INSTRUCTION SHEET
CAUTION: For proper and safe installation of this product, read the following instructions.

relamping
Note: For Marine installation,

INSTALLATION: When laying out lighting installation, fixtures must be placed at least one fixture length apart (2 feet for APL
Series) if not installed as shown in Fig 2, in order to relamp.
MOUNTING: To facilitate mounting, see Appleton catalog for listing of hardware and accessories for the Appleton explosion-
proof fluorescent lighting fixtures. All hubs are threaded for 3/4" conduit. Supply wire connections are in the
end unilet next to the nameplate.
NOTE: Remove unused conduit plug and reinstall with pipe sealant.
CAUTION: Both ends of fixture must be supported from a structural member.
CAUTION: Installation must be made in accordance with the National Electric Code, Article 500 covering
Hazardous Location Electrical Construction.
WIRING: Fixtures are completely wired at the factory. Supply wire connections are to be made in the end
unilet (top cover) on the nameplate end. Attach power leads to leads furnished by factory, with
approved connectors. Attach ground lead to green ground screw.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO GROUND FIXTURE PROPERLY COULD RESULT IN A SEVERE SHOCK.
REFLECTOR: Installation and cleaning: slip rubber gasket over reflector before sliding reflector into support channels. Secure
reflectors at center of fixture with clip and screw furnished in plastic bag. Make sure clip is in slots before tightening screw. For cleaning, remove the clip and screw and slide reflector out. Wash with soap and water and
replace.
RELAMPING INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOUR FOOT LAMPS:
1. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of ignition of hazardous atmospheres
disconnect the fixture from supply circuit before opening.
2. Unscrew cover (1) and loosen screw (2) Do Not Remove.
3. Turn socket/bracket (3) counter clockwise and pull out of fixture.
4. Pull socket from lamp (4), remove lamp from fixture.
5. Replace lamp with lamp of proper wattage and size.
6. Insure electrodes are vertical before engaging socket at far end.
7. Reassemble by following steps 2 thru 4 in reverse order.
RELAMPING INSTRUCTIONS FOR TWO FOOT BIAX LAMPS
1. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of ignition of hazardous atmospheres
disconnect the fixture from supply circuit before opening.
2. Unscrew cover (1) and loosen screw (2), Do Not Remove.
3. Turn socket/bracket (3) counter clockwise and pull out of fixture
just enough to remove the lamp retainer (4).
4. Pull socket from lamp (5), remove lamp from fixture, save lamp
spacer (6) for use on replacement lamp.
5. Replace lamp with 40 watt biax lamp or equal.
6. Reassemble by following steps 1 thru 4 in reverse order.
