5 Installation and operation

5.1 Installation

Unpacking / Positioning
• Unpack the appliance, remove all external and internal packaging elements and shipment safeguards.
• If the appliance is covered with a protective film, remove it. Remove the film slowly, so no glue residues are left. Remove any glue residues with the use of a suitable solvent.
• Be careful not to damage the rating plate and warning labels fixed on the appliance.
• Never place the appliance in humid or wet environment.
• Place the appliance in a way making the connections easily accessible, so that
they may be quickly disconnected if such a need arises.
• The appliance should be placed on surfaces that are:
– even, with sufficient bearing capacity, resistant to water, dry and resistant
to high temperatures;
– sufficiently large, and thus enabling usage of the appliance with no
problems;
– easily accessible; – well ventilated.
• Install the appliance as far as possible from zones, where people are present.
• Do not place any easily flammable liquids, gases or any other flammable objects
near the appliance.
• In a room, install the appliance in an area, where insects converge, but not in places, where draughts or wind may be present (windows, doors).
• Keep all electricity conducting materials away from the appliance. Never (especially during operation) place any metal objects in the appliance nor on the metal grid.
• If possible, place the appliance at the height of 1.5–2 meters, in a semi-shaded are.
10 / 14 300351
Page 13
Installation and operation
EN
• The appliance may also be hung at the ceiling of a room.
• The appliance is equipped with eyes for hanging, which are located behind
covers in top corners of the housing. In order to hang the appliance, remove the covers and fix a suitable chain in the eyes for hanging. No chain is included in the delivery!
• Make sure the appliance is securely fixed (nails, bolts, etc.). Such a fixture should withstand the weight of the appliance.
• Then, hang the appliance on the prepared fixture.
Power supply connection
• Verify if technical data of the appliance (see rating plate) correspond with the local electric power grid specification.
• Connect the appliance to a single, properly grounded mains socket with protective contact. Do not connect the appliance to a multi-socket.
• The power cord should be laid in a way preventing anyone from threading on it or tripping against it.

5.2 Operation

Indications and Tips
• Do not use the appliance in bright light, as it deteriorates its efficiency.
• Before switching on other sources of light in a room, first switch the insect killer for 10–20 minutes.
• We recommend using it for 24 hours. Repeated switching the appliance on and
off shortens the life of fluorescent lamps.
• When operating the appliance, make sure that:
– the metal grid is correctly fit and undamaged – wires of the metal cage are running parallel against each other – there is a clearance maintained between wires, so that they do not come
in contact.
NOTE! Otherwise, the effectiveness of the appliance will be lower.

WARNING
After switching the appliance off, a certain residual voltage still remains on the metal grid.
Never operate the appliance with bear and wet hands. Do not touch the metal grid with a rod made of an electrically conducting
material. Use an insulated rod to discharge the load (with a metal tip).
Switching the Appliance ON/OFF
1. Before use, clean the appliance observing instructions in section 6 'Cleaning'.
2. Then dry the appliance thoroughly.
3. Plug the appliance into a suitable single socket.
4. Switch the appliance on with the ON/OFF switch.
The appliance is equipped with UV-A LED lamps, which effectively lure insects. The appliance kills insects by means of an electric shock of 4,000 V at an electrically charged metal grid.
Insects fall into an easily removable drawer.
5. When the appliance is not to be used any more, it should be switched off with the ON/OFF switch.
6. Disconnect the appliance from power supply (pull the plug out).
