Setting a Static / Manual IP for your Smart Access Point
If your network uses Static IP settings, you will need to set a static IP address for your Smart Access Point. To do this, access the More Settings > IP Settings menu from the navigation menu and select Disabled from the DHCP drop down menu. Next enter the IP information as it relates to your network. Click Apply and reboot when you are done.
Using Power over Ethernet (Optional)
Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) allows you to use the Smart Access Point without a power adapter. The power for the Smart Access Point is provided through the Ethernet cable (PoE Ethernet cable required) that is connected to another PoE device (such as an AP300).
To use PoE, simply attach a PoE-ready cable to the Smart Access Point from a PoE ready device such as another Smart Access Point AP300, as shown below:
Additional Access Points
Power Adapters NOT Required
PoE Ethernet Cable
(sold separately)
Non-PoE Cable
Four (4) wires.

Tips on using Power over Ethernet with the Smart Access Point
a. Pre-configure the Smart Access Point before Setup:
Configure the wireless network names (SSID), security settings and channel numbers for each Smart Access Point before beginning your physical installation. This will make it easy to identify each wireless network as it is installed. Do not use the same name for each Smart Access Point as this will cause
confusion within the network.
b. Proper Network Port Connections Attach the PoE cable from the Wired Devices Port of the first Smart Access Point (using a power adapter) to the Network Port of the second Smart Access Point (using only PoE and no power adapter).
c. Allow the Smart Access Point time to Register with your Network: After attaching the second Smart Access Point, wait 2 minutes for the second Smart Access Point (using PoE) to auto-configure itself to the network. You will know when registration is complete when the wireless network name of the second Smart Access Point appears in a SSID scan from a computer.
d. Repeat if Needed:
Repeat the steps above if you have additional Smart Access Points that you wish to daisy chain using PoE.
Troubleshooting Tips
Problem: I entered http://setup.ampedwireless.com and it failed to open the Web Menu
a. Make sure your computer is connected to the Smart Access Point wirelessly and NOT using a network cable. Ensure the power is plugged in and on. Try to access the setup menu again. b. Enter the following web address into your web browser instead of ‘setup.ampedwireless.com’: http://192.168.1.240 c. Power off (unplug the power adapter) the Smart Access Point and power it back on. Try again. d. Reset your Smart Access Point to default settings by holding the Reset Button (located on the back panel) for ten (10) seconds and try again.
Problem: I do not have Internet access when connecting to the Smart Access Point
a. Your router or original network may not have Internet access. First check to see if you are able to access the Internet by connecting directly with your router. If you cannot, there is a problem with your router that needs to be fixed first. If you are able to access the internet, continue with the following troubleshooting options below. b. Your router may be using Static IP assignments. If so, you will need to configure a Static IP for the Smart Access Point. Connect your PC to the Smart Access Point using an Ethernet cable. Disconnect your PC from any wireless networks that it may be connected to. Access the web menu at setup.ampedwireless.com using a web browser. Access the IP settings menu from the left hand navigation bar. Select ‘Disabled’ under the DHCP dropdown menu and enter an IP address that matches your router’s IP settings.
