GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire,
electric shock and injury to person, including the following:

1. Read all instructions before installing soffit.
2. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you have
questions, contact the manufacturer.

BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION.
SECTION 1
Preparing for installation
NOTE: Before installing soffit, make sure the range hood canopy along with all
ductwork has been connected and is properly installed and securely in place.
See “Range Hood Mounting Instructions”.
1. Unpack soffit from the carton and confirm that all pieces are present. In
addition to the soffit you should have:
NOTE: Some soffits may be shipped with a protective plastic adhered to the
soffit and/or brackets. It is recommended to leave this in place during installation
to protect from scratching. Remove before final installation of soffit.
2. Determine the type of installation you require. If the soffit will be mounted
without any cabinetry on either side, proceed to Section 2

3. Installation work must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with
all applicable codes and standards, including fire-related construction.
4. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring
and other hidden utilities.
5. Refer to the instructions included with the Range Hood Canopy for additional
safety information.

SECTION 2
Installation Without Cabinets
NOTE: If multiple soffits are required for your installation, they must be connected
together, before being installed to the hood and wall.
1. Determine the location for the soffit brackets (Figure 2).
For 20" high soffits: 19.25" from the top of the hood canopy to the
center of the bracket.
For 10" high soffits: 9.25" from the top of the hood canopy to the center
of the bracket.

2. Mark the location for the wall anchors that will hold the bracket onto the
wall. D
rill holes (2 for each bracket) into the wall and install the included
wall anchors into holes. Secure the brackets into place
screws (Figure 3).

3. Place the soffit in place on top of the hood canopy and line up the holes
in the hood canopy with the screw studs of the soffit.
4. From inside the hood, using the included fasteners, secure the soffit to the
hood. Do not fully tighten the fasteners at this point (Figure 4).

3. Confirm that the soffit is seated in place securely and is flush against the
back wall. From inside the side cabinets, drill a small pilot hole in the upper
corner of the cabinet towards the rear of the cabinet through the cabinet
side and soffit. Install a sheet metal screw (not included) through the
cabinet and soffit. DO NOT over tighten the screw. This will prevent the
soffit from shifting or possibly coming loose and vibrating (Figure 6).

SECTION 4
Finishing the Installation
1. Refer to the hood instruction manual to complete the installation, for
maintenance, and before restoring power.
2. The soffit is covered under the range hood’s warranty.

5. Line up the side holes of the soffit with the screw studs of the brackets and
using the included fasteners, secure the soffit to the brackets (Figure 4).
6. Fully tighten all fasteners and make sure the soffit is firmly in place.

Installation With Cabinets
NOTE: If multiple soffits are required for your installation, they must be connected
together, before being installed to the hood and wall.
NOTE: Any protective plastic adhered to the soffit should be remove before
installation of soffit between cabinets.

Place the soffit in place on top of the hood canopy and line up the holes
in the hood canopy with the screw studs of the soffit.
2. From inside the hood, using the included fasteners, secure the soffit to the
hood and fully tighten the fasteners (Figure 5).
