Architects' And Engineers'

Specifications

The power supply/amplifier shall be Alpha
Communications® / S.T.R.™ model VCU6, or
approved equal. Amplifier shall operate from a
16VAC (40VA) AND a 12VAC (20VA) U.L. Listed
transformer (T1640 and T1240 respectively). All
wiring to power supply/amplifier shall be low­voltage Class II wiring, installed as per all
federal, state, and local elec trical c odes. Power
supply/amplifier shall surfac e mount right to t he
finished wall and shall be installed in a
suitable environment that is free from excessive
dirt, dust, temperature, humidity, grease and
water. Power supply/amplifier shall provide the
intercom amplification and signaling power for
proper system operation. For most sec ure
installation, power supply should be installed into
a lockable equipment c abinet/housing.

Contract or shall observe all local and national
elect rical and building codes.

VCU6 Video-Intercom Amplifier/Power Supply

The Alpha Communicat ions® / S .T.R.™ VCU6 amplifier/power supplies are used with
the S.T.R.™ video-intercom syst ems, to provide intercom amplification, power to
operate t he elec tric door opener(s) etc ., and power to operate the video monitor
units.

The VCU6 units each require a 16VAC (40VA) and 12VAC (20VA) low-voltage Class II
transformer for power. Use our model T 1640 (16VAC) plug-in transformer and our
model T1240 (12VAC) plug-in transformer for eac h VCU6.

These VCU6 amplifier/power supplies are designed to easily surface mount right onto
the finished wall by means of c ustomer supplied sc rews or t he c onvenient plastic 'Din
Rail' brac ket supplied with eac h power supply. Connect ions are positive sc rew
terminal type.

The VCU6 is used for each 30 (or less) video-intercom monitor/handset stations on a
system.
