1. INTRODUCTION
This bulletin details how to remedy a “TANK ERROR” message. In most cases, to correct the problem, it is simply a matter
of zeroing the scale platform, setting the empty tank weight and setting the capacity of the tank
2. APPLICABILITY
This Technical Bulletin applies to the Ultra MAC 2000 series Automatic Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling, Recharging,
Flushing System for Automotive Applications.
3. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
Instruction Manual supplied with your instrument.
4. REMEDY
4.1. First be sure that the recovery tank is centered on the scale platform and is not against the frame or housing of
the Ultra Mac or that the scale cord is not damaged, unplugged or loose.
4.2. With the Ultra Mac initially turned off, press and hold keypad key # 6 while turning it on. There is no need to keep
pressing key # 6 after the Ultra Mac powers-up. The following screen will be displayed:
4.3. Make a note of the following information that is stamped on the collar of the recovery cylinder:
· T.W. – This is the Tare Weight (empty weight) of the cylinder.
· W.C. – This is the Water Capacity (tank capacity) of the cylinder.
4.4. Use the A (Up) or B (Down) key to set the correct empty weight (T.W. # as marked on the recovery cylinder), then
press the START key to advance to the next screen to set the tank capacity.
4.5. Use the A (Up) or B (Down) key to set the correct tank capacity weight (W. C. # as marked on the recovery
cylinder) then press the START key to finish.

4.6. Last, calibrate the scale. This will zero the scale without any weight on it. To calibrate it power off the Ultra MAC
and press and hold down the ENTER key while turning it on. There is no need to keep pressing the ENTER key
after the Ultra Mac powers-up. The following screen will be displayed:
4.7. Repeatedly press the START key until the following screen is displayed:
4.8. Press the ENTER key and then remove the remove the tank from the
scale and hang it on the hook located above the tank.
4.9. When the tank is removed from the scale, press the ENTER key to calibrate it. When the calibration is complete
(takes a few seconds), replace the tank back on the scale. Scale calibration is complete.
