Before using the appliance, please read the
following instructions carefully and keep this
manual for future reference. The appliance
must only be used by persons familiar with
these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
The appliance should only be connected to
an earthed socket installed in accordance
with the regulations. Make sure that the
supply voltage corresponds with the voltage
marked on the rating label. This product
complies with all binding CE labelling
directives.

Use only pure water when

from boiling water being
forced out.

of scalding from hot steam
being emitted. Therefore, do
not touch any parts of the
appliance except the handle

during use.
∙ Caution! During the boiling
process and when pouring
out hot water, the lid must
be kept closed at all times.
∙ The kettle may only be
operated with the base
provided with the appliance.
∙ Never remove the water
container from the base
(or replace it) while the
appliance is switched on.
∙ The electrical connections in
the base must be protected
at all times against possible
contact with water.
∙ Caution: Any misuse of the
appliance can cause severe
personal injury.
∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials
well away from children – such materials
are a potential source of danger, e.g. of
suffocation.
∙ Every time the appliance is used, the
main body including the power cord as
well as any attachment fi tted should
be checked thoroughly for any defects.
Should the appliance, for instance, have
been dropped onto a hard surface, or if
excessive force has been used to pull the
power cord, it must no longer be used:
even invisible damage may have adverse
effects on the operational safety of the
appliance.
∙ The appliance must be used only on a
heat-resistant, level surface.
∙ Do not operate the appliance below a
hanging cupboard or similar object; there
is a risk that escaping steam may be
trapped underneath.
∙ Do not allow the appliance or its power
cord to come into contact with open
fl ames or any hot surfaces such as hotplates.
∙ Do not let the power cord hang free, and
keep the cord well away from hot parts of
the housing.
∙ Always remove the plug from the wall
socket,
- in case of any malfunction,
- after use,
- during cleaning.
∙ No responsibility is accepted if damage
results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
Thermal safety cut-out
The pre-set thermal safety cut-out protects
the heating element from overheating should
the appliance be erroneously switched on
without any water, or if the heating plate
is calcifi ed. Once the safety cut-out has
switched off the kettle, it must be allowed to
cool down suffi ciently, or must be descaled
before it is switched on again.
Before using for the fi rst time
To clean the kettle, boil and discard the fi rst
fi lling of water.
Boiling water
∙ Remove the water container from its base.
∙ Press the lid-opener on the handle to

open the lid, and fi ll the container with
water to the desired level, observing the
Min (0.5 l) and Max (1.7 l) markings.
∙ Close the lid and place the container back
on its base.
∙ Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket
and press the On/Off switch; the indicator
light comes on.
∙ The boiling process begins. After
reaching the boiling point, the appliance is
automatically switched off by the integral
steam cut-off device; the indicator light
goes out.
∙ To interrupt the boiling process, set the
On/Off switch to its Off position.
∙ To pour hot water, remove the container
from its base.
∙ To prevent hot steam from being emitted,
ensure that the lid remains closed while
pouring out the water.
∙ Remove the plug from the wall outlet after
use (the red indicator light goes out).
∙ Do not leave any residual water in the
container.
Power cord wind-up storage
The wind-up power cord storage under the
base facilitates limiting the length of the
power cord during use and makes it easy to
store the appliance.
Descaling
∙ Depending on the water quality in your
area, lime deposits may build up on the
heating element (sometimes it looks
like rust). It is advisable to remove
any such deposits at regular intervals.
∙ Any warranty claim will be null and
void if the appliance malfunctions
because of insuffi cient descaling.
∙ A mixture of 0.5 litres of water and 40 ml
of vinegar essence is suitable.

∙ Pour the descaler in.
∙ Switch the appliance on and let the
solution reach boiling point.
∙ Leave it to take effect for a short period.
∙ To clean the container after descaling,
rinse thoroughly with clean water.
∙ During descaling, ensure suffi cient
ventilation and do not inhale any vinegar
vapours.
∙ Do not pour descalers down enamel-
coated sinks.
Sieve
If necessary, the strainer can be removed
from the spout for cleaning. Re-insert the
strainer afterwards.
Cleaning and care
∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is
disconnected from the power supply and
has cooled down completely.
∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the kettle and the base with water
and do not immerse them in water. Do not
clean under running water.
∙ For cleaning, a slightly damp, lint-free
cloth may be used.
∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions, and do not use hard brushes
for cleaning.
Disposal
Devices marked with this symbol

from your household waste, as
they contain valuable materials
which can be recycled. Proper disposal
protects the environment and human health.
