Subject: Speedometer Interface Module
REFER TO REVERSE SIDE FOR SCHEMATICS
It has been determined that for current installations of a Bendix cruise control system on
vehicles utilizing an electronic speedometer, the interface module is no longer required.
Kit #209898 which contained the interface module has been obsoleted and replaced by
kit #209890.
If a vehicle that is utilizing an interface module develops a problem with the speed signal
(vehicle functions in stationary throttle mode but will not set in cruise mode and it has
been determined the problem is not the speed sender or the stop light circuit and wiring
continuity has been verified). The following steps are recommended:
1. Remove the interface module from the system.
2. Cut off the two pin molded connector from the inhibit/speed wire harness. Attach an
eyelet type connector to the end of the green and gray wires.
3. Connect the gray wire to a speed input terminal on the speedometer head. Connect
the green wire to a good ground.
Note: If after this procedure has been followed and it is determined that there is
inadequate speed signal for both the speedometer and cruise control to function
properly, install a dual output sender such as Wabash 60-0131 into the transmission and
run separate circuits to each unit.
