1. BioLite BaseCamp provides an adjustable cooking height with folding legs
that elevate the stove off the ground to reduce environmental impact.
WARNING: We strongly recommend using BaseCamp only when the legs
are extended. The base of the stove becomes very hot during use and can
damage sensitive surfaces if the legs are not extended during use.
2. Release folding legs by pulling legs outward (fig. 1 & fig. 2).
3. Place flame spreader attachment on top of cook top with rings facing down.
4. Insert grill-to-boil lever by placing lever, concave side up, through side
slot at the top of the BaseCamp cooktop. Insert the rotation pin into the
corresponding hole.
5. Place grill grate on top of cooktop.
6. Attach the fuel rack to the mouth of the fuel entry section by inserting the
prongs into the two inner slots (fig. 3). Attach the ash tray into the outer two
slots (fig. 3). CAUTION: Both attachments are required for safe and proper
usage of the BaseCamp. Set up correctly, the fuel rack and ash tray will be
perpendicular to the mouth of the stove (fig. 4).

The BaseCamp is a fun and efficient way to cook with wood. Our unique technology allows you to use less
wood while still maintaining a strong fire. Like any fire, a good fuel source is the key to starting it correctly.
1. Dry hardwoods are ideal fuel sources. Do not use green wood as it will cause excessive smoking.
2. When beginning your fire, start with small twigs to avoid excessive smoke.
3. The BaseCamp Stove can accommodate three ideal sizes of wood based on the strength of the
fire - Firelighting, Building Up, and Strong and Ongoing (opposite page).
4. Arrange sticks in a varied manner that allow for airflow (fig. 1a).
5. To keep the fire going, push sticks inward towards the mouth of the stove every 5-10 minutes.
Exercise caution when near the mouth of the stove as contents will be hot.
6. Note that BioLite BaseCamp’s technology creates a very efficient fire. You do NOT need a huge
flame coming out from the top. The temperature dashboard located on the orange powerpack
will provide feedback on how hot your fire is for ideal cooking and charging.
7. Over the course of your fire, ash will begin to collect in the mouth of the stove. Using a fireproof
trowel or scoop, remove ash every 20-45 minutes to maintain airflow – this will keep the heat
of your fire consistent and allow you to refuel more easily.

CAUTION
Firestarting
Smaller sized sticks and kindling are ideal ways to get the fire initially lit. Starting with large sticks will result in
a lot of smoke and may not effectively start the fire. Solid Firestarters are included in your box and can create a
more dependable fire. Do not use liquid accelerant to start your fire. Tip: Smaller sized fuel is ideal for grilling.
Building Up
As the flame catches, larger sticks or strips of firewood can be placed into the mouth of the stove. These will
help build a coal bed and bring up the overall temperature of the stove
Strong & Ongoing
As your fire builds to a sustained strength and a coal bed is formed, you can use larger pieces of wood such as
branches up to 1.5 inches in diameter or split pieces of firewood. However, it is important to never crowd the
burn chamber. This will not create a better fire.
Overstuffing stove may lead to fire
outside the stove and a fire hazard to
the surrounding area (fig. 1b).
Use extreme caution when removing ash from stove. The stove and ash will be hot
and may cause injury if inadvertently touched. The ash must also be disposed of
properly as it may re-ignite and present a fire hazard.

1. Allow at least ten minutes of flame for your grill to heat up before cooking.
2. Tip: Keep a continuous feed of fuel into the mouth of the stove at varying
lengths to ensure a steady fire.
3. The BaseCamp has two key temperature zones. The “HIGH” temperature radiates
outward from the middle of the stove and the “MEDIUM” temperature is on the
outer perimeter (fig. 1).
4. To grill your food, allow the grate to heat up with the dispersed flame by making
sure the lever is pulled over the center of the stove in the GRILL position (fig. 2).
7. To BOIL, slide the lever so that a concentrated flame comes up through the top of
the stove and center your pot on top of the grate (fig. 3).

• The BioLite BaseCamp comes with a revolutionary orange powerpack located on the side of the stove body. This is where heat is
converted into usable electricity and where an internal fan blows air back into the burn chamber for a more efficient fire.
• The fan will start automatically when the probe heats up. The power button
(fig. 1a) is to utilize battery storage when charging a device without any fire
burning.
• At the top of the powerpack, there are two rows of LED lights. The row
furthest to the right with the flame symbol (fig. 1b) measures the heat of the
fire. The flame indicator is communicating fire strength.
1 light = Low Heat. 4 Lights = Extremely Hot.
• If the hazard light blinks, (fig. 1c) this means that the thermoelectric generator
(TEG) is over heating. This is because the fire is too hot and the user should
tone down the fire to prevent overheating the TEG. If the hazard light is solid,
there is a fan failure and the user should extinguish the fire immediately to
avoid damaging the product.
• The row on the left with the battery symbol (fig. 1d) indicates the charge level of the internal battery.
1 light = 25% charge. 2 lights = 50% charge. 3 lights = 75% charge. 4 lights = 100% charge.

• Approximately 10 minutes into a strong fire, the LED indicators will illuminate. You
may now begin charging your USB devices at any time provided a minimum of
two battery level indicators are lit (fig. 2).
• With a strong fire, the BioLite BaseCamp can provide 5W of electricity through
its USB port. This is enough to charge tablets, cameras, phones, etc. CAUTION:
Charging devices when the LED indicators are not illuminated may result in
damage to your device or the powerpack. DO NOT use splitters to try and charge
two devices simultaneously.
• The powerpack is capable of storing power for later usage. To charge when the
stove is not in use, press the power button to activate the USB port (fig 3). The
battery level indicators will show the battery charge status.
• When charging while cooking, keep electronics away from the stove. Do not rest
or prop devices on the stove.
• The BioLite BaseCamp comes with an included USB gooseneck light that allows
you to light up your cooksite. For light during start-up, press the power button on
the powerpack to activate the USB port. Plug in gooseneck. Turn on by tapping
your finger on the light’s BioLite logo. To dim the USB gooseneck, press gently
on the plastic side of the light. To turn USB gooseneck off, tap your finger on the
BioLite logo again. The gooseneck features a USB pass-thru that allows you to
plug another device. Please note that devices can be charged while the light is in
use, but not all devices will be compatible with this mode.

WARNING
The Stove will be extremely hot when in use. Keep
electronics from touching the stove as contact may cause
damage to your electronics. When plugging in electronics to
the powerpack, do not touch any metal surfaces as they will
be hot. Only touch the plastic parts of the powerpack.

SHUTDOWN
1. Wait until surface is completely cooled down, approximately 15-20
minutes after the fire has been extinguished.
2. Clear out ash from the mouth of the stove using a fireproof trowel or
scoop. CAUTION: Ash and live coals may reignite and present a fire
hazard to surrounding areas. Dispose of ashes properly to prevent
a fire hazard.
3. Remove fuel rack and ash tray.
4. Hold stove by the carrying handle and fold opposite legs inward first
for ideal storage (fig. 1).
CLEANING
1. Remove grill grate and flame spreader, clean with a wire brush and
dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
2. To clean the outer body of stove including the powerpack, wipe
down with a damp rag – never pour water directly on or into the
stove or powerpack.

MAINTENANCE
• Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
• Avoid storing in excessive heat.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• If product is not used within 6
months, the powerpack will need
to be re-conditioned by burning
your fire 10 minutes longer than usual prior to charging.
• Clean the lint filter periodically when it is visually obstructed.
To access, press latch on bottom of powerpack and remove
door (fig. 2).

Smoky Fire
• Use smaller pieces of kindling and sticks to build fire
• Collect drier fuel
• Avoid overstuffing stove – remove pieces of fuel to improve airflow
• Avoid windy locations
Flame too high/too strong
• Allow to burn down for 5-10 minutes OR
• Remove 1-2 pieces of fuel from mouth of stove with extreme caution
as a portion will still be on fire. Extinguish removed fuel immediately.
Fire outside mouth of stove
• Remove ash to accommodate new fuel
• Push fuel inward into mouth of stove
Do not overstuff the fuel intake
•
• User fuel that is smaller in diameter
Devices not charging
• Check tech requirements of device to ensure it is within the spec range of
BioLite charging capabilities.
• Check the fire heat dashboard indicator. The stronger the fire, the faster it will
be ready to charge devices. If the fire is not hot enough, ensure that there is
space for airflow and fuel has been placed properly.
• Look at battery charge LED dashboard indicator. If less than two indicators are
lit, the battery is empty and needs time to store more energy before charging.
• Note that if the BaseCamp goes more than 6 months without a fire it will need
extra time during initial use to produce electricity.
• If two or more battery charge indicators are lit and devices are still not
charging, check cable cords.
• If cable cords are working and devices are still not charging, contact BioLite.

DANGER
CARBON MONOXIDE, EXPLOSION, FIRE, BURN, & CORROSION HAZARD
CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD. This stove is for OUTDOOR USE ONLY. Never for use in tents, vehicles, indoors, or other places without fresh air.
Carbon Monoxide inhalation can cause death or brain damage. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is produced when fuel burns.
EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD. This stove is intended to burn solid biomass (e.g. wood, pinecones, etc) only. NEVER add liquids, gels, plastics, or
other accelerants into stove This stove is hot during use and can ignite flammable materials too close to the flame. Keep flammable materials
at least 18 inches from the sides and 48 inches from the top of the stove. Keep gasoline and other flammable liquids and vapors well away from
the stove. Clean stove frequently to avoid grease accumulation and possible grease fires. Never leave stove unattended.
BURN HAZARD. Metal surfaces on stove will be hot when stove is operating and present a burn hazard. Flames may be large. Never leave stove
unattended when hot or in use. Do not move stove while lit. Keep out of reach of children. Always use on level ground. BATTERY HAZARD.
The rechargeable battery inside the Power Module may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage or chemical burn if mishandled. To prevent
hazards, keep power module dry to preclude corrosion of the battery. Keep Powerpack and battery well away from other heat sources. Do not
expose the battery to excessive physical shock, pressure, or vibration. DO NOT attempt to change the battery yourself. If the battery does not
recharge, please contact BioLite for repair information.
FIRESTARTER STICKS. Flammable. Do not store near heat, fires, or flames. All precautions should be taken when handling flammable products.
Adult supervision necessary. Use of these firestarter sticks with certain solid fuels may be restricted at times by your state or local law. All
applicable rules in your locality should be followed. CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65 WARNING: Burning wood stove fuels such as natural firewood
results in the emission of carbon monoxide, soot and other combustion by-products which are known by the State of California to cause cancer,
birth defects, or reproductive harm.
READ, UNDERSTAND, AND FOLLOW ALL instructions and warnings in this manual before operating this stove. Failure to comply with the
precautions and instructions provided with these stoves can result in property loss or damage, serious bodily injury, or death. Only persons who
can understand and follow the instructions should use this stove. Contact BioLite with any questions about safety or operation.

BioLite has a 1-year limited warranty. Should this product not function properly under normal
use within 1 year of purchase, contact BioLite or your local distributor for return process
information. BioLite alone will determine if the problem is due to a manufacturing flaw. If so,
BioLite will repair or replace the unit at its discretion and return it to you, free of charge.
This warranty does not cover any damage or malfunction arising from misuse, improper
maintenance, negligence, normal wear and tear, or accident. The BaseCamp may only be
used as a cooking appliance or charger. Never alter the BaseCamp in any way or use with any
part or accessory not expressly approved by BioLite. This warranty applies only to the original
purchaser and proof of purchase is required.
All implied warranties required under law are limited to one year. BioLite shall not be liable
for any consequential or incidental damages whatsoever. BioLite shall not be held liable if
the product or defect herein causes damage to or failure of other equipment.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights that vary
from state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages, or limitation or exclusion of implied warranties, so the above
exclusions or limitations may not apply to you.

1. El BioLite BaseCamp proporciona una altura ajustable gracias a las patas plegables

perno de rotación en el agujero correspondiente.
5. Colocar la parrilla sobre la cocina.
6. Fijar la rejilla del combustible a la zona de entrada del combustible introduciendo
las clavijas en las dos ranuras interiores (fig. 3). Fijar la bandeja para la ceniza en
las dos ranuras exteriores (fig. 3). ADVERTENCIA: se necesitan ambos accesorios
para utilizar el BaseCamp de forma apropiada y segura. Si están instalados
correctamente, la rejilla y la bandeja para la ceniza estarán perpendiculares a la
entrada del hornillo (fig. 4).

El BaseCamp es una forma divertida y eficiente de cocinar con madera. Nuestra singular tecnología permite utilizar menos madera manteniendo un fuego
fuerte. Como con cualquier fuego, la clave para encenderlo adecuadamente es una buena fuente de combustión.
1. La madera dura y seca es ideal como fuente de combustión. Es mejor no utilizar madera fresca ya que producirá
demasiado humo.
2. Cuando se encienda el fuego, empezar con ramas pequeñas para evitar hacer demasiado humo.
3. En el BaseCamp se pueden utilizar tres tamaños diferentes de madera dependiendo de la intensidad del fuego.
4. Disponer de los palos de forma variada para permitir el flujo de aire (fig. 1a).
5. Para mantener el fuego, introducir madera en la unidad cada 5-10 minutos. Se debe tener cuidado cuando se esté
cerca de la entrada ya que el contenido quema.
6. Obsérvese que la tecnología de BioLite BaseCamp crea un fuego eficaz. NO se necesita una llama enorme en la
base superior. El panel de temperatura situado en el bloque de alimentación naranja proporciona información
sobre la intensidad ideal del fuego para cocinar y cargar.
7. Mientras el fuego esté encendido, se acumulará ceniza en la entrada del hornillo. Recoger la ceniza cada 20-25
minutos con una paleta o un recogedor resistentes al fuego para mantener el flujo de aire, lo que mantendrá el
calor del fuego de forma consistente y permitirá el reabastecimiento fácilmente.

ADVERTENCIA
Encendido
Los palos más pequeños y las astillas son ideales para encender el fuego. Si se empieza con palos grandes se
producirá mucho humo y no se encenderá el fuego de forma eficaz. En la caja se incluyen acelerantes sólidos
para encender el fuego de forma más segura. No utilizar acelerantes líquidos. Consejo: la leña más pequeña es
ideal para la parrilla.
Aumento
Según van creciendo las llamas, se pueden introducir palos más grandes o trozos de leña en la estufa. Esto hará
que se formen brasas y hará que aumente la temperatura en la unidad.
Fuerte y Continuo
Una vez que el fuego haya cogido fuerza y se hayan formado brasas, se pueden utilizar piezas de madera más
grandes como ramas de entre 3 y 4 cm de diámetro o cortar trozos de leña. Sin embargo, es importante no
llenar a rebosar la cámara de combustión. Esto no hará que se cree un mejor fuego.
Llenar en exceso la unidad puede hacer que el
fuego se extienda al exterior produciéndose así un
riesgo de incendio en los alrededores (fig. 1b).
Se debe tener especial cuidado al retirar la ceniza de la unidad. Tanto la unidad como la ceniza estarán calientes y podrían causar heridas si se tocan sin querer. La ceniza debe desecharse
correctamente ya que podría volver a prender y presentar un riesgo de incendio.

1. Dejar que la llama prenda al menos diez minutos antes de cocinar para que la
parrilla se caliente.
2. Consejo: echar leña de forma continuada en el hornillo en distintos intervalos de
tiempo para garantizar un fuego constante.
AVISO
LA SUPERFICIE Y EL CUERPO DEL HORNILLO ESTARÁN CALIENTES. No tocar. Utilizar siempre
pinzas de metal o utensilios resistentes al
fuego cuando se cocine.
3. El BaseCamp tiene dos zonas de temperatura. La temperatura “ALTA” se expande
hacia el exterior desde el centro del hornillo y la temperatura “MED” que se
encuentra en el perímetro exterior (fig. 1).
4. Para cocinar la comida a la parrilla, dejar que la rejilla se caliente con la llama
dispersa colocando la palanca en el centro del hornillo en la posición de GRILL
(fig. 2).
7. Para cocinar normal, mover la palanca para que suba una llama concentrada por
el hornillo y colocar la cazuela en la parte superior de la rejilla (fig. 3).

• El BioLite BaseCamp viene con un bloque de alimentación naranja totalmente revolucionario ubicado en un lateral del cuerpo de la unidad. Ahí es donde
el calor se convierte en electricidad utilizable y donde un ventilador interno produce aire hacia la cámara de combustión para producir un fuego más
eficiente.
• El ventilador funciona automáticamente cuando la sonda se calienta. El botón de
encendido (fig. 1a) ies para utilizar la batería almacenada al cargar un dispositivo cuando
no hay fuego.
• En la parte superior del bloque de alimentación, hay dos filas de LEDs. La fila que está
más a la derecha con el símbolo de la llama (fig. 1b) mide el calor del fuego.
1 luz = fuego suave. 4 luces = muy caliente.
• La luz de emergencia (fig. 1c) significa que los TEGs (generador termoeléctrico) se están
sobrecalentando porque:
1. el fuego es muy intenso y el usuario debería atenuarlo para evitarlo.
2. el ventilador está fallando y la parte fría de los TEGs no está enfriando
correctamente.
• La fila que se encuentra a la izquierda con el símbolo del rayo (fig. 1d) indica el nivel de
carga de la batería interna.

• Después de aproximadamente 10 minutos con un fuego fuerte, los indicadores
LED se iluminarán. Ahora se pueden empezar a cargar los dispositivos USB
siempre y cuando haya un mínimo de dos indicadores de nivel de la batería
encendidos. (fig. 2).
• Con un fuego fuerte, el BioLite BaseCamp puede producir 5 W de electricidad
a través de un puerto USB. Esto es suficiente para cargar tabletas, cámaras,
teléfonos, etc. ADVERTENCIA: cargar dispositivos cuando los indicadores LED
aún no están iluminados puede provocar daños en el dispositivo o en el bloque
de alimentación. NO utilizar separadores para intentar cargar dos dispositivos
a la vez.
• El bloque de alimentación puede almacenar energía para su uso posterior.
Presionar el botón para activar el puerto USB para cargar cuando la unidad no
está en funcionamiento (fig. 3). Los indicadores del nivel de la batería mostrarán
el estado de carga de la batería.
• Mantener los dispositivos electrónicos alejados del hornillo cuando se carguen
mientras se está cocinando. No dejar ni apoyar los dispositivos sobre la unidad.
• El BioLite BaseCamp viene con una lámpara de cuello de cisne USB que permite
alumbrar el área donde se cocina. Para alumbrar durante el encendido, presionar
el botón para activar el puerto USB como se indica arriba. Tener en cuenta que los
dispositivos puede cargarse mientras se utiliza la lámpara, aunque no todos los
dispositivos son compatibles con este modo.

AVISO
La unidad estará muy caliente durante su uso. Mantener los
dispositivos electrónicos alejados del hornillo ya que si entran
en contacto podrían sufrir daños. No tocar ninguna superficie
metálica al enchufar los dispositivos al bloque de alimentación,
ya que estarán muy calientes. Tocar únicamente las partes de
plástico del bloque de alimentación.

APAGADO
1. Esperar hasta que la superficie se ha haya enfriado completamente,
aproximadamente 15-20 minutos después de que el fuego se haya extinguido.
2. Limpiar la ceniza del hornillo con una paleta o un recogedor resistentes al
fuego. ADVERTENCIA: la ceniza y las brasas pueden reavivarse y presentar un
riesgo de incendio en los alrededores. Deshacerse de las cenizas correctamente
para evitar el riesgo de incendio.
3. Retirar la rejilla del combustible y la bandeja para la ceniza.
4. Sostener el hornillo del asa y plegar las patas hacia dentro consecutivamente
para su almacenamiento (fig. 1).
LIMPIEZA
1. Retirar la rejilla superior y el propagador de llamas, limpiar con un cepillo
metálico y secar bien para evitar el óxido.
2. Para limpiar la parte exterior del cuerpo del hornillo, incluido el bloque de
alimentación, limpiar con un trapo húmedo, no echar agua directamente
sobre o dentro del hornillo ni del bloque de alimentación.

Fuego con humo
• Utilizar astillas y palos más pequeños para hacer el fuego
• Utilizar combustible más seco
• Evitar llenar demasiado el hornillo: retirar piezas de combustible
para mejorar el flujo de aire
• Evitar lugares con viento
Llama demasiado alta/fuerte
• Dejar quemar durante 5-10 minutos O BIEN
• Retirar 1-2 piezas de combustible del hornillo con mucho cuidado ya
que esta estarán prendidas con fuego. Apagar inmediatamente.
Fuego fuera de la entrada del hornillo
• Retirar la ceniza para introducir combustible nuevo
• Introducir la madera en el hornillo
• No llenar demasiado la entrada del combustible
• Utilizar combustible de menor diámetro
Los dispositivos no se cargan
• Comprobar las necesidades tecnológicas del dispositivo para garantizar que
está dentro de las especificaciones de las capacidades de carga de BioLite.
• Comprobar el panel indicador de calor del fuego. Cuanto más fuerte sea el
fuego, antes estará preparado para cargar los dispositivos. Si el fuego no está
lo suficientemente caliente, asegurarse de que hay espacio suficiente para el
flujo de aire y de que se ha colocado el combustible correctamente.
• Mirar el LED del panel indicador de carga de la batería. Si hay menos de dos
indicadores encendidos, la batería está vacía y necesita tiempo para almacenar
más energía antes de la carga.
• Tener en cuenta que si pasan más de seis meses sin que el BaseCamp se
utilice, se necesitara tiempo adicional para producir electricidad.
• Si hay dos o más indicadores encendidos y los dispositivos aún no se cargan,
comprobar los cables.
• Si los cables funcionan correctamente y los dispositivos no se cargan, ponerse
en contacto con BioLite.

PELIGRO
RIESGO DE MONÓXIDO DE CARBONO, EXPLOSIÓN, INCENDIO, QUEMADURAS Y CORROSIÓN
PELIGRO DE EMISIÓN DE MONÓXIDO DE CARBONO. Este hornillo debe USARSE SOLO AL AIRE LIBRE; no utilizar nunca en carpas, vehículos,
en lugares cubiertos u otros lugares donde no circule aire fresco. La inhalación de monóxido de carbono puede provocar la muerte o
daño cerebral. El monóxido de carbono (CO) se produce al quemarse el combustible. PELIGRO DE EXPLOSIÓN-INCENDIO. Este hornillo
está diseñado para quemar biomasa sólida (p. ej. madera, piñas de pino, etc.) únicamente. No deben colocarse NUNCA en el hornillo
líquidos, geles, plásticos u otros agentes que aceleren la combustión. Este hornillo se calienta durante su uso y puede incendiar
materiales inflamables que se encuentren demasiado cerca de la llama. Mantenga los materiales inflamables a por lo menos, 45 cm
de los costados y 122 cm de la parte superior del hornillo. Mantenga la gasolina y otros líquidos y vapores inflamables bien alejados
del hornillo. Límpielo con frecuencia para evitar la acumulación de grasa y la posibilidad de que la grasa se prenda fuego. Nunca
deje el hornillo sin supervisión. PELIGRO DE QUEMADURA. Las superficies metálicas estarán calientes mientras el hornillo esté en
funcionamiento y constituyen un riesgo de quemadura. Manipule el hornillo mediante el Módulo de energía solamente. Las llamas
pueden ser grandes. Nunca deje el hornillo sin supervisión mientras esté caliente o en uso. No mueva el hornillo mientras esté
encendido. Mantenga fuera del alcance de los niños. Utilice siempre en terreno llano. PELIGRO DE LA BATERÍA. La batería recargable
que se encuentra dentro del Módulo de energía puede constituir un riesgo de incendio, explosión, fuga o
quemadura química si no se manipula de forma adecuada. Para evitar riesgos, mantenga seco el Módulo de energía para impedir
la corrosión de la batería. Mantenga este Módulo y la batería bien lejos de otras fuentes de calor. No exponga la batería a sacudidas,
presión o vibración excesivas. NO intente cambiar la batería usted solo. Si la batería no se recarga, comuníquese con BioLite para
recibir información acerca de su reparación. LEA, COMPRENDA Y SIGA TODAS las instrucciones y advertencias de este
manual antes de utilizar este hornillo. No seguir las advertencias e instrucciones proporcionadas con este hornillo puede ocasionar
