Overview
The LSI SAS 9206-16e, quad port, host bus adapter provides high performance acheiving over 1
million IOPs for high-end servers and storage applications. The LSI SAS 9206-16e provides 16 lanes of
6Gb/s SAS data transfer rates. The adapter complies with the latest PCI Express 3.0 specication with
8Gb/s per lane. The adapter is backward compatible with previous PCIe generations and provides
SAS and SATA data transfer rates of 6 and 3Gb/s per lane through automatic speed negotiation. LSI
provides a complete suite of industry standard operating system drivers. The LSI SAS 9206-16e has
four (x4) external mini SAS HD connectors (SFF8644) enabling a low prole solution.

The LSI SAS host bus adapters are based on the Fusion MPT™ architected SAS controllers, which
implements LSI Fusion-MPT (Message Passing Technology) architecture. Each controller features
embedded-processors that deliver maximum host CPU ooad. The built-in intelligence enables LSI
to publish a single binary OS driver to operate any Fusion MPT controller or adapter. The architecture
enables high performance, reduced software development, and faster time to market.
