THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING AN ASTROSTART REMOTE CAR STARTER!
Like you, Astroflex is concerned with the environment.
This is why we suggest using the two minute runtime
when you remote start your vehicle to warm up engine fluids.
We take this opportunity to remind you to properly defrost your windows
and remove all the snow from your vehicle before driving on public roads.
Rolling igloos are extremely dangerous!
We wish you an excellent journey with your remote engine starter!
User guide for 4204 and 5204 remote engine starter
The 4204 and 5204 models are Bi-directional remote engine start systems. This means that they can communicate both ways and therefore return an acknowledgment to the transmitter and/or communicate the status of the vehicle.
The 5204 model includes an integrated security system. As well as remote starting your vehicle, it can inform you when the vehicle is accessed and/or of any intrusions. A second one-way 6 button transmitter is also included only in this kit. See addendum 193-127-107-00 included in the packaging for the operating instructions.
Both models offer a keyless entry feature allowing the user to operate the door locks as well as access to the trunk of the vehicle. These features are optional and may require additional material and/or wiring during installation.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Before using this product, carefully read the following safety precautions.
Immediately report any malfunction to the AstroStart dealer that performed the installation.
Under no circumstance can this product or its use be modified.
Always turn off the main switch when vehicle is parked in an enclosed, unventilated area or is in for
servicing.
Always turn off the main switch when not using your remote starter for extended periods of time.
Keep remote controls away from children.
Have your engine tuned regularly to ensure optimum performance of your remote starter.
Make sure that the windshield wipers and the headlights are turned off before leaving vehicle.
Regularly check safety features that stop engine (see SAFETY CHECKS on page 15.)
Make sure you comply with all local regulations, which may prohibit leaving your engine running
when vehicle is unattended in a public place.
Always advise service personnel that your vehicle is equipped with a remote starter.
We strongly recommend that you have your remote starter checked annually. Contact a dealer in

THE REMOTE CONTROL
Your remote control has been designed to fit the natural contours of your hand so that it is easier to use. Your remote control can transmit on two different channels, allowing control of two separate vehicles. See
below for more details. A maximum of four remote controls can be assigned to your vehicle. See your dealer for additional remote
controls (Two way: 310-052-451-00). NOTE: The range of your remote control can be affected by a weak battery, interference from nearby metal
structures, hydro poles, or crowded parking lots.
USING YOUR REMOTE CONTROL
To send a command, press for two seconds on the appropriate button.
Command may not be sent if the button is not pressed long enough.
The remote control beeps at the beginning of transmission, then eight short beeps at the end of the transmission, i.e. about 2 seconds after the button was pressed. After those short beeps, release the button(s) to allow the remote to receive confirmations from the car.
When used with a 4204, immediately after a command is sent, the remote control switches to receive mode for 5 seconds while waiting for a confirmation signal. The only exception is for the Start command. The remote will always stay in receive mode, waiting for engine shut down feed back from the car.
When used with a 5204, the remote will always standby, ready to receive information from the car, like violation of a protected zone.
Your remote control can transmit on two different channels, allowing control of two separate vehicles equipped with either, 4204 or 5204 system. Only the “Panic” command is transmitted on both channels simultaneously.
Each command being transmitted is confirmed by audible (piezo) and visual (Antenna1, Antenna 2) confirmations. That work in the following manner.
CHANNEL 1 :
To transmit a command on channel 1, press desired button for two seconds.
Remote control shown could differ from that included in the kits.

CHANNEL 2 :
To transmit a command on channel 2, press desired button, then as soon as a beep is heard, release the button for a moment then press it again and hold it down for two seconds.
REPLACING THE BATTERY
The LCD of your remote has a battery icon telling you when to replace the battery. We strongly recommend keeping a replacement battery in your glove compartment.
The remote control needs one AAA battery. See a dealer for spare batteries or any convenience store. To replace the battery, slide the latch sideways and remove the battery cover on the back of the remote control
case, remove old battery and replace it with a new one. Make sure the battery is placed the right way (see pictogram inside the cover).

CONFIRMATIONS
Sent by vehicle
Confirmations sent by the vehicle are generated as soon as a command is received by the starter module. Your remote starter will always confirm that the command has been received, either by sounding the horn, siren or by flashing the parking lights.
Parking light confirmation is mandatory while horn or siren confirmations are optional (programmable) and may require additional connections and equipment during installation.
Emitted by the transmitter
The transmitter emits three kind of confirmations: audible (piezo), visual (LCD display) and physical (vibration); these confirmations are listed further in this guide. After the confirmation signals have been emitted, the transmitter, only if used with the 4204, will change to power saving mode in order to reduce battery consumption. Note that the communication between the vehicle and the transmitter operates only in one-way. This is why it is recommended to wait for the confirmation before sending another command. Otherwise, the vehicle and the transmitter will transmit at the same time and block the requested command as well as the returned confirmation
The following diagram shows the usefulness of each segment of the display. Note that the bold characters are referring to the transmitter used with the 5204 module only.
Display confirmations will be visible for 4 seconds. The confirmations, generated by the vehicle are emitted only once after the control module sends it.
Confirmations emitted by the transmitter can be neutralized by radio interferences or electromagnetic signals emitted by electronic devices nearby.
If you don't receive any confirmation from where you're standing, move away from electronic devices and press the "status" command; the module will inform you of the door lock, alarm (5204 only) and engine status.
Out of range
If the vehicle is out of range, the transmitter will emit a 5 seconds soft chirp to indicate that the command hasn’t been received by neither the module nor the transmitter.
As for the 5204, the transmitter sends a command every hour in order to determine if it is possible to establish a communication with the vehicle. After two communications without answer, the transmitter vibrates twice to inform you that the vehicle is out of range.
When the communication is re-established, the transmitter vibrates to inform you of the vehicle status.
