1. Introduction
Overview
TalkMate™ is an optional module of the PagePac® 20 voice paging system and is designed to fit under the PowerMate™ module. The physical characteristics of PowerMate and TalkMate are listed in Table 1-A.
PagePac 20 is a 20-watt telephone-integrated voice paging system designed for use with most PBX and key telephone systems. PagePac 20 provides voice paging from host system telephones over speakers connected to the PagePac 20.
The basic PagePac 20 paging system consists of a PowerMate module and speakers (Figure 1-1). This system provides one-way paging into a single paging zone. PowerMate provides both voice coil and 70-volt outputs to the system speakers. Both outputs may be used at the same time when connected to the appropriate type of speakers.
TalkMate provides talk-back when added to the system. Talk-back allows individuals in the paging area to respond by using the speakers as microphones. TalkMate contains a voice activated switch that is controlled by the voice of the person making the page. When he/she is silent for approximately one-third of a second, the switch goes into the talk-back mode and the speakers become microphones. The voice of the person making the page will switch the system back to the page mode.
