IftheAxisproductislocatedonanintranet(LAN)andyouwanttomakeitavailablefromtheother(WAN)sideofaNAT(Network AddressTranslator)router,turnonNATtraversal.WithNATtraversalproperlycongured,allHTTPtrafctoanexternalHTTPport intheNATrouterisforwardedtotheproduct.

Howtosettherootpassword

ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.

Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage39.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage50.

Tosetthepassword,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

SetPowerLineFrequency

PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage50) orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

Note

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof theworlduse50Hz.Localvariationscouldapply.Alwayscheckwiththelocalauthorities.

Aboutmediastreams

TheAxisproductprovidesseveralvideostreamformats.Yourrequirementsandthepropertiesofyournetworkwilldeterminethe typeyouuse.

TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.

AboutH.264format

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum imagequality .Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage, selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency. TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.

Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow ,itcancause movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.

Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto settingcanbeused. YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata. WhenShutterandGainarebothsettoAuto,itispossibletosetthePrioritybetweenlowmotionblurandlownoisemanuallyandto useadifferentPriorityinNormalLightandinLowLight.
