1 Important Safety Instructions
The safety aspects of our refrigerators comply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law. Nevertheless, we consider it our obligation to make you aware of the following safety information:
Intended use
• The refrigerator is designed for domestic use. It is suitable for cooling bottles of wine. If the appliance is used for purposes for which it is not intended or operated incorrectly, the manufacturer can accept no liability for any damage.
• Alterations or changes to the refrigerator are not permitted for reasons of safety.
• If the cooler should be used commercially or for other purposes than cooling bottles of wine, please follow legal regulations applicable in your area.
Prior to initial start–up
• Check the refrigerator for transport damage. Under no circumstance should a damaged appliance be plugged in! In the event of damage, please contact your retailer.
• Make sure that the power plug is not squashed or damaged by the back of the appliance. A damaged power plug may overheat and cause a fire.
• If the power plug socket is loose, do not insert the power plug. There is a risk of electric shock or fire.
Refrigerant
The refrigerant isobutane (R600a) is contained within the refrigerant circuit of the appliance, a natural gas with a high level of environmental compatibility, which is nevertheless flammable.
Warning - During transportation and installation of the appliance, be certain that none of the components of the refrigerant circuit become damaged.
• If the refrigerant circuit should become damaged: – avoid open flames and sources of ignition; – thoroughly ventilate the room in which the appliance is situated.
Safety of children
• Packaging (e.g. wraps, polystyrene) can be dangerous for children. There is a risk of suffocation! Keep packaging material away from children!
818 36 92-01/4 5
Important Safety Instructions
• Please make old appliances unusable prior to disposal. Pull out the mains plug, cut off the mains cable, break or remove spring or bolt catches, if fitted. By doing this you ensure that children cannot lock themselves in the fridge when playing (there is risk of suffocation!) or get themselves into other dangerous situations.
• Often children cannot recognise the hazards present in household appliances. It is therefore important that you ensure adequate supervision and never let children play with the appliance! Inform children of the possible dangers and instruct them in the correct use of the appliance.
Daily Operation
• Containers with flammable gases or liquids can leak at low temperatures. There is a risk of an explosion! Do not store any containers with flammable materials such as, for example, spray cans, fire extinguisher refill cartridges etc in the refrigerator.
Warning - Do not operate any electrical appliances in the refrigerator (e.g. electric ice cream makers, mixers etc.) unless they have been authorised by the manufacturer.
Warning - In order not to impair the function of the appliance, never cover or obstruct the ventilation openings.
Warning - Do not use any mechanical devices or other artificial means to speed up defrosting unless they are recommended by the manufacturer.
• Before cleaning the appliance, always switch off the appliance and unplug it, or pull the house fuse or switch off the circuit breaker.
• Do not remove the power cord by pulling on its lead, particularly when the appliance is being pulled out of its niche. Damage to the cord may cause a short circuit, fire and/or electric shock.
• Do not place heavy articles or the appliance itself on the power cord. There is a risk of a short circuit and fire.
• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a certified service agent or qualified personnel.
In case of malfunction
• If the a malfunction occurs on the appliance, please look first in the "What to do if ..." section of these instructions. If the information given there does not help, please do not perform any further repairs yourself.
• Refrigerators may only be repaired by qualified service engineers. Improper repairs can give rise to significant hazards. If your appliance needs repairing, please contact your local AEG Service Force Centre.

Appliance Transport
Two people are required to transport the appliance. Two handles are provided on the back of the appliance at the top to enable a better hold. Before transporting, the plinth cover must be removed to prevent damage.
0 1. Open the door. To remove the
plinth cover from the stops, tilt downwards slightly and then pull forwards.
2. Grip the appliance with the recessed handles positioned as in the drawing, and transport the appliance.
3. In order to push the appliance into its final position, press carefully at the top of the door and tip the appliance back slightly. The weight is thus transferred to the back wheels and the appliance can be easily pushed.
4. When the appliance is standing in the desired place, attach the plinth cover.
Before Use
Packaging
0 1. Remove all adhesive tape and packaging from the interior of the appli-
ance.

8 818 36 92-01/4
3. Wash the inside of the appliance with lukewarm water with a little bicarbonate of soda added (5 ml to 0.5 litre of water). Do not use soap or detergent as the smell may linger. Dry the appliance thoroughly.
Installation
Installation Location
The appliance should be installed in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperature. The appliance should therefore – not be exposed to direct sunlight; – not be installed next to radiators, cookers or other sources of heat; – only be installed at a location whose ambient temperature
corresponds to the climate classification, for which the appliance is
designed. The climate classification can be found on the rating plate, which is located at the left on the inside of the appliance. The following table shows which ambient temperature is correct for each climate classification:
Climate classification for an ambient temperature of
SN +10 to +32 °C
N +16 to +32 °C
ST +18 to +38 °C
T +18 to +43 °C
If installation next to a source of heat is unavoidable, the following minimum clearances must be maintained at the sides of the appliance: – for electric cookers 3 cm; – for oil and coal fired ranges 30 cm. If these clearances cannot be maintained a heat insulating pad is required between the cooker and the refrigeration appliance.
818 36 92-01/4 9
Installation
The Refrigerator needs Ventilation
Air is fed under the door through the vent slots in the base and is exhausted upwards along the back wall. To ensure proper air circulation never cover or alter the vent openings.
Important! If the appliance is installed under a hanging cabinet, a clearance of at least 10 cm between the top of the appliance and the cabinet above it must be maintained.
Please check whether, after installing your appliance and especially after rehingeing the door, the door seal seals right round. An untight door seal may lead to heavy frosting and a higher power consumption (see also "Something not working“).
Appliance Alignment
0 1. The appliance level please compensate for unevenness in the floor by
turning the two adjustable feet at the front.
Electrical Connection
A properly installed socket outlet with earthing contact is required for electrical connection. Electrical fuse protection must be of at least 10 ampere. If the outlet socket is no longer accessible after installation of the appliance, appropriate measures must be taken during electrical installation to assure that the appliance can be disconnected from the mains (e.g. fuse, circuit breaker, non-operate current safety-switch or the like, with a contact opening of at least 3 mm).
0 1. Before initial start-up, refer to the appliance rating plate to ascertain if
supply voltage and current values correspond with those of the mains at the installation location. e.g.: AC 220 ... 240 V 50 Hz or
220 ... 240 V~50 Hz (i.e. 220 to 240 volts alternating current, 50 Hertz) The rating plate is inside the appliance at the left.
10 818 36 92-01/4
Warning: To avoid potential danger, if the mains connection lead of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by our customer service representative or a person with similar qualifications.
Warning: Under no circumstances should the appliance be connected to electronic “power saving plugs” or to a.c.-d.c. converters which convert direct current to 230 V alternating current (e.g., solar installations, ship networks)
Mounting the door handle
To keep the amount of packaging down and to reduce the size for transporting, the door handle is not mounted when the appliance is delivered. The handle is packed separately on the padding in front of the door, the screws inside the appliance.
0 1. Fasten the handle to the door using the
screws supplied.
818 36 92-01/4 11

and at the back wall of the appliance. Never cover air vent openings.
• Do not place warm foods into the appliance. Allow warm foods to
cool first.
• Only leave door open as long as necessary.
• Do not set temperature any colder than necessary.
• Always keep the condenser at the back of the appliance clean.
18 818 36 92-01/4
Storage in the wine cooler
The temperature in the middle section of the refrigerater is displayed by the temperature indicator. The temperatures in the top section are a little warmer, in the bottom section a little colder. The temperature differences in the top and the bottom may be approx. 1 - 3 °C., depending on how many bottles are stored in the fridge section, in which places and how they are distributed. The wines should be distributed on the shelves according to their optimum storage temperatures: Red wines in the top section, rosé wines in the middle, white wines in the bottom section.
Wines that are being stored for a long period should normally be stored in the bottom section.
Recommended storage temperatures:
Type of wine Storage temperature
Red wine +15 to +17 °C
Light red wine +13 to +15 °C
Rosé wine +10 to +12 °C
White wine +8 to +10 °C
Champagne, sparkling wine +6 to +8 °C
If need be, the shelves can be pulled out towards the front and inserted into other levels.
To store opened bottles, the shelves can be inserted with the front in a higher level. The angle created in this way prevents the bottles from leaking.
Important! Do not bring bottles in contact with the back wall of the
1
appliance.
Take care when room temperature is low: the temperature in the wine
3
cooler can in the long term be no higher than the room temperature in the place in which it is installed.
818 36 92-01/4 19
Storage tips:
• Store bottles horizontally so that the corks do not dry out.
• Store wine in the dark.
• Do not shake bottles. The location in which the wine cooler is
installed should be as vibration-free as possible,
• Ensure constant temperatures in the refrigerator.
• Follow the optimum storage temperature and storage periods for the
various types of wine.
Storage times for some wines:
Wine Type of wine Storage time
Beaujolais Red wine 1 - 3 years
Bordeaux Supérieur Red wine 1 - 5 years
Pinot noir Red wine 2 - 8 years
Petit Chablis White wine 1 - 3 years
Dry Riesling White wine 1 - 8 years
Sweet Riesling White wine 5 - 50 years
Opening the Door
If the door is closed when the appliance is in operation, it cannot be immediately opened again, because a vacuum occurs which holds the door closed until pressure has been equalised. The door can be opened again after several minutes.
Defrosting
The Refrigerator is defrosted automatically
The electronics start the defrosting cycle in the refrigerator every time the compressor stops. The water collects in the discharge trough at the back wall of the refrigerator, and is fed through the discharge opening in the catch tray at the compressor where it is evaporated.

Technical Terminology
Refrigerant Liquids that can be used to a generate a cooling effect are known as refrigerants. They have a relatively low boiling-point, indeed so low, that the warmth from the food stored in the fridge or freezer can cause the refrigerant to boil and vaporise.
Refrigerant Circuit Closed circulation system that contains the refrigerant. The refrigerant circuit comprises primarily of an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser and pipe work.
Evaporator The refrigerant is evaporated in the evaporator. Similar to all other liquids, refrigerant requires heat to evaporate. This heat is removed from the interior of the appliance, as a result the interior is cooled. The evaporator is therefore located inside the appliance or placed in foam immediately behind the inner wall and thus not visible.
Compressor The compressor looks like a small drum. It is driven by a built-in electric motor and is mounted on the base of the appliance at the rear. The task of the compressor is to draw in vaporised refrigerant from the evaporator, to compress it, and to pass it on to the condenser.
Condenser The condenser normally has the form of a grid. The refrigerant compressed in the compressor is liquefied in the condenser. During this process, heat is released to the surrounding air at the surface of the condenser. The condenser is mounted on the base of the appliance.
