time charging may begin. To charge while boiling, carefully attach

the USB extender to the Power Handle and position away from heat source. Attach your device’s cord and
begin charging (fig. 1). Do not drape cords over the KettleCharge or rest electronics near the heat source
as the cords or electronics may be damaged by the heat.

3. When all four battery LED lights are green, the battery is fully charged. You may continue to charge a
device from the USB, but no additional power will be stored in the battery.

4. To charge when not boiling, ensure that the battery has been charged. If the KettleCharge is cool and
away from a heat source, activate the battery by pressing the power button (fig. 2). You may then plug
your devices directly into the Power Handle.

1. When water is boiling, carefully remove USB extender from Power Handle (fig. 3). Lift

KettleCharge from heat source using a heat resistant mitt or a sufficient fabric guard and pour
into desired receptacle (fig. 4).

2. CAUTION - Bottom plate of KettleCharge will be extremely hot after use. When done boiling

and charging, rest KettleCharge on a non-flammable surface, ideally a metal or stone surface
or non-used burner and allow the KettleCharge to cool down. For fastest cooling, refill
KettleCharge with cold water.

3. To continue charging and boiling, refill KettleCharge with cool water, return to heat source, and
carefully reattach USB extender and device.

NOTE: Low water alarm may sound after pouring out water. To silence, push the Power Button.
Refill before next use.

Use care when pouring boiling water. Contents will be extremely hot and can scald the user.
While the USB extender is designed to protect the internal cable from heat, surface areas can become very

hot. A heat-resistant mitt should be used when positioning or removing the extender.

1. Allow KettleCharge to cool completely either by placing on non-flammable surface or
by pouring cold water back into kettle.

2. After KettleCharge has cooled, pour out remaining contents to ensure kettle is empty.

3. To return handle to the stored position (fig. 3), slide handle release switch up (fig. 2)
and lower Power Handle down. Note that this does not seal the vessel; ensure the
kettle is empty before storing.

4. To clean, wipe metal kettle down with a damp rag. CAUTION - Do not wet Power
Handle and do not submerge kettle in water as these actions will damage the
electronics inside the product.

5. If using the KettleCharge frequently and you would like to descale your kettle,
bring the KettleCharge to a boil with water and the juice of one lemon.

6. Store in a cool, dry place. If you are using the KettleCharge in the outdoors for an
extended period of time, avoid contact with damp ground or water. Keep out of rain.

7. For best maintenance, charge the battery to full at least once every six months.

KETTLECHARGE IS BEEPING INTERMITTENTLY WITH RED TRIANGLE LED FLASHING

• This is the warning system, indicating that the flame is too hot. Turn down heat source.
Beeping should stop within a few seconds.

KETTLECHARGE IS SOUNDING A STEADY ALARM WITH RED TRIANGLE LED ILLUMINATED

• This is the warning system, indicating that the water is almost boiled away.
Add water immediately.

• The power button can be used to temporarily silence the audible warning.

KETTLECHARGE IS NOT CHARGING DEVICES

• Ensure that water is beyond MIN fill line and heat source is turned up with the left-hand
LEDs showing at least 2 lights. Both components are required for proper charging.

• Check LED battery indicator to see at least one green light. If no lights are on, battery
needs time to store energy before charging can begin.

• Check technical specifications of devices to ensure they are in the range of BioLite’s
charging capabilities. The KettleCharge will not charge laptops.

• Check USB extender and charging cords to ensure everything is properly connected.

• If battery LEDs are all lit and devices are still not charging, contact BioLite.

CLICKING SOUND

• When the KettleCharge heats up or cools down quickly,
this temporary clicking is the sound of metal expanding
and contracting. This is normal and will not affect your
product. It will stop when the temperature stabilizes.

TOP LED ON LEFT HAND SIDE IS FLASHING

• When the top LED light on the left-hand side begins
to blink this will signify that you are approaching the
upper temperature limit. Monitor the product and heat
source closely.

HANDLE WILL NOT RETURN TO STORED POSITION

• To return handle to the stored position, slide handle
release switch and lower Power Handle down. Note that
this does not seal the vessel; ensure the kettle is empty
before storing.

DANGER

BATTERY HAZARD. The rechargeable battery inside the Power Handle may present

a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or chemical burn if mishandled. To prevent risk of
injury, keep power handle dry to preclude corrosion of the battery. Keep power handle
and battery well away from other heat sources. NEVER PLACE KETTLECHARGE OVER
AN OPEN FIRE OR WHERE FLAMES CAN COME UP OVER THE SIDES OF THE KETTLE. Do not
expose the battery to excessive physical shock, pressure, or vibration. DO NOT attempt
to change the battery yourself. If the battery does not recharge, please contact BioLite
for warranty & repair information.

BURN HAZARD. Metal surfaces on the kettle will be hot when KettleCharge is operating
and present a burn hazard. Handle KettleCharge by the Power Handle only, using a
heat-resistant mitt or fabric. Never leave kettle unattended when hot or in use. Keep
out of reach of children. Always use on level ground and stable surface.

SCALDING HAZARD. Contents inside KettleCharge will be hot when in use and present
scalding hazard. Use caution when pouring contents of KettleCharge. To prevent
dangerous overflow when boiling, never fill beyond MAX fill line.

Metal surfaces will be hot when KettleCharge is operating
and present a burn hazard.

Contents of KettleCharge will be hot when in use and present
a scalding hazard.

Not designed for use in heavy rain. Keep KettleCharge dry.

Boil water vigorously for a minimum of one minute for
proper disinfection. Strain cloudy water before boiling.

Follow all local regulations when operating in outdoors.
Policies vary from season to season and park to park. Only
you can prevent forest fires.

(located on the bottom

BioLite has a 1-year limited warranty. Should this product not function properly under normal
use within 1 year of purchase, contact BioLite or your local distributor for return process
information. BioLite alone will determine if the problem is due to a manufacturing flaw. If so,
BioLite will repair or replace the unit at its discretion and send it to you, free of charge.

This warranty does not cover any damage or malfunction arising from misuse, improper
maintenance, negligence, normal wear and tear, or accident. The KettleCharge may only be
used as a water-boiling kettle or charger. Never alter the KettleCharge in any way or use with
any part or accessory not expressly approved by BioLite. This warranty applies only to the
original purchaser and proof of purchase is required.

All implied warranties required under law are limited to one year. BioLite shall not be liable
for any consequential or incidental damages whatsoever. BioLite shall not be held liable if
the product or defect herein causes damage or failure of other equipment.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights that vary
from state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages, or limitation or exclusion of implied warranties, so the above
exclusions or limitations may not apply to you.

Paso 1 - Llenar

1. Active el interruptor de liberación y coloque el mango de carga en posición vertical.

2. Llene con agua únicamente (fig. 1).

3. Llene la KettleCharge a través de la apertura superior. Emplee un grifo o una
botella de agua para mayor precisión y así prevenir que el agua afecte la tetera. No
sumerja el producto en cuerpos de agua, tales como ríos o lagos. Nunca permita
que el mango se moje.

ADVERTENCIA

4. No llene la tetera más allá de la línea de “MAX fill”, que indica 750 ml. El

llenado excesivo puede resultar en agua hirviendo escapándose de la tetera, lo
que puede causarle quemaduras al usuario (fig. 2a).

5. Siempre llene la KettleCharge antes de colocarla sobre la fuente de calor.

Paso 2 - Calentar

1. Coloque la KettleCharge con agua sobre una llama contenida y centre el dispositivo de tal manera
que asegure un calentamiento uniforme y la protección del mango de carga.

2. ADVERTENCIA – Sea cuidadoso al poner la KettleCharge sobre estufas con soportes reducidos, como
estufas para acampar. Vigile cuidadosamente; derribar la KettleCharge mientras está en uso puede
causarle quemaduras al usuario.

3. Nunca permita que el nivel del agua esté debajo de la línea de “MIN fill”. Si esto sucede, el sonido
de alarma se encenderá; agregue más agua inmediatamente (fig. 2b) .

4. Cuando el LED de luces superiores en el lado izquierdo comienzan a parpadear, esto significa que se
está acercando al límite superior de temperatura. Producto del monitor y la fuente de calor de cerca.

5. Si el LED del triángulo rojo y todos los cuatro LEDs de calor empiezan a relampaguear, acompañados
por un pitido, eso indica que la llama está demasiado caliente. Reduzca la fuente de calor. El pitido
debera deternerse en unos segundos (fig. 3).

6. Si el LED del triángulo rojo se enciende, acompañado por un sonido constante, esto indica que el
agua casi se ha evaporado completamente por ebullición (fig. 4). Añada agua inmediatamente.

7. Si el sonido de advertencia no cesa después de un minuto, retírela completamente del fuego.

8. Si desea calentar agua para consumo humano, déjela hervir vigorosamente por un minuto; hágalo
por tres minutos si se encuentra a alturas de más de 1500 msnm. Si el agua tiene una apariencia
turbia, fíltrela a través de ropa limpia o déjela reposar y retire el agua sobre el sedimento para
hervirla. Permita que se enfríe y almacénela en un contenedor limpio.

ADVERTENCIA

NUNCA COLOQUE LA KETTLECHARGE SOBRE

Paso 3 - Cargar

1. La KettleCharge produce 10 vatios de energía (5V, 2A) que se almacenan en una batería segura de litio-ferrofosfato
(LiFePO4) de 1250mAh. Esto proporciona energía para cargas sin importar si la tetera se encuentra en uso o no.

• 10 vatios son suficientes para cargar lámparas de cabeza, teléfonos inteligentes, GPS, cámaras y tabletas.
Verifique si sus dispositivos se encuentran dentro de las especificaciones técnicas de carga (5V vía USB) para
una carga óptima y la protección de todos sus dispositivos.

2. Puede iniciar la carga de dispositivos en tiempo real en el momento que la primera luz LED se haya encendido.
Para cargar dispositivos mientras hierve el agua, conecte con cuidado la extensión USB al mango de carga y diríjalo
hacia el lado opuesto al calor. Conecte el otro extremo a su dispositivo y empezará a cargar (fig. 1). No cuelgue
cables sobre la KettleCharge ni coloque dispositivos cerca de la fuente de calor, pues el calor puede dañarlos.

3. La batería se encuentra completamente cargada cuando todas las cuatro luces LED se encuentren de color verde.
Usted puede continuar cargando dispositivos por el puerto USB, pero la tetera dejará de almacenar energía en su
batería interna.

4. Para cargar cuando no está hirviendo agua, asegúrese de que la batería contenga carga. Cuando la KettleCharge
esté a temperatura ambiente y retirada de una fuente de calor, active la batería presionando el botón de
encendido (fig. 2). A continuación usted podrá cargar sus dispositivos directamente con el mango de carga.

ADVERTENCIA

El mango de carga estará caliente. Unos guantes resistentes al calor o alguna tela protectora adecuada deben ser
utilizados al tocar el mango del producto.

Paso 4 - Vertir

1. Cuando el agua esté hirviendo, retire cuidadosamente la extensión USB del mango de carga. Levante
la KettleCharge de la fuente de calor empleando guantes resistentes al calor o alguna tela protectora
adecuada y vierta el agua en el contenedor que usted desee. (fig. 4).

2. PRECAUCIÓN - La placa base de la KettleCharge se hallará extremadamente caliente luego de ser usada.
Al terminar de hervir o cargar, deposite la KettleCharge sobre una superficie no inflamable; lo ideal sería
una superficie de piedra o metal, o un quemador no utilizado, lo que permitirá que la temperatura de la
Kettle Charge disminuya. Para un enfriamiento más rápido, llene la KettleCharge con agua fría.

3. Para continuar hirviendo y cargando, llene nuevamente la KettleCharge con agua fría, deposite
nuevamente sobre la fuente de calor y conecte cuidadosamente la extensión USB y el dispositivo a
cargar nuevamente.

ADVERTENCIA

Tenga cuidado al verter agua hiviendo, pues se encontrará extremadamente caliente y puede causar
quemaduras en el usuario.

Si bien la extensión para USB está diseñada para proteger el cable del calor, es posible que esté muy
caliente en su superficie. Se recomienda usar un paño resistente al calor cuando se coloque o se quite
la extensión.

Apagado y mantenimiento

1. Permita que la KettleCharge se enfríe completamente, ya sea colocándola en una
superficie no inflamable o llenándola de agua fría.

2. Luego de que la KettleCharge se ha enfriado, asegúrese de vaciarla completamente.

3. Para regresar el mango a su posición de almacenamiento (fig. 3), deslice el
interruptor de liberación del mango (fig 2) y baje el mango de poder. Note que esto
no sella la unidad; asegúrese que la tetera está vacía antes de almacenarla.

4. Limpie la tetera metálica con un trapo húmedo. PRECAUCIÓN – No moje el mango
de poder ni sumerja la tetera en agua, pues esto resultará en daño a los electrónicos
internos del producto.

5. Si usa la KettleCharge frecuentemente y desea desincrustar su tetera, hierva una
mezcla de agua con el jugo de un limón en la KettleCharge.

6. Almacene en un sitio fresco y seco. Si planea usar la KettleCharge en exteriores por
un periodo extendido de tiempo, evite el contacto con agua o suelos húmedos.
Manténgala alejada de la lluvia.

7. Para un mantenimiento óptimo, cargue la batería al máximo al menos una vez cada
seis meses.

EL KETTLECHARGE ESTA EMITIENDO UN PITIDO INTERMITENTE CON EL LED DEL TRIÁNGULO ROJO
PARPADEANDO

• Este es el sistema de advertencia, indicando que la llama está demasiado caliente. Reduzca la
fuente de calor. El pitido debera deternerse en unos segundos.

EL KETTLECHARGE ESTA EMITIENDO UNA ALARMA CONSTANTE CON EL LED DEL TRIÁNGULO ROJO
ILUMINADO

• Esto es el sistema de advertencia indicando que el agua casi se ha evaporado completamente
por ebullición. Añada agua inmediatamente.

• El botón de encendido puede ser usado para silenciar provisionalmente la advertencia sonora.

LA KETTLECHARGE NO ESTÁ CARGANDO LOS DISPOSITIVOS

• Asegúrese que el nivel del agua se encuentra más arriba de la línea “MIN fill” y que la fuente de
calor se encuentra encendida, con al menos dos de las luces LED del lado izquierdo encendidas.
Ambos eventos son necesarios para una carga adecuada.

• Verifique que el indicador LED de la batería presenta al menos una luz verde. Si ninguna luz
está encendida, la batería necesita más tiempo para almacenar energía antes de poder cargar.

• Verifique las especificaciones técnicas de los dispositivos para asegurar que se encuentran
dentro de la capacidad de carga de BioLite. La KettleCharge no cargará computadores portátiles.

• Verifique que la extensión USB y el cable de carga se encuentran correctamente conectados.

• Si todas las luces LED de la batería se encuentran encendidas pero no puede cargar ningún
dispositivo, por favor póngase en contacto con BioLite.

CHASQUIDO

• Cuando la KettleCharge se calienta o enfría rápidamente,
emite un sonido tipo chasquido como resultado del metal
expandiéndose o contrayéndose. Es completamente
normal y no afectará su producto; se detendrá cuando la
temperatura se estabilice.

LA LUZ LED EN LA PARTE SUPERIOR IZQUIERDA ESTÁ
DESTELLEANDO

• Cuando la luz LED en la parte superior izquierda empiece
a destellear, le está indicando que se aproxima al límite
máximo de temperatura. Vigile el producto y la fuente de
calor.

EL MANGO NO REGRESA A LA POSICIÓN DE ALMACENAMIENTO

• Para regresar el mango a su posición de almacenamiento,
deslice el interruptor de liberación del mango y baje
el mango de poder. Note que esto no sella la unidad;
asegúrese que la tetera está vacía antes de almacenarla.
