Description
The DI04-M6 series micropho nes are qua lity performa nce fi eld effect
amplified “power” micro phones for amateur, citizen band, mobile, aircraft,
marine applications. The housing o f the D104-M6B is molded black
ABS with a chrome plated grille screen (pictu red at right). The hou sing
of the DI04-M 6C is molded b lack ABS, the front half is chrome plated
and the grille screen is chrome plated.
An output impedance compatible with the inputs of almost all commercial
transcei vers and e xternally adjustable high gain amplifier ensures de sired
modulation level. The D104-M6 has an ea sily acces sible control for
volume so that the correct modulation level can be set for each oper ators
voice. T he D1 04-M6 preamplifier is pow ered by a readily available,
easily replaced, 9 volt battery. The D 104-M6 has a six wire coil cord
which allows for relay, electronic or virtually any type hookup with almost
any transceiver. The audio line is open during receive.

If the microphon e plug y ou have selected for your hookup requirements
does not have a ca ble clamp suitable for our small diameter high qual ity
microphone c able, use tubing as supplied by ASTATIC. Simply slip
tubing over cable prior to solde ring o f lead wires. Position it to ensure
proper clamping of cable and tubing b y the connector.

Ba tt e r y Replac em e n t
Remove the rear housing b y remo ving the four screws. Carefully lift off
the rear housing. Unsnap the battery from the battery clips loc ated on
the small vertical pc board and install a new battery. Note that the wires
from the coil cord should lay on top of the battery after it is installed.
Carefully replace the rear hous ing ensuring the gain control knob pa sses
thro ugh the hole in the housing and fasten with the four screws previously
removed. Be careful not to overtighten the four scre ws.
Gain Adjus tments
At a speak ing distance of approximately 2 inch es (or the positio n you
prefer) with the gain control in the rear housing turned fully
counterclockwise, adjust the gain control for the correct modulation level.
Turning the gain control clockwi se increases the gain. Once properly
set, the gain control should seldom require reset ting under e quivalent
operating conditions .
