OBD-II DLC Port
Connect the mini-B connector of this hardwire kit to your AUKEY or other dash camera, and connect the OBD-II DLC port adapter to the OBD-II DLC port of your car’s fuse box (see notes below) Use the 3M adhesive pad to stick the motion detection sensor to the windshield in a position similar to that shown in the above diagram Arrange the cable conveniently and safely so it won’t distract you or dangle in the way of the car foot pedals or door. Careful placement of the cable and use of existing trim to conceal it will give a tidier finish

3.
It is advisable to connect and test the hardwire kit to ensure it operates correctly and supplies power to your dash camera before fixing the motion sensor and tidying up the cable All cars sold within the U.S. from 1996 (European courtries from 2000) onward have the OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics II) 16-pin DLC (Data Link Connector) port. It will be located under the dash within two feet of the steering wheel, usually just underneath the steering column or near the fuse panel
Notes
- 03 -
Motion detection mode is power efficient because the camera only operates when triggered and for short periods at a time The hardwire kit automatically cuts off power if battery voltage drops to 11.6V, to protect the car battery and avoid excessive discharge. However, it is advisable to disconnect power by unplugging the OBD-II DLC port adapter when the car is parked or stored for longer periods
Parking Mode
All AUKEY dash cameras and many other dash cameras feature a motion detection recording mode (parking mode). With this mode switched on and the hardwire kit successfully installed, your dash camera will start recording when motion is detected within 2 – 3m / 6.56 – 9.84ft. The hardwire kit motion detection sensor provides 360° detection for improved coverage compared to dash camera visual detection. The camera will operate even when the car ignition is turned off.
Notes
- 04 -
Refer to your car owner’s manual (or similar information online) for the location of the fuse box and the OBD-II DLC port if they’re difficult to locate by visual inspection When connecting the OBD-II DLC port adapter, be careful not to touch or accidentally loosen fuse box wires. Loose wiring may cause operational and safety issues Position the parts of the kit and its cable safely so it won’t obscure your view or get in the way of your feet and the foot pedals Compatible with all dash cameras with mini-B power input, including AUKEY DR01, DR02, and DR02 D
