First Start-up and Firmware Upgrade
5.1 Setup for TV Mode
1. Press (SET UP) button on the remote
control.

Select Setup from the Main Menu.
2. Select Network Setup > IP Setup, and
enable DHCP or set your static IP address
according to your local configuration.
Press OK to confirm.
Please set the video source selector of your TV to
match the connection from your AVerLife
ExtremeVision Media Player. For example, if you
use HDMI, set the TV to use the correspondent
HDMI input port.

Check the TV display by going to Setup > System Setup > TV Mode Setup > Resolution.
NOTE: You can press (SET UP) on the remote control to enter Setup Main Menu, then
use▲/▼ to select an item. Press OK to confirm the selection.
If you use HDMI, press (OUTPUT) on the remote control to toggle among various video
resolutions. You can run through the TV modes to get the correct display mode.

Press OK to start the setup wizard.
3. Select “Wireless” and press OK to
continue the setup.
4. You can see a list of available wireless
networks. Select one of the networks that
you wish to connect to from the list.

*Input the network password if required.
*If the network you choose is locked by
password, a “Lock” icon will be shown.
*The signal strength is indicated by the
RED (poor quality), YELLOW (fair quality)
or GREEN (good quality) light.
5.3 Wireless Network Setup (Optional)
AVerLife ExtremeVision Media Player supports wireless Ethernet with a USB Wi-Fi dongle
supplied by AVerMedia. And please be noted that a USB Wi-Fi dongle not authorized by
AVerMedia is NOT supported.
For video of very high bit rate, streaming with a wired connection between AVerLife
ExtremeVision Media Player and home router is recommended. Playing music and photo with
wireless connection is fine.

1. Please visit http://www.avermedia.com to
download the latest updated firmware
binary package. Extract the file by
unzipping the package. Drag and drop the
file named “upgrade.bin” onto the root
directory of your USB device, and then
connect it to the AVerLife ExtremeVision
Media Player.
2. Select Setup Main Menu > Version >
Firmware Update > USB Upgrade.
3. Select Yes to start the firmware upgrade
process. This process will finish in a few
minutes.
5.4 Firmware Upgrade Procedure
AVerMedia regularly releases the latest version of firmware for AVerLife ExtremeVision Media
Player. Having the latest firmware enhances the functionality of AVerLife ExtremeVision Media
Player. There are two ways to upgrade the firmware of AVerLife ExtremeVision Media Player: (1)
via USB storage device, and (2) via the Internet. Please make sure AVerLife ExtremeVision
Media Player is connected to the Internet beforehand.
Upgrading the Firmware via USB storage device:
To update the firmware via USB storage, Please refer to the following procedure:
* To check the upgrade result, please go to Setup > Version to check the firmware
version.

Upgrading the Firmware via the Internet
1.Select Setup Main Menu > Version >
Firmware Update > Internet Upgrade.
2. The system will then automatically search
for the available firmware code from the
Internet. Select Yes if you would like to
proceed.
Once the process finished, AVerLife
ExtremeVision Media Player reboots
automatically.
*NEVER power off the device during the
process. If the firmware upgrade is interrupted
for any reason, the device may crash and will
no longer be able to be powered on.
To upgrade the firmware via the Internet, Please refer to the following procedure:
* To check the upgrade result, please go to Setup > Version to check the firmware version.

1. Use ▲/▼ to select one of the UPnP
servers that you wish to access. Press OK
to confirm.
*The available UPnP server is marked with the icon
next to it.

Before playing the media files, please choose one of the sources among your own storage device, UPnP server, and Samba server. All the available sources will be detected and shown
automatically under "Multimedia” on the main menu.
6.1 UPnP
This feature enables you to access the shared media content from the UPnP servers on your
local network. Before using this function, please make sure the AVerLife ExtremeVision Media
Player is properly connected to a LAN with Internet access. AVerLife ExtremeVision Media
Player automatically detects all the available UPnP servers on your local network. No additional
configuration is required on the AVerLife XVision HD.
The following steps show how to access media through UPnP:
* Please make sure AVerLife ExtremeVision Media Player is not on the firewall block list of your
UPnP servers.

6.2 Network Neighborhood (Samba Client)

This feature enables you to access shared media content from the NAS device or computer on
the same network. Before using this function, please make sure: (1) the AVerLife ExtremeVision
Media Player is properly connected to a LAN with Internet access, and (2) no firewall is blocking
the shares from remote sites. No additional configuration is required on the AVerLife XVision
HD.
The following steps show how to access media through the Samba Client Protocol:

Note: The number of USB ports can be extended by a USB hub, please be careful of the extra
power consumption for the extra devices. AVerLife ExtremeVision Media Player itself supplies
limited power (1.1A) for the USB port.
* If you want to select “media viewing mode” (thumbnail / list), “sorting ways” (AZ / ZA /
by size), or “BGM” , Press (Func) to select the function keys, then use / to move among
options. Press OK to confirm.
In Video & Music playback mode:
Press to start media playback / Press to pause or resume the playback.
In Photo viewing mode:
Press to view the selected photo in full-screen. Press again to start
the slideshow.

Description on the Sidebar:
The side menu bar on the left of the screen offers access to several video filters, searching
function, settings page, and YouTube information.
Videos:
The Videos tab provides access to spotlight, top rated, and most viewed videos. The “More”
link offers additional categories that you can navigate to.
For top rated and most viewed videos, you can switch the time-based filter from “Today” to “This week” or “All Time”.
Use ▲/▼/◄ / ► on the remote to navigate and OK to select a video from the list.
If you would like to view video in full-screen mode, press (ZOOM) on the remote. Press (ZOOM) again to exit from the full-screen mode.

On the video page, there are five buttons on the bottom. You can select “Info” to display video
information and “Related” to see related video entries.
Note: Login-related functions (“Favorite”, “Flag”, and “Share”) are not supported on AVerLife
ExtremeVision Media Player.
To go to the previous page, select < on the left of the screen and press OK.
Search:
Search tab provides access to search box that you can search for videos.
To do a quick search, select the search box and then input the keyword using the remote
control. Press OK to confirm. The results are listed with thumbnails and titles.

Settings:
Several settings options are available in the Settings tab.
To turn on the function of auto-playing the next video, select “Play next video when current video ends” and press OK to tick a checked mark.
To enable parental control and filter inappropriate videos content, select “Filter videos that
may not be suitable for minors” and press OK to tick a checked mark.

7.9 BitTorrent Download
1. Select <<Add New Torrent>>. Press OK to
confirm.
2. Then use ▲/▼ to navigate to the
directory in which the .torrent files are
stored. Press OK to add a new torrent.
BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large amounts of data.
Before using this function, please make sure your network is properly set up.
Note: An external storage device is required for BitTorrent downloading. Please note that only
NTFS file system is supported.
Please follow the steps below to download torrent files:
Adding New Torrent:
*To ensure a smooth download speed, keep the ongoing tasks as many as 3 at top.
*The downloaded files will be stored in the “bt” folder on the external HDD. Please make sure
you have enough space on your storage device.
*NEVER remove the HDD or disconnect the power supply of AVerLife ExtremeVision Media
Player during torrent files download; otherwise, the download progress will not be saved and
you will be unable to continue where you left off next time you power on the device.
*AVerLife ExtremeVision Media Player supports direct BT torrent downloading on certain
webpages.

1. Transferring the .torrent files to your own
storage device and then plug it into
AVerLife ExtremeVision Media Player.
2. Power on AVerLife ExtremeVision Media
Player.
3. Select BitTorrent Download on the main

Q: Why can’t I see anything on TV screen?
Answer: Please select the correct signal input on your TV set. If you connect the player to TV
via HDMI, please select the right HDMI port no. on your TV set; if you connect the player to TV
via A/V port, please select the right A/V port no. on your TV set.
Q: Why can’t I connect the player to my home network?
Answer: If you use wireless connection, please make sure the right encryption way is selected
and right password is entered.
Q: Is USB HDD External Enclosure not supported?
Answer: Please use external power supply for USB HDD External Enclosure.
