servicing to qualified service personnel.
Maximum and minimu m ambient temperature:
The maximum ambient temperature for the LED wall is 40°C (104°F), the minimum temperature is 0°C (32°F).
X-series tiles have an internal temperature sensor that lowers the brightness of the tile when internal temperature is too high. The brightness will return to normal when the internal temperature has cooled sufficiently.
Low Voltage Surge Protection Device requ ired
Due to the damaging effects of lightning, utility switching and switching electric motors of other users on the mains, this product
needs to be protected by means of a Surge Protection Device. If this product is connected to the mains through the power box
from Barco this protection device is already incorporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If th

EN61643-11 or UL 1449 is in place.
High leakage current:
The combination of multiple tiles in an installation results in increased levels of leakage current. In order to avoid risk of electric
shock due to high leakage current, proper grounding of the installation is required.
Flammable materials:
Keep flammable materials away from the installation (such as curtains). A lot of energy is transferred into heat. The installation
should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the
be provided.
ESD and LED’s:
LED components used in X-series tiles are ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) sensitive. To prevent the possibility of destroying LED
components do not touch either in operation or while switched off. Always use ESD-gloves.

Mains cords:
The power cords delivered with this system have special properties for safety. They are not user serviceable. If the power cords are
damaged, replace them only with new ones. Never try to repair a power cord.
LED’s:
The LED’s used on the X-series tiles are fragile. Never push with a hard or sharp object onto the lens of the LED as this may cause
damage to the LED. The maximum allowed load upon the lens of the LED is 300 gram/LED. Be careful when installing a shader
upon the X-series tiles. Shaders only fit in one direction and this should be verified before pushing into final position. Use your bare
fingers (not nails) to press the shader over the LED’s. Use your finger nails to press upon the framework of the shader between the
LED’s (not upon the LED’s) to push the shader in its final position.
Do not hot plug:
Do not hot plug any cables. Damage to the connector pins may occur. Resulting damage is not covered under warranty.
Maximum allowed display height:
The maximum height of a X-series display in a base stand configuration is 10 tiles X2/X4 or 9 tiles X1.6/X1.9. The maximum height

1.4Proper usage
Proper usage of X-series tiles
•No part of the X-series tile can come in contact with any type of moisture.
•No part of the X-series tile can come in contact with any type of abrasive.
•No part of the X-series tile can come in contact with any type of dust.
•No part of the X-series tile can come in contact with any type of corrosive substance.
•Using the LED product in an environment with high corrosive gasses (e.g. Sulphur) can lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a change in brightness of the product. This could lead to uniformity differences and possibly also to
failures. Each use of the product in this kind of environment needs to be checked up-front with the supplier.
•X-series tiles are to be used in environments meeting the operating specifications.
•X-series tiles are not to be used in environments that are subject to airborne contaminants such as that produced by smoke
machines (cracked oil) or similar (these deposit a thin layer of greasy residue upon the LED’s optics, degrading performance).
•X-series tiles are not to be exposed to extreme localized heat or cold exceeding the temperature specifications.
•X-series tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will cause any part ofthe display to heat beyond what occurs
during normal operation. Such situations include but are not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, or any type of substance that
prevents proper ventilation and heat radiation of the X-series tiles.
•X-series tiles are not to be exposed to circumstances where moisture can condense or collect on any components.
•Power connected to the X-series tiles must meet the specifications outlined in the installation manual.
•Avoid any accidental bumping of the tile corners while installing or removing the X-series tiles. Since LED’s of the X-series tiles
are mounted near by the edges of the LED boards, which is unavoidable in the design of a high resolution LED-wall, the corners
of the X-series tiles become sensitive for mechanical damage. Because of that it is required to handle the X-series tiles with
care at all times.
•Never place an X-series tile upon a surface with the LED’s facing downwards without protection. This to prevent damage to the
LED’s and the soft lens of the LED’s.
•While removing or installing the X-series tile always keep the LED side of the X-series tile parallel with the LED side of the
remaining neighboring X-series tiles. This to avoid any mechanical stress upon the corners of the X-series tiles.
•No force can be applied to the LED’s. Any LED’s damaged due to mechanical stress are not covered by the warranty.
•Safety and functional features of the display cannot be defeated.
•It is not allowed to climb or hang any additional equipment on the back of an X-series wall. Nothing is to be allowed to hang
from the cables of an X-series tile.
•Any failures must be immediately and appropriately dealt with (equipment returned to Barco). Failing equipment cannot be left
to run in a wall.
•No additional tools (hammers, pry-bars, etc.) are to be used to force handles or locks into place. All moving parts should be
managed by hand.
•Only Barco cables specified to be used with the X-series display are to be used to connect components in the X-series wall.
Further, care must be taken to connect signal only according to the installation manual.
•X-series tiles are not to be used in the vicinity of any equipment that is not CE and UL/ETL certified.
•X-series tiles are not to be transported for any distance in containers other than custom flight cases or Barco single unit or
multiple unit packaging. Further, even the use of custom flight cases
tiles against damage due to excessive force of impacts. X-series packing material can be ordered at Barco. All warranty claims
regarding damaged X-seriess due to incorrect packing will be rendered invalid.
•X-series tiles are not to be connected to any non-Barco equipment.
•When hanging X-series tiles, only Barco X-series trusses can be used and they must be installed and connected according to
the manual. Improper hanging of X-series tiles can result in excessive forces on the structural components of the X-series tiles.
•When stacking or hanging X-series tiles, theguidelines outlined in the installation manual mustbe followed to prevent movement
of the display (including tipping). Further, X-series tiles are only to be installed vertically. Any tipping of a display will cause
undue stress on the structural components of the X-series tiles, and could even allow the X-series wall to fall.
•When stacking X-series tiles, X-series tiles can be stacked up to 2 t
•When reconnecting components in an X-series tile, care must be taken to ensure that cables are carefully routed according to
the installation manual to prevent damage to the cables or other parts of the X-series tile.
•X-series tiles can be cleaned only in accordance to the procedures defined in the installation manual.
•The X-series display is an indoor product. Use the X-series tiles only in a dry area away from direct sunlight, dust and moisture.
Never install and use the X-series tiles in an outdoor environment.

In order to build the X-series display, the tiles must be connected using connection pieces. Four types of standard connection pieces
are available as well as four types of advanced (rental) connection pieces(see also "Overview of standard connection piece types",
page 22 and "Overview of advanced (rental) connection piece types", page 23).
WARNING: Maximum weight limit of the triple truss/floor beam is 312 kg and the quad truss/floor beam can
maximum lift 416 kg. This weight corresponds with a maximum display height of 16 tiles X-series tiles. Do
not put any additional weight on the truss/floor beam and use the truss/floor beams only in conjunction with
Barco’s X-series tiles.
WARNING: Always secure all truss/floor beams of a hanging X-series display with the truss installation. The
safety cable has to be placed through the inner frame of the truss/floor beam. Secure each truss with an
independent safety cable.

with the local regulations regarding such installations and that the truss installation will be able to support
the complete load of the X-series display.
CAUTION: Use cotton gloves to handle t he X-series tiles.
Setup process
1. The first stage in the process is the installation of the truss/floor beam on the truss installation. Join multiple truss/floor beams if
needed (see "Joining multiple X-series truss/floor beams", page 41).
Caution:Make sure an R-Clip is installed on both ends (left and right extremes) of the truss/floor beam assembly. In
case of mu ltiple truss/floor beams, remo ve all other R-Clips a t the joints between the truss/floor beam s. This
is required to assure the good function of the truss/floor beam assembly.

WARNING: The maximum height of a base stand X-se ries display is 10 tiles X2/X4 or 9 tiles X1.6/X1.9.
CAUTION: Use cotton gloves to handle t he X-series tiles.
For some applications it is not allowed that the foot beams stick out in front of the LED-wall. The illustrations
below shows the possibility to built up the X-series display a t the front of the foot beams. Note that such a
configuration always requires extra ballast upon the other end of the foot beams to ensure the stability of the
whole LED-wall. Nevertheless, a lot of applications allow to build up the LED-wall in the middle o f the foot
beams. This configuration requires less or no ballast upon the foot b eams. Consu lt the “Ballast calculator”
on the secured Barco w eb site.
Setup process
1. The first stage in the process is the assembly of a solid and level foot construction, which has to support the whole display. Such
a construction consists of foot beams, adjustable feet (optional) and truss/floor beams. Finally, ballast has to be placed upon the
foot beams to prevent the wall from possible tipping. Assembly of the foot construction has to be done in following sequence:
a) Installation of the adjustable feet on the foot beams. Note that this is optional. See procedure "Installing an adjustable foot
(option) on a foot beam", page 40, for detailed installation instructions.
b) Installation of the truss/floor beams upon the foot beams. See procedure "Installing X-series truss/floor beams upon foot
beams", page 42.
c) Attach the foot beams to the ground with fixings and/or place the necessary ballast upon the foot beams. Ensure that the
foot beams are supported every 50 centimeters. This to prevent bending of the beam. Note that the ballast has to be placed
between the end and the last 30 cm of the foot beam. Consult the “Ballast calculator” on the secured Barco web site.
Image 5-6
Tip:To prevent losing unused R-C lips, clip them on the truss/floor beam cable in the vicinity o f its original location.
Tip:Place rubber mats between the foot beams of the LED wall and the smooth surface to increase friction. This will reduce
the ballast required to prevent sliding.

6. BASIC SET UP PROCEDURES
About this chapter
This chapter contains all installation procedures necessary to handle the X-series components, to set up an X-series display and to
remove the X-series tiles from an X-series display. These procedures describe, with detailed step by step actions and illustrations,
how to install the X-series display in a hanging configuration.
CAUTION: Never touch the LED side of the X-series tile. Avoid any accidental bumping of the X-serie
corners. Since LED’s of the X-series tiles are mounted near by the edges of the LED boards, which is unavoidable in the design of a high resolution LED-wall, the corners of the X-series tiles become sen sitive for
mechanical damage. Because of that it is required to handle the X-series tiles with care at a

7.1X-series tile connectivity
Connectivity
There are seven connection ports on the back of an X-series tile. Two power sockets (one input and one output) at the left and four
bidirectional data ports. Two data ports at the left side and two data ports at the right side. There is also one USB port for service
purposes.

3Dual data input/output port — Left.
4Dual data input/output port — Right.
5USB service port
The data ports consist of two dualSFP+ sockets. The tile automatic detects the incoming signal on one of the two dual SFP+ sockets.
The other dual socket will automatically act as output port. So, it doesn’t matter on which data input socket, left or right, the data is
coming in. The X-series tile switches the functionality of the SFP+ sockets spontaneously between input and output. Barco provides
short data linking cables with SFP+ plugs, which are used to realize the dual data path from tile to tile in a daisy chain manner.
The power input connector consist in a circular socket type. Barco provides X-series power spider cables, which subdivide power
from the power source to series of tiles of maximum (see table under 7.2) tiles each.

Power boxes
Barco provides several types of power boxes. Depending on the size of the X-series display you can choose to use the mono phase
power box or the custom made power box or the power box. The type of power box does not influence the power cabling of the
X-series display. See installation manual of the concerned power box for installation instructions.
Low Voltage Surge Protection Device requ ired
Due to the damaging effects of lightning, utility switching and switching electric motors of other use
needs to be protected by means of a Surge Protection Device. If this product is connected to the mains through the power box
from Barco this protection device is already incorporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If this product is connected to
the mains through a power distribution box from another party, please verify that a Low Voltage Su

•Power box(es) with matching cables.
•Power spider connector.
How to realize the power cabling of the X-series display?
1. Install the power box nearby the X-series display. Ensure the power box provides as much power circuits as required to energize
the display in a safe manner. If necessary, install several power boxes. See manual of the used power box for installation
instructions.
2. Connect a power source cable coming from the power box with the power spider cable.
Note: Depending on the type of used power box, a multi pow er cable in combination with a spider connector is inserted between
the power box and the power source cable lea
the cabling between power box and X-series display.
3. Connect one output of the spider connector with one of the tiles in the LED-display. Start with a tile at the bottom.
4. Create a power branch of maximum (see table under 7.2) tiles.
Warning: Risk of electric shock / Risk of fire:
To protect a gainst risk of fire caused by overloading of power cables, MAXIMUM (see table under 7.2) may be connected in parallel. Each power source cable supplying maximum (see table under 7.2) should be pr otected by a
circuit breaker or fuses rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A / 250 VAC in the U SA and Canada). Note that one X-series tile
requires 100- 240 VAC, 16 A, 50-60 Hz, X2/X4: 0.55 A at 230 VAC, X1.6/X1.9: 0.85 A at 230 VAC.
Tip:Create as much as pos sible vertical power branches. Only include tiles of neighboring columns in case the power branch
is less than (see table under 7.2) high.

7.3Data cabling of the X-series display
Purpose of redundancy loop
When a data cable between 2 tiles is removed or seriously damaged so that the data link is interrupted, all next tiles in the string will
loose their data link. In other words, a part of the display fails. To prevent this a redundancy loop can be created. If a redundancy
loop is created then the last tile will detect that there is data available on the other side (input from the redundant cable) and will
change direction. All other tiles will change their direction too so that video signal is supplied from the last tile up to the tile that had
the failure. The correct image is restored.
Note that the setup of a redundancy loop is optional.
Necessary parts
•Two short data linking cables per tile.
•One long data linking cable (maximum 5 meter) per Infinipix™ NP100.
•One long data linking cable (maximum 5 meter) for the redundancy loop per Infinipix™ NP100.
How to realize the data cabling of an X-series display?
1. Connect the fiber kit data linking cable coming from the Infinipix™ NP100, with the data port of one of the tiles in the corner of
the X-series. Use one of the dual ports at the outer side of the display as input port.
2. Connect on of the dual ports on the other side of the tile with one of the dual data ports of the neighboring tile.
3. Continue to complete the data path of the display by connecting all following tiles with a data linking cable to each other in a daisy
chain manner. This daisy chain linking can be realized either in horizontal, which is recommended, or in vertical direction.
4. Specify in the setup controlling software how the data path is realized (horizontal or vertical) and which tile is the first in the chain.

The example above shows the data cabling of an X-series display. The data path is realized in horizontal direction and starts in the
lower left corner, seen from the rear. The settings in the control software refer to the display seen from the front. So, the first tile in
the data path has to be indicated as the lower right tile of the display.
