GF 2-WIRE MULTI-UNIT ENTRY SYSTEM
TECHNICAL INFORMATION FOR INSTALLATION & TROUBLESHOOTING
Installation Hint:
Since each phone must be programmed individually via the process described
below, it is suggested that the system be wired up on a bench and programmed
before being installed in a building. In this way, one person can program the
entire system, and all functions can be tested for proper operation before being
installed. Otherwise, two people will be required to program the system.
Programming the Room Stations on the GF System:
1. Remove front panel.
2. Lift rubber cap located on the right side of the speaker module.
3. Using wrench provided or a small screwdriver, momentarily press the
programming button.
4. In-Use LED will begin blinking – will blink for approximately 15 seconds, then
will become steadily lit.
5. After In-USE LED is steadily lit, lift the first handset to be programmed. (Only
one handset can be programmed at a time.) Communication will be present.
6. Momentarily press the station button (in the GF-SW) that is designated to call
that location (handset). A single beep will be heard.
7. Hang up handset.
8. If the apartment has a second station:
1. Lift that handset.
2. Press the same call button on the entrance panel. Two Beeps will be heard
3. Hang up handset
9. Repeat steps 5 through 8 for each handset.
10. When programming is completed, press programming switch again. In-Use
LED will turn off.
11. The system is now in regular operating mode.
12. Secure rubber cap and replace front panel.
Setting the Entrance Station Number:
1. The default setting of the GF-DA is for entrance station #1. If multiple
entrance panels are included, they must be set as #2,3,4, or 5.
2. Entrance panels must be programmed independently. Follow steps above to
program each entrance panel.
3. Stations on different entrance panels may be programmed as different
buttons. Lay out the system in advance and determine which buttons on each
entrance station will call each apartment.
Programming Logic:
1. Memory is stored in a “Button # on a Module #” configuration. For example, a
handset that is programmed as number 8 is stored as “Button #4 on Switch
module #2”.
2. The GF-SW switch module holds no memory and can be swapped at
anytime.
3. The GF-DA holds the memory for all of the stations programmed on the
system. If it is replaced, the entire system must be re-programmed.
4. The GF-1D remembers its own ID number only. Each handset must be
programmed individually to its appropriate button.
Programming Notes/Troubleshooting:
1. Only the handset being programmed can be off hook. If more than one
handset is off-hook while attempting to program, the last handset in series will
be programmed for the station button pressed. The single or double beep is
still heard at the entrance panel. (In other words – there is no indication for
the programmer that more than one handset is off-hook. The problem will be
discovered when the programming for the station intended to be programmed
isn’t correct.)
2. If two handsets are already programmed on a single button and an attempt is
made at adding a third, five beeps will be heard at the entrance panel. The
original two handsets will remain programmed, but the third will be
inoperative. Reprogram on its own station button.
3. If an inappropriate beep is heard, press and hold call button until a continuos
beep is heard. This will clear all programming on that button. Reprogram
phone(s) as required.
4. Each GF-1D in the system must be programmed to its designated call button.
A single GF-1D cannot be used to program an entire entrance panel.
5. General memory is stored in the GF-DA. If it is ever replaced, all handsets in
the system must be re-programmed.
6. The button modules store no memory and can be swapped at anytime.
7. System memory is non-volatile and does not require reprogramming in the
event of a power failure.
8. GF-DA comes from the factory set as entrance station #1. The installer must
change the dip switch settings for entrances 2~5.
9. Entrance panels must be programmed independently.
10. Handset stations on different entrance panels may be programmed on
different call buttons. (They don’t have to be in the same position on each
panel. For example, if Entrance #1 calls all of the apartments, and Entrance
#2 calls half of them, the handsets can be programmed on the appropriate
buttons, even if it’s not the same as Entrance #1.)
