How to Use

This appliance is equipped with an ESP® Electric Shock Protector™/ALCI
(appliance leakage current interrupter) safety device specifically
engineered for safety. It is for household use and may be plugged into a
standard AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current).

HOW ESP

The ESP
will make it inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as
accidental immersion in water. If the appliance is immersed in water,

do not attempt to reset the ESP®/ALCI safety device.

The ESP
operation can be checked.

TO USE (See Fig. A):

1. Press the Reset button on the ESP

2. Plug your hair dryer into an AC outlet.

3. Then press the Test button. The Reset button will pop out. This verifies

4. Press the Reset button to reactivate the ESP

Repeat this procedure every time you use the hair dryer to confirm that
the safety device is operational.

SPECIAL ATTENTION

• If the unit detects an electrical shock hazard, it will immediately shut

off. To restore power, press the Reset button on the ESP®/ALCI safety
device to reactivate the circuit.

• This appliance is designed with a protective coating around the

heating coils. When operating the first few times, you may notice
momentary smoking when turning unit Off. This represents no danger
to the user and does not indicate a defect in the unit. The smoke
should dissipate within a short time.

• Never block the air intake grille, as this will cause the unit to overheat.

Should this happen, a built-in safety system will operate, and the unit
will shut off automatically. Turn the unit Off and clear any obstruction
from the air intake grille. Wait 10 minutes before operating the
appliance again. If the unit fails to operate, it may indicate that the
appliance has sustained extensive damage. Do not try to repair it. See
warranty for instructions.

• Never touch heating section as it may be hot and can burn you.

• To avoid possible scalp or hair burns, use very hot and fast setting only

when hair is wet. Reduce to lower heat as hair dries.

• Do not keep appliance directed at one place; keep it in constant

motion. This is especially important if drying a wig, which could be
damaged by heat.

• For maximum airflow, hold dryer not closer to the head than six inches.

• To extend the life of the dryer, it is recommended to switch it to the

coolest setting for a few seconds before shutting it off.

• Untwist the cord from time to time to avoid tangling.
USING YOUR HAIR DRYER

This dryer features a choice of two speeds and four heat settings. Use
high heats/speed for most styling/setting procedures and hair types.
Select lower heats/speed for "finishing" a hairstyle or for drying and
styling permed, color-treated or fragile hair.

To adjust heat and speed settings, operate switches as follows:
With both speed and heat switches in the Low (I) position, slow speed

and warm air.
With speed switch in Low (I) and heat switch in High (II) position, slow

speed and hot air.

With speed switch in High (II) and heat switch in Low (I) position, fast
speed and hot air.

With both speed and heat switches in the High (II) position, fast styling
speed and hottest air.

COOL /HOT BUTTON: Use this feature to set the style in place. Press the
button until you hear a click and release for cool air. Press and release the
button again for hot air. Repeat this process everytime you want to
change the air temperature.

AIR CONCENTRATOR: The air concentrator attaches to the end of the
dryer barrel. The air concentrator allows airflow to be directed on a small
section of hair at a time when hair is styled and shaped with a vent brush
or comb. It can also be used to build body and fullness into fine, thin hair
by directing the airflow against the natural growth pattern of the hair.

Attachment will be hot during use. Allow it to cool before handling.
STYLING PIK: The styling pik attaches to the end of the dryer barrel. It lifts,

smoothes and builds body and volume into permed or naturally curly hair.
The curl pattern in overly curly hair can be smoothed by combing the hair
repeatedly with the pik from the scalp down.

To Attach Pik: Slide the styling pik onto the dryer barrel.

Care and Cleaning

This appliance is permanently lubricated and will not require any
additional lubrication. It contains no user serviceable parts.

CLEANING

1. Unplug dryer and let it cool completely before cleaning.

2. Wipe the surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth. DO NOT LET WATER
OR ANY OTHER LIQUID GET INTO THE APPLIANCE.

3. Clean intake grille with a small brush to remove lint or hair buildup.
To remove grille, grasp it by notches located on rim, twist
counterclockwise and pull off. To replace grille, align tabs on the inside
of the grille with corresponding slots on the dryer, snap grille into place
and turn clockwise until it is firmly attached to the dryer housing.

STORAGE

• Store dryer in a clean, dry place with cord loosely coiled.

• Do not put any stress on cord where it enters the handle, as it could

cause cord to fray and possibly break.

• Do not hang unit by the power cord; use the hanging ring.

Before returning unit for service: Clean the removable air intake grille as

well as the fixed grille attached to the unit with a small brush or a vacuum
cleaner brush attachment. Then try to operate unit again.

Siempre que use el secador, oprima el botón de reinicio del dispositivo de
seguridad para reactivarlo y asegurarse que está funcionando
apropiadamente.

CUIDADO ESPECIAL

• Esta unidad se apagará de inmediato si llegase a detectar cualquier

peligro de choque eléctrico. Oprima el botón de reinicio del dispositivo
de seguridad ESP®/ALCI para reactivar el circuito.

• La unidad ha sido diseñada con una capa de recubrimiento que

• A fin de evitar quemaduras, no toque el sistema de calentamiento del

secador.

• Para evitar posibles quemaduras al cuero cabelludo o al cabello, use la

posición y la velocidad más caliente sólo cuando el cabello esté
mojado. Reduzca la temperatura a medida el cabello se vaya secando.

• No dirija el calor a una sola sección del cabello; mantenga el secador

en movimiento constante. Esto es muy importante especialmente al
secar pelucas que pueden dañarse con el calor.

• Para lograr máximo flujo de aire, sujete el secador a una distancia no

menor de seis pulgadas de la cabeza.

• A fin de prolongar la vida útil del secador, se recomienda ajustarlo a la

temperatura más fría por unos segundos antes de apagarlo.

• Desenrolle el cable de vez en cuando para evitar que se enrede.

COMO USAR SU SECADOR

Este secador le da la opción de escoger entre dos velocidades y cuatro
posiciones para el ajuste de temperaturas. Use la temperatura/velocidad
más alta para la mayoría de peinados y tipos de cabellos. Seleccione la
temperatura/velocidad baja para el acabado del peinado o para el
secado y el arreglo de cabellos con permanente, teñidos o frágiles.

Para ajustar las posiciones de temperatura y velocidad, haga funcionar
los interruptores como sigue:

Con ambos interruptores de velocidad y temperatura en la posición Baja
(Low) (I), la velocidad baja y aire tibio.

Con el interruptor de velocidad en la posición Baja (Low) (I) y el
interruptor de temperatura en la posición Alta (High) (II), velocidad baja y
aire caliente.

Con el interruptor de velocidad en la posición Alta (High) (II), y el
interruptor de temperatura en la posición Baja (Low) (I), velocidad rápida
y aire caliente.

Con ambos interruptores de velocidad y temperatura en la posición Alta
(High) (II), velocidad rápida y el aire más caliente.

Botón de aire frío COOL SHOT ™: Utilice este dispositivo para fijar el
peinado. Oprima el botón hasta que escuche un clic y suéltelo para la
emisión de aire frío, luego repita el mismo proceso para la emisión de
aire caliente.

CONCENTRADOR DE AIRE: El concentrador de aire se instala fácilmente
al extremo del cuerpo del secador. El concentrador de aire permite dirigir
el flujo de aire directamente a una sección pequeña de cabello a la vez,
en particular cuando se le ha dado forma o se estilizado el cabello con
un cepillo o peine de escape. Sirve también para realzar y darle cuerpo
al cabello fino permitiendo dirigir el flujo de aire en dirección contraria a
las raíces del cabello.

Este accesorio permanece caliente cuando está en uso. Permita que se
enfríe antes de tocarlo.

PEINE DE ESTILIZAR: El peine de estilizar está sujeto al extremo del

cuerpo del secador y es apropiado para alzar, suavizar y dar volumen al
cabello rizado o tratado con permanente. El cabello excesivamente
rizado se puede alisar pasando el peine repetidas veces desde las raíces
hacia las puntas.

Para instalar el peine: Deslice el peine de estilizar en el cuerpo del
secador.

Cuidado y Limpieza

Este aparato trae lubricante permanente de fábrica y no requiere
lubricación adicional a lo largo de su vida útil. No contiene partes de
utilidad para el consumidor.

LIMPIEZA

1. Desconecte el secador y permita que se enfríe por completo antes de
limpiarlo.

2. Utilice un paño suave humedecido para limpiar la superficie de la
unidad. NO PERMITA LA PENETRACION DE AGUA NI DE NINGUN
OTRO LIQUIDO ADENTRO DEL SECADOR.

3. Limpie la rejilla de admisión de aire con una escobilla pequeña para
remover cualquier acumulación de pelusa o de pelo. Para retirar la
parrilla, sosténgala por las aberturas ubicadas en la borde, dándole
vuelta hacia la izquerida y retírela. Para colocar la parrilla, alinee las
guías interiores de la rejilla con las ranuras correspondientes del
secador, ajuste la rejilla en su lugar y gire hacia la derecha hasta
quedar bien enganchada al cuerpo del secador.

ALMACENAMIENTO

• Almacene el secador en un lugar limpio, seco, con el cable enrollado

holgadamente.

• A fin de evitar que el cable se debilite y se rompa, no aplique presión

excesiva a la unión del cable con la unidad.

• No cuelgue el secador por el cable sino que utilice el aro provisto.

Antes de devolver la unidad para cualquier servicio o revisión: Por favor,

retire la rejilla removible de admisión de aire que viene sujeta al secador
y límpie la rejilla removible y la rejilla fija sujeta a la cubierta del secador
con una escobilla pequeña o use el accesorio de cepillo de la aspiradora.
Luego encienda el secador nuevamente para comprobar si está
funcionando apropiadamente.

ENCHUFE POLARIZADO

Esta unidad tiene un enchufe polarizado en el que una clavija/contacto
es más ancha que la otra. Como medida de seguridad, este enchufe
entra en una toma de corriente polarizada en un solo sentido. Si el
enchufe no encaja en la toma, inviértalo e intente enchufarlo de

POLARIZED PLUG

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
As a safety feature, this plug fits in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit into the outlet, reverse the plug and try again.

LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS

1. Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance.

2. To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet.
