To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove
screws. No user-serviceable parts are inside. Refer
servicing to qualified personnel.
WARNING: To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not
expose this unit to rain or moisture, either direct or
through dripping or splashing.
The lightening flash with arrowhead
symbol within an equilateral triangle
is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated “dangerous
voltage” within the product’s
enclosure that may be sufficient
enough to constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an
equilateral triangle is intended to
alert the user to the presence of
important operating and
maintenance instructions in the
literature accompanying the unit.
2. Read and Retain Instructions
All the safety and operating instructions should be
read before the unit is operated, and instructions
should be retained for future reference.

The unit should be cleaned only as recommended by
the manufacturer. Do not use chemical cleaners.
14. Protect From Lightning
For added protection, unplug the unit from the wall
outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system
during a lightning storm or when it is left unattended
and unused for long periods of time. This will prevent
damage from lightning and power line surges.
15. Do Not Overload
Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or
integral convenience receptacles, as this can result in
a risk of fire or electric shock.
16. Protect From Falls and Spills
Object that fall on or liquids that spill onto the unit
may cause damage.
17. Service As Needed
Service by a qualified technician is required when:

3. The unit has been exposed to rain.
4. The unit does not operate normally or exhibits a
marked change in performance.
5. The unit was dropped, or enclosure is damaged.
Do not attempt to service the unit beyond what is
described in the operating instructions. For additional
servicing, call Advent at 800-225-9847.
18. Use Specified Replacement Parts
When replacement parts are required, be sure the
service technician uses only parts specified by the
manufacturer or have the same characteristics of the
original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in
fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
19. Ask For Safety Check
Upon completion of repairs, ask the service
technician to perform safety checks to ensure the
product is in proper operating condition.
System Features
• Two high-quality drivers (polypropylene woofer
and liquid-cooled tweeter) for excellent
performance across all frequencies.
• Shielded drivers for TV/video compatibility.
• A powerful amplifier with discrete output
devices which provide peak power output of 35
Watts per speaker when used on AC 120 volts.

you do not need a receiver or amplifier. Simply
hook Powered Partners up to your portable tape
or disc player, keyboard, video player, TV, or
electric guitar for high-quality stereo sound.
• An automatic on/off circuit which is activated
by a music signal. The speakers will turn off
automatically one minute after the music stops,
allowing you to install Powered Partners in
hard-to-reach places.
• A tri-state power indicator with pilot LED to
indicate the power “on” condition in full
brightness, “stand-by” in half brightness, and
“off” with no brightness.
• AC/DC capability operating from a wide range
DC input from 9V to 25V. A maximum of a 24V
battery may be used for optimal output.
• Treble and bass controls which allow
adjustment of treble and bass to adapt to a
particular listening environment.

• A simple yet versatile method for mounting
speakers on the wall, table, floor, ceiling, etc.
Features of the AV570
AV570 Back Panel
Removing the Grille
Using a sharp, pointed object, pull the exposed side
of the grille slightly outward so it passes the retaining
edges. Several attempts may be necessary, as the
grille is not intended to be easily removed.
To reinstall the grille, line it up with the contour of the
front baffle and gently press it until the outside edges
snap over the retaining ridges.
Installation
1. Before beginning, check the power
requirement for the AC operating voltage
written on the side of the speakers. If
uncertain, contact an Advent dealer.
2. With the power switch in the “off” position,
connect the AC power cord to the special socket
labeled “Power Input” on the back of one of the
speakers.
3. Plug the two-pronged end of the AC power cord
into a household wall outlet. Note that the plug
is polarized and only fits in the outlet one way.
4. Take out the 3.5 mm stereo plug to RCA
connector. The 3.5 mm stereo plug end is the
standard headphone plug, and the RCA
connector is a color-coded (often one red, one
white) two-pronged adaptor.
5. Plug the 3.5 mm stereo plug into the earphone
jack of your music source.
6. Plug an RCA connector into the jack marked
“Signal Input” on each speaker. If necessary,
adapt the distance between the speakers.
When you are facing the speakers, the red plug
should be connected to the right speaker, and
the white connected to the left speaker.
Note: If you wish to place the Powered
Partners far away from each other, a longer
audio signal extension cable can be
purchased at any retail electronics store. If
your television headphone jack is mono (for
use with single earphones), adapters are
available at most retail electronics stores to
convert the single mono signal to twochannel mono so you can use both speakers.
Connecting Without Earphone Jacks
1. To connect the speakers to your home stereo
or video system or sources without earphone
jacks, plug in the power cords as described
above.
2. Connect one end of the RCA to RCA cable
(purchased separately) as described above.
3. Making sure to match the colors, connect the
other the other end of the RCA to RCA cable to
any unused “Tape Out” connections on the back
of your preamp, amplifier or receiver, CD player,
VCR, tuner, tape recorder, guitar preamp,
electronic keyboard, or any line level source.
Note: Your source may use different
terminology such as “Audio Out”, “Direct
Out”, “Line Out”, “Tape Out”, etc.
Caution: Do not connect Powered Partners
AV570 to the speaker outputs of any
electronic device. Speaker outputs generate
amplified high-level signals which can damage
the speakers.

Connecting Speakers Together
(USA and Canada only)
In order to conserve wall outlets, the AV570
speakers can be connected to each other.
1. Plug the AC power cord into the “power
input” outlet on the back of one speaker.
2. Plug the two-pronged end of the AC power cord
into the wall outlet.
3. Plug a second AC power cord into the back of
the first speaker.
4. Connect the other end of the power cord to the
“power input” outlet on the back of the second
speaker.
Note: Do not connect more than two Powered
Partners together in this manner.
Placing the Speakers
The AV570 speakers have been designed to
provide a superior listening experience in a home
environment. The following are some basic
suggestions for achieving the best results from your
new speakers.
• Speakers should be placed near a wall, on a
shelf, or on the floor.
• Orienting the speakers so they directly face
the preferred listening area can have audible
benefits in stereo imaging and depth of
image.
• The amount the speakers are “toed in” for
best performance should be determined by
experimentation. For example, when the
desired listening area is large relative to the
distance from the speakers, the speakers
should be angled in even more so that their
axes cross in front of the listening area.
• The minimum separation between the
loudspeakers is determined by their distance
from the listening position. If they are placed
too close together, the stereophonic stage
will be narrow and restricted. Stage “width”
will broaden as the speakers are moved
apart, but too large a separation will give the
effect of two separate sound sources with no
central images and a poor blend of sound
between the speakers. A good starting point
is to have the separation between the
speakers be the same as the distance from
each speaker to the listening position.
Using the Controls
Power On/Off Switch
This switch is located on the input panel on the back
of the speakers. Pushing the button in the “on”
direction turns the speaker ’s built-in amplifier on. The
green light is illuminated if the speaker is turned on.
Automatic On/Off and Tri-Level LED Indicator
After the power is turned on, the speakers are ready
to receive a music signal. Approximately one minute
after the music stops, the unit will automatically shut
down to a low power consumption mode, and the
LED indicator light will dim to a pale green. This
feature allows you to leave the power on all the time
without concern for consuming too much power.
For extended periods of non-use, push the power
switch to the “off” position, and the LED will turn off.
Volume Control
This control is used to set the maximum volume that
can be achieved for a given input. When using a
personal stereo (or any other device which has its
own volume control) as a sound source, turn the
volume control knob on you speakers to the largest
dot on the dial, then use the volume control on your
sound source to control the actual volume level while
listening.
If the sound source for your Powered Partners does
not have a volume control (for example, a stereo
tuner) then the overall volume level can be controlled
by turning the volume control on each speaker.
Note: Do not turn on the Powered Partners
with the volume control turned fully up.
Treble Control
The treble on the AV570 speakers can be
controlled by turning the treble control clockwise
(toward the treble note depicted on the dial) for more
high-frequency output and counterclockwise to
decrease high frequency output.
Bass Control
AV570 speakers contain a bass boost
equalizer to contour the bass response of your
speaker system. The bass control increases or
decreases the amount of bass boost. For maximum
bass, turn the knob clockwise toward the bass note
depicted on the dial.
Note: For maximum volume without distortion,
turn the bass control all the way down. Placing
the Powered Partners on the floor or in a
corner will greatly increase bass response.
Mounting the Speakers
The Powered Partners AV570 speakers are
equipped with versatile mounting holes that can be
hidden if desired. Simply loosen the die-cast end cap
and flip around the spherical metal mounting cap to
expose the mounting holes.
The spherical metal end cap with mounting holes can
be installed in the top or bottom of the speaker. It is
locked in place by re-tightening the die-cast end cap.
The metal end cap has three holes with 8-32 threads
(1/2 inch deep) and one large center hole with 7/1610 threads (3/4 inch deep). For safety reasons, be
sure that the mounting surface and mounting method
selected can support at least 40 pounds.
