WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons when using your stacked washer and dryer, follow these basic precautions.
W287
1. Read all instructions before using the unit.
2. Refer to the EARTHING INSTRUCTIONS in the INSTALLATION manual for the proper earthing of the unit.
3. Do not wash or dry articles that have been previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances as they give off vapors that could ignite or explode.
4. Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for two weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a period, before using a washing machine or combination washer-dryer, turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow from each for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. The gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time.
IMPORTANT: The word “IMPORTANT” is used to inform the reader of specific procedures where minor machine damage will occur if the procedure is not followed.
NOTE: The word “NO TE” is used to communicate installation, operation, maintenance or servicing information that is important but not hazard related.

5. Do not allow children to play on or in the unit. Close supervision of children is necessary when the unit is used near children. This is a safety rule for all appliances.
6. Before the unit is removed from service or discarded, remove the doors to the washing and drying compartments.
7. Do not reach into the washer or dryer if the cylinders are revolving.
8. Do not install or store the unit where it will be exposed to water and/or weather.
7
Safety Information
9. Do not tamper with the controls.
10. Do not repair or replace any part of the unit, or attempt any servicing unless specifically recommended in the User-Maintenance instructions or in published user-repair instructions that you understand and have the skills to carry out.
11. Do not add gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable or explosive substances to the wash water . Th ese substances gi ve of f v apors that could ignite or explode.
12. Do not use fabric softeners or products to eliminate static unless recommended by the manufacturer of the fabric softener or product.
13. T o reduce the risk of an electric shock or fire, DO NOT use an adapter to connect the unit to the electrical power source.
14. To reduce the risk of fire, DO NOT DRY plastics or articles containing foam rubber or similarly textured rubberlike materials.
15. ALWAYS clean the lint filter after every load. A layer of lint in the filter reduces drying eff icienc y and prolongs drying time.
16. Keep area around the exhaust opening and adjacent surrounding area free from the accumulation of lint, dust and dirt.
17. The interior of the dryer and the exhaust duct should be cleaned periodically by qualified service personnel.
18. Washer and dryer will not operate with the loading door open. DO NOT bypass the door safety switches by permitting the washer or dryer to operate with the doors open. The washer and dryer will stop tumbling when the doors are opened. Do not use the washer or dryer if they do not stop tumbling when the doors are opened or start tumbling without pressing the START mechanisms. Remove the unit from use and call the service person.
19. Do not put articles soiled with vegetable or cooking oil in the washer or dryer . Due to the oil, the fabric may catch on fire by itself.
20. To reduce the risk of fire, DO NOT put clothes which have traces of any flammable substances such as machine oil, flammable chemicals, thinner, etc., or anything containing wax or chemicals such as in mops and cleaning cloths, or anything dry-cleaned at home with a drycleaning solvent in the dryer.
21. Use your washer only for its intended purpose, washing clothes.
22. Use the dryer only for its intended purpose, drying clothes.
23. Always disconnect the electrical power to the washer and dryer before attempting service to either unit. Disconnect the power cords by grasping the plug, not the cord.
24. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent.
25. Install this unit according to the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. All connections for electrical power and earthing must comply with local codes and be made by licensed personnel when required. Do not do it yourself unless you know how!
26. Keep your unit in good condition. Bumping or dropping the unit can damage safety features. If this occurs, have your unit checked by a qualified service person.
27. Remove laundry immediately after the dryer stops.
28. Always read and follow manufacturer’s instructions on packages of laundry and cleaning aids. Heed all warnings or precautions. T o reduce the risk of poisoning or chemical burns, keep them out of reach of children at all times (preferably in a locked cabinet).
29. Do not tumble fiberglass curtains and draperies unless the label says it can be done. If they are dried, wipe out the cylinder with a damp cloth to remove particles of fiberglass.
30. Be sure water connections have a shut-off valve and that fill hose connections are tight. CLOSE the shut-off valves at the end of each wash day.

Installation
Installing the Unit
Step 1: Position Unit Near Installation Area
NOTE: If the unit is delivered on a cold day (below freezing), or is stored in an unheated room or area during the cold months, do not attempt to operate it until the washer has had a chance to warm up.
Move unit so that it is within 1.2 meters (4 feet) of the desired area of installation.
CAUTION
Washer and dryer are not designed to be operated as separated, side-by-side units.
W187
NOTE: For best performance and to minimize vibration or movement, install unit on a solid, sturdy and level floor. Some floors may need to be reinforced, especially on a second floor or over a basement. DO NOT install the unit on carpeting, soft tile, pedestal, a platform or other weakly supported structures.
Step 2: Connect Water Fill Hoses
NOTE: Refer to section on Water Supply Requirements before connecting water fill hoses.
The appliance is to be connected to the water mains using new hose-sets and old hose-sets should not be reused.
Turn on the w ater supply faucets and flush the lines for approximately two minutes to remove any foreign materials that could clog the screens in the water mixing valve.
NOTE: When installing in newly constructed or renovated building, it i s very important to flush the lines since build-up may have occurred during construction.
Remove the two f ilter screens and the two plain rubber washers from the accessories bag.
Insert each filter screen into the end of each fill hose that will connect to the water supply faucet. The screen must be facing outward. Refer to Figure 4.
Insert each plain rubber washer into the other end of each fill hose that will connect to the water mixing valve at the rear of the washer. Refer to Figure 4.
Figure 3
Connect fill hoses to water supply faucets. Then connect the hoses to the hot and cold valve connections at the rear of the washer. For hoses with metric couplings, connect black hose coupling to water supply faucet. Connect brass hose coupling to water mixing valve connection at rear of washer.
IMPORTANT: Thread hose couplings onto valve connections finger-tight, then approximately 1/4 turn with pliers. DO NOT cross thread or overtighten couplings.
Turn water on and check for leaks. If leaks are found, retighten the hose couplings. Continue tightening and rechecking until no leaks are found.
