AC Power Conditioner & Distribution Unit
AP-S15LA
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Atlas Power AP-S15LA AC Power Conditioner & Distribution Unit. The AP-S15LA has been designed to
meet most installation requirements for AC power distribution and equipment power protection.
The AP-S15LA features noise filtering for unwanted Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) that is commonly introduced into AC lines by
nearby radio transmitters or wireless products. EMI filters are incorporated to reduce noise from Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)
from such items as electric motors and switching power supplies. The benefit of these filters can be seen on video products or audibly
by reducing static pops and external signal interference.
The AP-S15LA is unique in that the integrator can select the power cord length that is required for the installation. A removable 12' IEC
power cord with a retainer bracket is supplied with the unit. A shorter or longer cord can be purchased separately if needed.
Unstable AC Mains voltage is one of the main reasons for equipment failure. The amount of energy that can be injected into the power
system can be immense with voltages reaching 6kV or amperage peaks of 3000A. These spikes are very fast and usually only last for a
very short period of time. The AP-S15LA’s circuitry is very fast and can suppress unwanted energy within a nanosecond response and
sustain the suppression up to 2 milliseconds, thus ensuring virtually trouble free protection. The front panel also features AC fault and
ground status indicators providing quick, visual reassurance the equipment is safe.
The AP-S15LA offers power management control, noise filtering, and spike/surge protection, making it the most compact, effective
power management protection system on the market today.

1. Unswitched AC Outlet
The 120VAC outlet is always live when the AP-S15LA power cord is plugged into an AC mains power source. Note: The AC mains
power switch does not affect the Unswitched AC Outlet but it is protected with surge protection circuitry.
2. Power Switch & Cover
To turn the AP-S15LA On or Off, press the switch to the On or Off position. When in the On position and AC voltage is present the
power LED will illuminate. The AP-S15LA incorporates a power switch cover to prevent accidental pressing of the power switch.
3. Switched Outlets Active Indicator
This LED will illuminate Blue when the power switch is in the On position.
4. Surge Protect Indicator
The Surge Protect LED is illuminated under normal operating conditions showing that the surge protection circuit is functioning
correctly and the connected equipment is protected from voltage transients. Although the clamping suppression circuit virtually assures
protection from most transient voltage spikes and surges, nature has a way of occasionally creating electrical forces that are beyond
the capabilities of any device to absorb without some degree of damage. In the rare instance that this occurs and the circuit has been
damaged, the Red “Surge Protect” LED indicator will turn off. The AP-S15LA will shut off permanently until the unit is repaired. Be
advised that activation of this fault condition and the associated repair is not covered under warranty. Note: If the Surge Protect LED is
not illuminated while the unit is powered on, it is important to have all equipment that was connected to that AC Mains Line inspected
for proper operation.
5. Ground Status Indicator
This LED will illuminate Green when the AP-S15LA has Earth ground connection on the Earth ground pin of the AC Mains power
cord. Note: If there is no Earth ground connection the LED will not illuminate and the AC wall outlet must be repaired by a qualified
electrician before continuing.
6. Pull Out Lamp
Pull the lamp out to illuminate equipment mounted below the AP-S15LA. The brightness of the lamp can be adjusted with the dimmer
switch to the left of the lamp.
7. Pull Out Lamp Dimmer
Adjust the intensity of the pull out lamp by turning the dimmer switch.

1. AC Mains Input
Connect the IEC 14 Gauge 12' (4m) power cord to a 15A 120VAC outlet to provide power to the AP-S15LA.
2. AC Mains Input IEC Power Cord Retainer
The AP-S15LA incorporates an IEC power cord retainer bracket to prevent the cord from coming loose. See IEC power cord retainer
bracket installation.
3. AC Mains Power Breaker
The 15A rated breaker will open if the combined draw of all AC outlets exceeds 15A. Note: The breaker is designed to exceed its rating
for a short period of time. If the breaker is tripped, the load must first be removed from the AP-S15LA before pushing to reset.
4. Unswitched AC Outlet
The 120VAC outlet is always live when the AP-S15LA power cord is plugged into an AC mains power source. Note: The AC mains
power switch does not affect the Unswitched AC Outlet but it is protected with surge protection circuitry.
5. Switched AC Outlets
The seven 120VAC outlets are always live when the AP-S15LA front panel power switch is in the On position.

Installation
Before installing, read the entire manual to ensure proper understanding of operation and that all features are being utilized. The
AP-S15LA can be placed on a shelf or rack mounted in a standard 19" width rack. When rack mounted, placement within the rack is
flexible, however the AP-S15LA should be within 6' of a dedicated 15A AC outlet. When rack mounting, use rack rail type screws of
10
⁄32" x 1". Always make sure the 15A outlet is properly inspected by a certified electrician prior to connecting the AP-S15LA. Make sure to
inspect the equipment that will be connected to the AP-S15LA to ensure it does not exceed 15A total amperage draw.
AC Power Cord Retainer System
Connect the IEC 14 Gauge 12' (4m) power cord to a 15A 120VAC outlet to provide power to the AP-S15LA by aligning the pins of the
cord to the pins on the chassis and inserting the cord. Press firmly to assure a good connection.
The AP-S15LA incorporates an IEC Power Cord retainer bracket to prevent the cord from coming loose. To install the IEC power cord
retainer bracket, remove the two screws from the chassis of the AP-S15LA, place the retainer bracket over the cord and insert the two
screws through the bracket into the chassis as illustrated below.
