- DO NOT use long tapes such as 120-minute cassettes. The tape utilized is very thin and e asily become entangled in the unit.

INTRODUCTION
General Care:
1. Do not play cassettes with slack tape spools; slack tapes can become entangled around the capstand and/or pinch rollers. If the spool is slack, re-tension using a pencil in one of the spools and “tightening” the tape.
2. Do not play deformed cassettes or cassettes with loose labels. The cassette may become lodg ed ins ide the unit or c ause it to malfunction.
3. Do not store cassettes in hot locations or expo se to direct sunlight.
4. Do not leave cassettes in the unit when not in use; tapes may stick to the tape head and cause a malfunction.

Cleaning the unit:
1. Turn the power “OFF” and wipe the panel with a dry, lint free, silicon cloth.
Note: Use of rough cloth or volatile solvents such as paint thinner or
alcohol may damage the surface of the panel and/or cause damage to the liquid crystal display.
2. The cassette slot in the faceplate should be cleaned periodically as accumulated dust can scrat ch the surface of the cassettes when inserted or removed from the player. A dry cotton swab is recommended for this cleaning. (Clean only the outer , expo sed sur faces.)
3. Magnet ic powder and dust accumulation on the tape head can cause noise and deterioration of sound quality. To clean the tape head, use a commercial cleaning tape designed for this purpose.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
General Information:
Ensure power is available to the tape player; there are no “ON/OFF” controls on the unit. Power is controlled from the cockpit.
Whe n t he u nit p ow er s up , it will s eq ue nce t hr ou g h a s er ies o f dia gno s t ics. Wh en t he dia gnostics a re comple te, the disp lay w ill read ALL OFF .
Power up speakers from the appropriate control panel. Audio will be supplied through headphones or speakers.
To Play a Cassette:
Insert a cassette with the tape exposed to the right, into the cassette slot. Apply a slig ht a mou nt o f pr es su re t o t he o ut e r e dg e o f t he ca ss et t e. T he C TP w ill accept the cassett e and “pull” it into the unit.
Once the tape is ins erted, the disp lay will rea d TAPE. Playback will begin automatically. The unit will reverse direction automatically
when all tracks have been played in sequential order.

Referring to the front view drawing on page 10 of this publication:
1. To Rewind the Tape:
Press and release the button to return to the beginning of the current track and resume play. Press the button one to nine times to rewind t hro ugh mult iple t ra cks . Th e unit will r esu me pla yback whe n the des ired track is reached.
Press the butt on at any time to resume normal play at the current location.
2. To Advance the Tape:
With a cassette inserted in the player, press and release the butto n. Th e unit w ill adva nce to the next track on the cassette a nd resume play. Press the FF button one to nine times to advance through multiple tracks. Th e unit w ill resume pla yback when th e d esired track is reached.
Th e dis play w ill indica te the numbe r of tra cks . Pr ess t he pr og ram bu tt on at any time to resume normal play at the current location.

3. To Reverse the Direction of Play:
While a cassette is playing, press the button. The cassette will reverse direction and begin playing the other side of the tape. The display will indic ate the direction of the ta pe with a left or rig ht arrow.
4. To St op or E ject a Cassette:
While a ca sse tt e is pla ying, pr ess th e but t on . Playb ack will st op , t h e c assette w ill eje ct fr om the unit, a n d the u n it will turn o ff.
Note: Th e c asse tte w ill eje ct approxima tely 1½ inches from the slot. Be sure no obstructions are blocking the slot.
The display will re ad ALL O FF.

OPTIONAL INFRARED REMOTE OPERATI ON
The following functions can be controlled using Audio Internationals optional remote control unit customized for your system configuration. Refer to the o perations manual supplied with the unit to de termine functions available on the unit.
To Sto p or Eject a Cassette:
Pr e ss t h e s t o p / eje c t bu t t on o n th e r e mo t e . P la yba ck w ill st o p an d t h e ca s se t t e will eject.
To Reverse the Direction of Play:
Press and release the program button on the remote. The player will reverse direction to play the other side of the cassette.
To Advance the Tape:
Press and release the fast forward button on the remote to advance to the next tra ck a nd begin play. Ea ch t ime the button is p ressed, the unit will a dvance an additional track (up to nine tracks).

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
No sound can be heard. Bad cassette. Replace cassette. Sound quality is poor or distorted.
Cassette cannot be loaded
Error Messages Unit malfunctioning Contact Audio International, Inc.
Volume too high.
Tape head is dirty
Cassette is deformed
Cassette has been inserted incorrectly.
Turn volu me “down”.
Clean the head referring to section of this publication on cleaning the unit. Replace ca s s ette.
Reload the cassette.
