Operating Instructions

1 Safety

Electrical Safety

The appliance may only be connected by a registered specialist.

In the event of any faults or damage to the appliance: remove fuses or switch off.

It is not permissible to clean the appliance with a steam or high pressure cleaner for safety reasons!

Repairs to the appliance may only be carried out by specialists. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious malfunctioning. If your appliance needs repairing, please contact your local AEG Service Force Centre or your specialist dealer.

Child Safety

• Never leave children unsupervised when the appliance is in use.

Safety whilst Using

This appliance is intended to be used for cooking, frying and baking food in the home.

Take care when connecting electric appliances to sockets nearby. Do not allow connecting leads to come into contact with hot rings or to catch beneath the hot oven door.

Warning: Risk of burns! The interior of the oven becomes hot during use.

Using ingredients containing alcohol in the oven may create an alcohol-air mixture that is easily ignited. In this case, open the door carefully. Do not have embers, sparks or naked flames in the vicinity when opening the door.

To Avoid Damaging Your Appliance

Do not line your oven with aluminium foil and do not place a baking tray or dish on the oven floor, otherwise the oven enamel will be damaged by the resulting build up of heat.

Juice from fruit that drips from baking trays will leave marks that cannot be removed. For very moist cakes, use the universal baking tray.

Do not put any weight on the oven door when it is open.

Never pour water directly into the hot oven. The enamel may be damaged.

Using force, especially on the edges of the front glass panel, may break the glass.

Do not store inflammable objects in the oven. They may ignite when the oven is switched on.

Do not store moist food in the oven. The enamel may be damaged.

2 Disposal

Disposing of the packaging material

All materials used can be fully recycled.

Plastics are marked as follows:

>PE< for polyethylene, as used for the outer wrapping and the bags inside.

>PS< for polystyrene foam, e.g., as used for the padding materials. They are completely free of CFCs.

Disposal of old appliances

1 Warning: Before disposing of old appliances please make them inoperable so that they cannot be the source of danger.

To do this, disconnect the appliance from the mains supply and remove the mains lead.

To protect the environment, it is important that worn out appliances are disposed of in the correct manner.

The appliance must not be disposed of with household rubbish.

You can obtain information about collection dates or public refuse disposal sites from your local refuse department or council.

Before Using for the First Time

Setting the time

3 The oven functions only when the time has been set.

After the appliance has been connected to the electricity supply and following a power failure the „set time“ W arrow flashes.

Set the current time using the +/- switch.

Wait for 5 seconds.

The flashing will stop and the clock will display the set time.

The appliance is ready for use.

Initial Cleaning

Before using the oven for the first time you should clean it thoroughly.

1 Caution: Do not use any caustic, abrasive cleaners! The surface could be damaged.

3 To clean metal fronts use commercially available cleaning agents.

1.Turn the oven function switch to oven lighting L.

2.Remove all accessories and the shelf support rails and wash them with warm water and washing up liquid.

3.Then wash out the oven with warm water and washing-up liquid, and dry.

4.Wipe the front of the appliance with a damp cloth.

Switching the oven on

Turn the "oven functions" switch to the required function. The temperature display indicates the recommended temperature for the oven function selected.

The oven begins to heat up.

A signal will sound when the set temperature has been reached.

Changing the oven temperature

Turn the +/- switch to raise or lower the temperature.

The temperature adjustment takes place in steps of 5 °C.

Thermometer symbol

The slowly rising thermometer display indicates the temperature to which the oven has already heated.

The three segments of the thermometer that flash one after the other indicate that the Schnellaufheizung is in operation.

Ascertaining the temperature

Press check temperature switch C in order to ascertain the oven's current temperature.

Switching off the oven

To switch off the ove, turn the „oven functions“ switch and the „temperature selection“ switch to the zero position.

3 Cooling fan

When the oven is switched on, the fan comes on automatically to keep the surfaces the appliance cool. When the oven is switched off, the fan continues to operate to cool the appliance down, then switches itself off.

3 Operating the switch

Turn the switch to the right or to the left within the marked area in order to set a time, temperature or function.

1 Important: Do not turn the switch past the point of resistance.

Oven Functions

The oven has the following functions:

3 The Top Heat/Bottom Heat ¡ and Turbo All-Round Grill » functions include an automatic Fast Warm Up function. This garantees that the temperature selected will be reached as quickly as possible.

L Oven lighting

With this function you can illuminate the oven interior, e.g., for cleaning. The heating element is not in use.

¥ Hot air (Fan oven)

Suggested temperature: 180°C

For roasting and baking on up to three shelf positions at the same time. Set the oven temperature 20-40°C lower than for Top/Bottom Heat.

The rear wall heating element is on, and the fan is also on.

¡ Top/Bottom Heat (Conventional)

Suggested temperature: 200°C

For baking and frying/roasting on one shelf position. The Top and Bottom Heat heating elements are on.

» Rotitherm

Recommended temperature: 180°C

For roasting larger pieces of meat or poultry on one level. This function is also suitable for cooking au gratin and browning.

The grill element and top element operate alternatively with the fan.

¸ Infrared grill

Suggested temperature: 250°C

For grilling flat foods placed in the middle of the grid, for example steaks, escalopes, fish, or for toasting.

The grill heating element is on.

º Infrared Wide-Area Grill

Recommended temperature: 250°C

For grilling flat foods in large quantities, such as steaks, schnitzel and fish, or for toasting.

The top heating element and the grill element are in use.

O Top Heat

Suggested temperature: 120°C

For browning/topping bread, cakes, and pastries, and for soufflés. The Top Heat heating element is on.

U Bottom Heat

Suggested temperature: 120°C

For baking cakes with crusty bases.

Bottom Heat is on.

Inserting the general purpose pan, grill, and tray

Inserting the general purpose pan and tray:

The trays have a little bulge on the left and right edges. These are provided as positioning guides and must always be located towards the rear when inserting the tray.

For grills:

Insert the tray at the desired position.

Inserting/Removing the Fat Filter

The fat filter protects the rear wall heating element against splashes of fat when roasting.

Holding the fat filter by the tab, insert the two retainers into the opening on the rear wall of the oven (fan opening) from the top downwards.

Removing the fat filter

Take hold of the tab on the fat filter and remove by pulling upwards.

Clock Functions

Cook time d

To set how long the oven is to be in use.

Countdown G

To set a countdown. A signal sounds after the time has elapsed. This function does not affect the functioning of the oven.

End time e

To set when the oven is to switch off again.

Time W

To set, change or check the time.

(See also section “Before Using for the First Time”.)

3 General Advice

After a clock function has been chosen, the relevant arrow flashes for approx. 5 seconds. During this time the desired times can be set or changed using the +/- switch.

After the desired time has been set the arrow will flash again for approx.

5 seconds. Following this, the arrow will remain lit. A countdown of the time that has been set will begin.

After the cook time function and end time clock function have elapsed, the function selector switch must be switched back to „0“.

Countdown timer G

1.Continue pressing the clock functions button “T” until the countdown timer arrow G is flashing.

2.Set the desired period of time using the +/- button. (Max. 99 minutes).

After approx. 5 seconds the display will indicate the amount of time remaining.

The countdown timer arrow G will be lit. When the period of time has elapsed, an acoustic signal will sound for 2 minutes.

The countdown timer arrow G will flash.

To switch the signal off:

Press the clock functions button “T”.
