Auger Inspection

(inspection of Countryside augers )
• Verify auger free of gouges, nicks, scratches and dents fix if possible.
• Verify auger free of rust and excess oil, if necessary use wire brush to clean and then wipe auger down
with paint thinner to remove all oil. Then lightly oil.
• Verify auger
flighting pitch
dimension from
right to left can not
decrease. It may
increase within
tolerance
progressively but
not decrease.
• Verify all burrs and sharp edges have been removed.
• Inspect all welds they must be neat, smooth and good penetration from flighting to shaft.
• Using bench grinder
remove a 1/16”
from both ends
approx. 2” in as
shown.
• Verify outside diameter of flighting is uniform and fit
correctly in auger tube as shown. Using a flashlight
position behind auger and spin the auger making sure
flighting is uniform.
