this and the following page! Keep the user
manual safe for future reference and also

1 Safety notes

AEG electrical appliances include industry­standard safety features and conform with
national safety legislation. As manufactur­ers, we nevertheless regard it as our duty to
familiarise customers with the following
safety considerations.

General safety

• The curling brush may be connected
only to a power socket carrying a volt­age and frequency matching the infor­mation on the model rating plate!

• Caution! Do not use this
curling brush near baths,
hand basins or other water­containing vessels!

• There is a residual risk even when the
curling brush is switched off. Remove
the curling brush plug from the power
socket after use and before cleaning!

• The hot air curler must not be used, if:
– there is any visible sign of damage to

the curling brush.

– the curling brush has been dropped.

• Never try to remove the plug from the

socket by pulling on the lead!

• The installation of a residual current cir­cuit breaker (RCD) with a rated trigger
current of less than 30 mA in the
domestic power supply provides addi­tional protection. Seek advice from a
qualified electrician.

• Do not wrap the power lead around the
brush.

• Periodically check the mains lead for
damage!

• To avoid damaging your hair, never block
the air outlets by wrapping hair too
tightly around the round brushes in rela­tion to the speed setting.

• Repairs to this appliance must be car­ried out by a qualified electrician.
Inexpert repairs can be dangerous. If
your curling brush needs repairing,
contact the AEG Customer Service
Department or your local dealer.

Child safety

• These instructions must be observed and
explained to children.

• To prevent accidents, do not allow chil­dren or people with motor deficiencies
to use hair care appliances unsupervised.

• Keep packaging materials, e.g. plastic
bags, out of the reach of children.

Points to observe when operating
the curling brush

• If the curling brush falls into water,
immediately remove the plug from the
mains socket. Do not, under any cir­cumstances, reach into the water!
Have the appliance checked by an
electrician!

• The curling brush must not be used
wet or with wet hands.

• Do not direct any sp ray can or water
mister into the curling brush.

• For safety reasons, switch the drier off
whenever you put it down.

• The round brush becomes hot during
operation. This is normal, and results
from the proper function of the appli­ance!

• The air intakes and outlets must never be
covered.

• Clean the air intake grille periodically
(e.g. with a vacuum cleaner or fine
brush) to remove any blockages. Do not
allow hair near the air intake.

• If the air flow is blocked while the curl­ing brush is operating (e.g. by dirt or
fluff), the integral overheat cut-out
automatically switches the appliance
off. Once it has cooled down (after a few
minutes) it automatically switches back
on.

• The power lead must not come into con­tact with the air outlet during operation.

• The manufacturer can accept no liabil­ity for any loss or damage arising from
improper use of the appliance (e.g.
damage to the power lead resulting
from it being wound around the curl­ing brush).

2 Disposal

Disposal of packaging material!

Disposal of packaging material. Dispose
properly of all material in which the curling
brush is packed. All packaging materials are
environmentally compatible and can be
safely deposited on landfill sites or inciner­ated. The cardboard parts are produced
from recycled paper and should be returned
to a paper recycling container. Take poly­ethylene (PE) bags to a PE recycling collec­tion point.

Disposal of old appliances!

When, at some time in the future, you stop
using your curling brush, please take it to
the nearest recycling centre or return it to
your local dealer, who will take it back at a
small charge.

Operating instructions

FOEN® CURLER 1000

This model has a slide switch (Figure 1/D)
with the following switch positions:

0 = OFF
1 = low airflow
2 = high airflow

It also has a «CARE programme» slide switch
(Figure 1/F) to reduce the heat output. This
has the following switch positions:

Switch to the front = reduced heat output
Switch to the rear = normal heat output

This model has a slide switch (Figure 4/D)
with the following switch positions:

0 = OFF
1 = low airflow
2 = high airflow

COOL button (Figure 1/E)
FOEN® CURLER 1000

To help you keep your hair as you have
styled it, it is advisable to finish drying your
hair with cool air.

0 Press the COOL button.

CARE programme (Figure 1/F)
FOEN® CURLER 1000

To select the CARE programme for styling
and drying at a reduced temperature, which
is kinder to your hair, press down the switch
(Figure 1/F) and push to the front. The CARE
programme can be used with both settings
of the airflow slide switch (Figure 1/D).

To switch the CARE programme off, push
the switch (Figure 1/F) back to the original
position. The curling brush now operates
with the full heat output.

Changing accessories
(Figures 2 and 5)

0 Push the button on the side of the

curling brush body to the position
marked . Remove the accessory you
wish to change.

0 Applying light pressure, push the

accessory you require on to the body.
Rotate the body to the position
marked . You will hear the acces­sory click into place.

Small round brush
(Figures 1/A and 4/A)

Before curling, lay strands of hair firmly
over the brush and brush through thor­oughly from the roots to the ends. Then roll
up the hair strands from the ends to form a
curl. Now switch on the curling brush (set­ting 1 or 2) and allow the hot air to work
on the curled hair until it is dry. Finally,
press the COOL button (FOEN® CURLER
1000, Figure 1/E) to cool the hair.

Large round brush (Figure 1/B)
FOEN® CURLER 1000

The bristles of the large round brush can be
retracted (Figure 3), allowing easy removal
of the brush once the curl has dried.

Wave nozzle (Figure 1/C)

The wave nozzle concentrates the flow of
air to dry small areas of the hair.

Hanger (Figures 1/G and 4/G)

The integral hanger allows space-saving
storage of the curling brush, ready for use.

Cleaning and care

3 Regular cleaning will considerably

extend the life of the curling brush.

Always remove the plug from the mains
socket before cleaning. Wipe the curling
brush with a dampened (not wet) cloth and
dry with a soft dry cloth. Never immerse the
curling brush in water, and protect it from
dust, dirt and fluff. From time to time, clean
the air intake grille with a soft brush.

To clean the accessories, immerse for a
short time in soapy water, and then clean
with a small hairbrush, rinse and dry. Stand
briefly with the opening downwards, to
allow any water residues to drain off.

Garantiebedingungen

Der Endabnehmer dieses Geräts (Verbraucher) hat
bei einem Kauf dieses Geräts von einem Unterneh-
mer (Händler) in Deutschland im Rahmen der Vor­schriften über den Verbrauchsgüterkauf gesetzliche
Rechte, die durch diese Garantie nicht einge­schränkt werden. Diese Garantie räumt dem Ver­braucher also zusätzliche Rechte ein. Dies
vorausgeschickt, leisten wir, AEG Hausgeräte
GmbH, gegenüber dem Verbraucher Garantie für

dieses Gerät für den Zeitraum von 24 Monaten
ab Übergabe zu den folgenden Bedingungen:

1. Mit dieser Garantie haften wir dafür, dass die­ses neu hergestellte Gerät im Zeitpunkt der
Übergabe vom Händler an den Verbraucher die
in unserer Produktbeschreibung für dieses
Gerät aufgeführten Eigenschaften aufweist. Ein
Mangel liegt nur dann vor, wenn der Wert oder
die Gebrauchstauglichkeit dieses Geräts erheb­lich gemindert ist. Zeigt sich der Mangel nach
Ablauf von sechs (6) Monaten ab dem Überga-
bezeitpunkt, so hat der Verbraucher nachzu­weisen, dass das Gerät bereits im
Übergabezeitpunkt mangelhaft war. Nicht
unter diese Garantie fallen Schäden oder Män-
gel aus nicht vorschriftsmäßiger Handhabung
sowie Nichtbeachtung der Gebrauchsanwei­sungen.

2. Dieses Gerät fällt nur dann unter diese Garan-
tie, wenn es in einem der Mitgliedsstaaten der
Europäischen Union gekauft wurde, es bei Auf­treten des Mangels in Deutschland betrieben
wird und Garantieleistungen auch in Deutsch­land erbracht werden können. Mängel müssen
uns innerhalb von zwei (2) Monaten nach des­sen Kenntnis angezeigt werden.

3. Mängel dieses Geräts werden wir innerhalb
angemessener Frist nach Mitteilung des Man­gels unentgeltlich beseitigen; die zu diesem
Zweck erforderlichen Aufwendungen, insbe­sondere Arbeits- und Materialkosten werden
von uns getragen. Über diese Nachbesserung
hinausgehende Ansprüche werden durch diese
Garantie dem Verbraucher nicht eingeräumt.

4. Im Garantiefall ist das Gerät vom Verbraucher
an die für seinen Wohnort zuständige AEG­Zentralwerkstatt zu versenden, wobei das Gerät
gut zu verpacken ist und die vollständige
Anschrift des Verbrauchers zusammen mit einer
kurzen Fehlerbeschreibung in das Paket zu
legen ist. Zum Nachweis des Garantie­Anspruchs ist der Sendung der Original-Kauf­beleg (Kassenzettel, Rechnung) beizufügen.

5. Garantieleistungen bewirken weder eine Ver­längerung noch einen Neubeginn der Garantie­zeit für dieses Gerät; ausgewechselte Teile
gehen in unser Eigentum über.

6. Mängelansprüche aus dieser Garantie verjähren
in zwei (2) Jahren ab dem Zeitpunkt der Über-
gabe des Geräts vom Händler an den Verbrau­cher, der durch den Original-Kaufbeleg
(Kassenzettel, Rechnung) zu belegen ist; wenn
dieses Gerät gewerblich genutzt wird, beträgt
die Verjährungsfrist sechs (6) Monate.
