Putting into use
Beforeusing for thefirsttime
1. Removethe packaging.Thentake the lid off the deep
fat
fr y e r.In the deep fat fryer you willfind a frying
basket.Take
all objects out of the
fr y e r
.

2. It is highly recommended to clean the lid, casing,
container and frying basket as describedin
Cleaning
.
3. Please pull the connecting cable out of the cable
compartment.
Electrical
connection
•
Makesure that the iron voltage (see name plate) and
the line voltage match.
•
Themains plug should only be inserted into a cor-
rectly installed 230V~ 50 Hzsocket with earthing
contact.
ConnectedWattage
Thetotal power consumption of this devicecan be up
to 2000W.Withthis connected load a separate supply
lineprotected by a 10Ahousehold circuit breaker is
recommended.
CAUTION: OVERLOAD:
•
If you use extension leads, these should have a
cable cross-section of at least 1.5
mm2.
•
Donot use any multiple sockets,as this device is
too powerful.
Useful
hints for use
1.
Always
remove the food remaining in the oil(e.g.
piecesof
French
fries).Afterthe device has been used
several times you should change the oil.
Usehigh quality fryingoil or fryinggrease.
2. Fatsand oils must be heatable to high temperatures.
Donot use margarine, oliveoil or butter: they are not
fitfor frying,because they start to smokealreadyat
low temperatures.
Werecommend the use of liquid frying oil.
WARNING:
Pleasenote this importantinformationif you
intendto use fat!
If you use fat, please divideit up into smallpieces.
T
urn the thermostat to a low temperature and add
the pieces
slowly.
Oncethe fat has melted and the
correct oil levelis reached you can set the desired
temperature on the thermostat.
Underno circumstancesshould you place the fat
in the deep fryingbasket!
3. In order to reduce the acrylamide content of food
containing starch (potatoes, cereals)the temperature
during deep-fat frying should not exceed 170°C(or
possibly175°
C).
Furthermore, the frying time should
be kept as short as possibleand the food only fried
until it turns golden
yellow.
4. Please note that the safety switch (7)is operated
when the control element is inserted into the guide
mechanism.
5. Choose the right frying temperature and check the
conditions of the food to be fried.Arule of thumb
is
that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature
than raw foods.
6.
Donot carryor movethe deep fryer if the oilor grease is
stillhot.
7. Whenfrying dough-like foods scrape off the excess
dough and put the piecescarefullyinto the oil.
8. Please ensure that the handle of the deep fat frying
basket has been correctly attached.
•
Pressthe ends of the wire together at the free
end of the handle.
•
Insert the brackets into wire hoops insidethe
basket.
9. Thedeep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3
full.Do not overfillthe fryingbasket.
10. Rub dry humid foods with a cloth before frying.
CAUTION:
In the case of foodstuffs which are too moist (e.g.
frozen chips etc.) large amounts of foam may form,
whichunder certain circumstances may cause
the
oil
to
overf low.
Use
1. Makesure that the appliance is unplugged and
switched off
(The
control lamps are
off.).
2.Take
the lid off the deep
fryer
.
3. Removethe frying basket and fillthe container with
oil or grease (maximum3
l).
Thefillinglevelmust be
located between the minimumand the maximum
level.
4. Insert the plug into a 230V,50 Hzpower socket.The
red control lamp lights up. Set the desiredtempera-
ture by turning the temperature control (2).
5. Thegreen control lamp lights up. Once the set tem-
perature has been reached the green control lamp
goes off.Placethe frying basket containing the items
to be fried carefullyinto the hot fat.
6. Thegreen control lamp switcheson and off several
times during frying.
This
is normal and it
indicates
that
the temperature is controlled by the thermostat
and is being maintained. Oncethe frying time is over
(the frying times are to be found on the packaging of
the food or in the recipe),please take out the frying
basket.
7. Letthe oil drip from the food being fried.
8. In order to switch off the machine, please turn the
temperature regulator to
OFF
and removethe plug
from the
socket.Wind
the mains lead up in the form
of a spiralin the cable compartment.
WARNING:
Always
pull out the plug from the mains socket before
cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down.
CAUTION:
•
Donot use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
•
Donot use any acidic or abrasivedetergents.
•
Underno circumstances should the device be
immersedin water for cleaning.
Deepfryingfat container
•
In order to change the oil,pull out the deep frying
fat container and pour the oilout at the side.
•
Cleanthe deep frying fat co n ta in e r,the lid and the
housing with a damp clothand household detergent
if
necessary.Pleasedo not immersein water
.
•
Thedeep frying basket can be cleaned in the usual
way in soapy water
.
Housing
Cleanthe housing after use with a slightlydamp cloth.
Changingthe
Odour
and FatVapour
Filter
Thefilter in the lid can be replaced.
•
Unlatch the filter from
the insideof the lidby
pressingin the catches.

ou can use tongs if
necessary

Removethe inner
cover
.
•
Replacethefilter
.
•
Thenreassemblethe
co v e r.Pleasenote the position
of the holes. Theholes of the inner cover must be
positioned accurately over those of the filter
cover
.
NOTE:
Whenthese filters have been used up it is possibleto
cut universalfilters to size,e.g. from cookerhoods.
Troubleshooting
Device is not working

roubleshooting:
•
Checkthe mains connection.
•
Checkthe position of the thermostat.
Otherpossible causes:
Thedeviceis fitted with a safety switch (7).
This
prevents the heater being switched on
accidentally
.
Checkthat the control element is correctly in place.
OverheatingProtection
•
If you should accidentally switch on your deep fat
fryer when there is no oil or fat in it the overheating
protection is automatically turned on. Theappliance
is no longer ready to be used. Unplugthe deep
fryer
.
•
Onlyafter the devicehas been left to cool down
completelyshould the
„RESTART“
button (8) on the
rear of the control element be operated in ordertouse
the deep fat fryer again. For this you should use a
plastic or wooden object that is the least 4 cm long.
