A. Assembling the Phone Mount
This is what we're going to make:
The Cradle holds your device (Cell Phone or GPS). The Back Plate connects the Cradle to the Clamp – together they form the Phone Mount. Then the Clamp attaches the Phone Mount unit to the Handlebar / Steering Wheel.
It'll take just a few minutes to construct your Phone Mount. There are three simple steps:
1) Preparing the Cradle & Back Mount
Here you can see the Cradle (A) on the left and the Back Plate (B) on the right.
The Cradle has four holes in the back, whilst the Back Plate has four protrusions sticking out.
Hold the Cradle with the Silver Box facing down as shown.
What we're going to do match the Cradle and Back Plate together and ...
...fit the Back Plate protrusions into the holes in the Cradle as shown.
So far so good. The Back Plate is loosely in place. Now we need to lock it - the Back Plate firmly into place...
With the Cradle held firmly in your hand (left hand in the picture), place the thumb of your other hand (the right hand is shown in the picture) under the Back Plate and push the Back Plate UP.
You will find that the Back Plate will move UP about 5 mm and slot tightly into place. It will not move.
If you ever want to, you can remove the back plate by reversing the procedure.
As you can see the Cradle and the Back Plate have formed a solid single unit.
Here is the front view.
Now let's fit it to the rubberized Adjustable Clamp...
