General safety information

Keep the product and all its parts out of reach of small children. This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical,

sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

• Do not attempt to open the product. This product does not contain any user serviceable parts. Unauthorised handling of the device may damage it and will void your warranty.

• Do not use your HiFi near emergency/intensive care medical equipment or during an electrical storm.

Caution

To avoid possible hearing damage, do not listen to this HiFi at high volume levels for long periods of time. Always keep the volume within reasonable limits.

Caution: This is a CLASS-1 laser product.

• Use of controls or adjustments other than those speciﬁed herein, may result in hazardous laser light beam exposure.

• Do NOT open the cover and do NOT attempt to repair it yourself.

• Refer servicing to qualiﬁed personnel. This product does not contain any user serviceable parts.

• Unauthorised handling of the device may damage it and will void your warranty.

Power source

• Only use the power supply that came with the product. Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidate your guarantee and may irrecoverably damage the product.

• Disconnect your HiFI from the mains power supply during thunderstorms.

• Always check that you have completely switched off your HiFi, before you change or disconnect the power supply.

• Where the mains power plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.

• If the HiFi will not be used for a long period of time, make sure that the mains power is unplugged.

Important safety information

Positioning your HiFi

It is important that you consider carefully in advance where your HiFi will be situated and make sure that it is:

• on a ﬂat and stable surface.

• within 1.4 metres of a power socket. Please ensure that the mains power lead and speaker cables are not a trip hazard.

• at least 1 metre away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference.

• where it will be in range of your router for WiFi connectivity or a ‘paired’ bluetooth device (e.g. iPod/iPhone/iPad/Android/other phone/Computer), which is about 10 metres or less (33 feet or less) in line of sight.

• where you can fully extend the telescopic aerial.

• Never place your HiFi directly onto antique or polished surfaces.

Moisture and water

• Keep it dry. Avoid exposure to precipitation, humidity and liquids which could all affect the product circuitry.

• Do not leave it in low temperatures as moisture can form inside the product, which may damage the circuit board.

Ventilation

• Do not block or cover slots, holes or openings on the product by placing on soft furnishings such as carpets, rugs or beds as these are provided for functionality and/or ventilation to ensure safe operation of the product.

Heat sources and ﬂames

• Do not leave it in high temperatures as electronic devices and plastic parts may warp in heat.

• Keep it away from bright sunlight or heat sources, such as a radiator.

• Never place any type of candle or naked ﬂame on top of, or near the product.

Note: The remote signal may not be received if there is an obstacle between the remote and the HiFi.

Direct sunlight or other bright light sources shining on the remote sensor to the left of the HiFi display, may affect the performance of the remote control.

Setup wizard

Using your HiFi

Connection

1. Connect the speakers to the Left (white) and Right (red) speaker sockets on the back of the

HiFi.

2. Fully extend the radio aerial on the back of the HiFi to receive the best possible radio

reception and sound quality when you scan for DAB and FM radio stations.

3. Plug the mains power plug into the mains power wall socket and

switch on. The HiFi will switch on, the Acoustic Solutions logo will be displayed for a few seconds.

4. Please wait, the Setup wizard screen will then be displayed for you

to enter the settings required to connect to your home router for WiFi internet Radio and My Music access.

5. Pull out the safety strip on the remote control to activate the battery.

Initial set-up

On ﬁrst use your HiFi will display the Setup wizard screen for you enter the settings to connect to your home router for WiFi internet Radio and My Music access. We recommend that you do proceed with this Setup and we have included the steps to do this below.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to run the Setup wizard to connect to your router later, use the rotary Tune/Select control to highlight ‘NO’ and short press to select. A further screen will be presented to check if you would like to run the Setup wizard the next time you power on your HiFi. Use the Tune/Select control to highlight YES or NO as appropriate and short press the Tune/Select control. The main menu screen for your HiFi will then be displayed.

Note: If at any point during the Setup wizard process, you wish to go back to change a setting, just short press the Menu/Info button, which is under the rotary volume control.

Use the Tune/Select control to highlight your preferred option and press to select. The steps are included here for if you select the highlighted option of ‘Update from Network’.

4. The Set Timezone screen is displayed and UK timezone of UTC +00:00: Dublin, London

is the ﬁrst option highlighted at the top of the display. Use the Tune/Select control to highlight your preferred option and press to select.

5. The Daylight savings screen is displayed and the OFF option is highlighted. Use the

Tune/Select control to highlight your preferred option and press to select.

6. The Network settings screen is displayed Please select ‘YES’ if you would like to keep your

HiFi connected to the Network all of the time. This is the recommended option. If you prefer to turn off the network connection when you are using DAB or FM Radio or Aux in mode, you will need to remember to reconnect to your network manually each time you wish to use the Internet radio or My Music features.

7. Use the Tune/Select control to highlight your preferred option and press to select.

8. The Wlan region screen is displayed. There is only 1 option of ‘Europe’. Press the Tune/

Select control to select.

9. The Network settings screen is displayed whilst your HiFi scans for available WiFi

networks.

10. After a few seconds a list the Network Names or (also know as

SSIDs), for the WiFi networks found during the scan will be displayed. If your router supports WiFi Protected Setup, then [WPS] will be shown just before the Network name or SSID.

Use the Tune/Select control to highlight the WiFi Network that the HiFi should connect to and press to select.

Note: If your WiFi network is not listed, if may be because your router has been set not to broadcast its Network Name or SSID. Please check your router settings; you can opt to change your router to broadcast its network name, or you can enter the Network settings into the HiFi manually. Long press Menu/Info, then select Network, then Manual settings from within the Internet radio menu.

Note: If your router is set to broadcast its Network name or SSID, but it has not been found, please ﬁrst try to scan again for WiFi networks. Short press the Menu/Info button to go back and then proceed through the previous two screens to scan for WiFi networks again. If your network is still not found, please try moving your HiFi closer to your router and then scan for WiFi networks again.

11. If your router supports WiFi Protected Setup (WPS), the WPS Menu

screen will be displayed at this point. If your router does not support WPS, then please go to step 12.

Network settings

Using your HiFi

Push button - If you highlight and select this option, the WPS Setup screen will be displayed and you will be prompted to ‘Push WPS button at the other end’ (on your router). Then short press the Tune/Select control to SELECT. The router encryption key will be sent automatically to your HiFi.

PIN - If you highlight and select this option, the WPS Setup PIN screen will be displayed. Please enter the PIN displayed on your HiFi into your router using a web browser (please refer to your router instructions). Then short press the Tune/Select control to SELECT. The router encryption key will be sent automatically to your HiFi.

Skip WPS - If you highlight and select this option, you can enter your router encryption key manually.

Note: If you selected either the Push Button or PIN option, the display will change to show that your HiFi is ‘Connecting ...’ to your router. After a short delay, ‘Connected’, then ‘Setup wizard completed’ will be displayed. Short press the Tune/Select control to SELECT and display the Main Menu. Your HiFi is now connected via your router to the internet.

12. If your router does not support WPS and does not have an encryption key, ‘Connecting...’,

followed by ‘Connected’, then ‘Setup wizard completed’ will be displayed. Short press the Tune/Select control to SELECT and display the Main Menu. Your HiFi is now connected via your router to the internet.

13. If your router requires an encryption key, the Key screen will be

displayed.

You will need to enter the correct wireless password or encryption key, either Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or WiFi Protected Access (WPA) into your HiFi, to enable it to connect to your router. Some wireless routers already have an encryption key or password that has been set by the manufacturer, this will be shown either on the router itself or within the documentation provided with it.

To enter the wireless password or encryption key into your HiFi, use the Tune/Select control to move around the key screen and press to select each letter or number required.

On the right hand side of the key screen are three additional options:

BKSP - to delete a number or character that you have just entered. OK - When you have correctly entered the complete wireless password or encryption

key. CANCEL - To cancel the wireless password or encryption key entry and rescan for

wireless networks.

Using your HiFi

Short press the Menu/Info button to move from the number and letters part of the screen to the three options on the right hand side. Use the Tune/Select control to move up and down the options and press to select. Short press the Menu/Info button again to move back to the numbers and letters part of the screen.

Note: You must enter the wireless password or encryption key exactly, as it appears on your router or router documentation, including upper or lower case letters, to enable your HiFi to connect successfully to your router.

After you have entered your wireless password or encryption key and selected OK, ‘Connecting...’, followed by ‘Connected’, then ‘Setup wizard completed’ will be displayed. Short press the Tune/Select control to SELECT and display the Main Menu. Your HiFi is now connected via your router to the internet.

Power on

Short press the Power button on the HiFi or on the remote control.

Power off

Short press the Power button on the HiFi or on the remote control. The Standby screen will be displayed with the current date and time.

Change the mode

1. Short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control. The 7 mode options of

Using your HiFi

Using headphones

You can connect headphones with a 3.5mm plug (not included) to your HiFi. The stereo headphone socket can be found on the front of the HiFi, underneath and to the right of the large rotary volume control.

When you have headphones connected the HiFi speakers are switched off and all sound is via the headphones.

Note: Always keep the volume within reasonable limits.

Internet radio

Using the Internet Radio

Internet Radio mode

Check that you are in internet radio mode. If you are not already in Internet radio mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight Internet radio. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

With your HiFi you can listen to thousands of radio stations and podcasts from around the world; you just need to connect to your home router via WiFi for an Internet Broadband connection. If you did not run the Setup up wizard when you ﬁrst powered on your HiFi, you will need to do this now.

To start the Setup wizard:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button to enter the menu options.

2. Use the rotary Tune/Select control to scroll to System settings and press to select.

3. Use the rotary Tune/Select control to scroll to Network and press to select.

4. Network wizard will be highlighted. Press the rotary Tune/Select control to select.

5. Follow the steps from page 7 to connect your HiFi with your home router for Internet radio

access.

Selecting an Internet radio station

There are several different ways of selecting Internet Radio stations to listen to on your HiFi. Such as:

• Location - ﬁnd a radio station by its location in the world.

• Genre - search for stations worldwide broadcasting the type of music you like to listen to.

• Search stations - Search by station name.

• Popular stations - lists the most listened to, popular stations on the internet.

• New stations - lists the latest stations broadcasting.

In internet radio mode:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to

enter the menu options.

2. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and

buttons on the remote control to highlight Station list. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

After a short delay the station should start to play.

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to

enter the menu options.

2. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight Station list. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control,to select.

3. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight Search stations. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

4. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and

buttons on the remote control to move around the Search stations screen and press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select each letter or number required to enter the name of the radio station that you would like to search for.

On the right hand side of the key screen are three additional options:

BKSP - to delete a number or character that you have just entered. OK - When you have ﬁnished entering the Station name that you would like to search for. CANCEL - To cancel the search and return to the previous screen.

5. When you have entered the station name that you would like to search for, short press

the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to move to the three options on the right hand side of the screen.

6. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight OK. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select. Please wait, Loading... will be displayed.

7. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight a station from the search list. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

Podcasts

Some radio stations enable you to listen to programmes that have already been broadcast. There are also programmes available that have been created for download onto a computer or portable device, such as a tablet or mobile phone.

These are commonly known as Podcasts. You can search for Podcasts to listen to on your HiFi.

In internet radio mode:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to

enter the menu options.

2. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight Station list. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

3. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight Podcasts. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

4. You can now choose to search for Podcasts by Location or Genre, or to search using the

name of the Podcast. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight the option you would like and press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

Internet radio

Using the Internet Radio

5. If you select to search using the name of the podcast, this works the same way as when

you are searching for an internet radio station. See page 13, Searching for an Internet Radio Station, point 4.

6. When you have entered the podcast name that you would like to search for, short press

the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to move to the three options on the right hand side of the screen.

7. Use the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control

to highlight OK. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select. Please wait, Loading... will be displayed.

8. Use the Tune/Select control to highlight a podcast from the search list and press to select.

Last listened

Your HiFi will store up to 10 of the most recent Internet radio stations or Podcasts that you have listened to and there is a very quick and easy way to access these stations.

In internet radio mode:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button

on the remote control to enter the Internet radio menu. Last listened is highlighted at the top of the list.

2. Short press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button

on the remote control to display up to 10 of the most recent Internet radio stations or Podcasts that you have listened to.

Note: As you listen to each new internet radio station or podcast, these are added to the top of this list and the older stations and podcasts are then deleted from the bottom of the list.

3. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to highlight the Station or Podcast that you would like to listen to and press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

4. Your HiFi will now connect to that Station or Podcast, if it is still available, and begin to

play.

Using the Internet Radio

Storing Internet radio station presets

Your HiFi can store up to 40 Internet radio stations in its preset memories for instant access to your favourite stations.

Note: When you store your Internet radio station presets, these do not overwrite your DAB or FM radio station presets.

Storing Internet station presets

1. Tune your HiFi to the Internet station that you wish to preset.

2. Long press the Preset button on the HiFi or the Prog button on the remote control. Use

the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to move to the preset location that you would like to store the radio station to (1-

40).

3. Short press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

The display will conﬁrm Preset stored.

Note: If there is already an existing Internet station stored under a preset, it will be overwritten when you store the new station.

Recalling Internet station presets

In internet radio mode:

1. Short press the Preset button. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the

and buttons on the remote control to move to the Preset location and station that you would like to listen to (1-40).

2. Short press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control

The HiFi will tune to that station and begin to play.

Note: If no Internet station has been stored under the preset button, ‘Preset empty’ will be displayed, then the HiFi will revert to the previously selected radio station.

Internet radio information

When listening to an internet radio station you can change the information that will appear on the display. There are several different types of information that may be available, depending on the station that you are listening to.

• Description - This is text information which could be the name of an artist or music title, DJ’s name, contact details etc.

• Genre - Displays programme type information e.g. Rock, Pop, Talk, News, etc. and the location of the current radio station.

• Reliability - Displays the reliability of the data stream for the station you are listening to, e.g. Reliability: Excellent.

Using the Internet Radio

• Bit rate, Codec and Sampling rate - e.g. Bit rate: 320kbps, Codec: AAC and Sampling rate: 48.0 kHz.

• Playback buffer - When playing an internet radio stream, your HiFi downloads a small amount of the stream before it starts to play, this is called ‘buffering’. The playback buffer indicates the status of the buffer when connected to an internet radio station. If there are not many or no bars, then there are likely to be interruptions to the playback of that particular internet radio station.

• Today’s Date

1. Repeatedly short press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Info button on the remote

control to cycle through the different information options.

My favourites

As well as storing radio stations to your presets, you can also save to a My Favourites listing.

Saving to the My Favourites list

In internet radio mode:

1. Tune your HiFi to the Internet station that you wish to save to My Favourites.

2. Long press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote

control until ‘Favourite added’ is displayed.

enter the menu options. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight the Station list and press the Tune/Select on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select.

2. My Favourites will be highlighted at the top of the list. Press the rotary Tune/Select control

on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control. Stations will be highlighted. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

3. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to highlight the Favourite station you would like to listen to and press the Tune/ Select on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control, to select. The HiFi will tune to that station and begin to play.

Using the Internet Radio

Registering on the Frontier Silicon Portal

If you register your product on the Frontier Silicon Portal, you can organise your Favourites listings and also add your own internet radio stations to the portal, so that they can be listened to on your HiFi.

To register on the portal you will need the following:

• A computer or other device with a web browser to access the www.wiﬁradio-frontier. com website.

• An Access code from your HiFi. This will only be valid for a few minutes, so please make sure that your HiFi is already connected to your router and you are in internet radio mode before you begin the registration process.

• Your e-mail address.

• A pass phrase of your choosing, which must have a minimum of 6 characters.

• Your HiFi model, which is the ‘Jupiter 6.5’.

To generate your access code:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control,

to enter the menu options. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and

buttons on the remote control to highlight ‘Station list’. Press the Tune/Select on the

HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

2. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to scroll and highlight ‘Help’. Press the Tune/Select on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

3. Get access code will be highlighted. Short press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi

or the Select button on the remote control.

4. Your access code will be displayed. Please make a note of it and then enter it on the

Frontier Silicon registration screen.

Note: Your access code will only be valid for a few minutes, so you will need to enter it onto the Frontier Silicon registration screen quickly, or follow the steps above to generate a new access code.

5. Once you have successfully registered on the Frontier Silicon portal, you can organise

your favourites and added new stations easily and then play them on your HiFi. Just long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to enter the internet radio menu options. Select ‘Station list’ and then ‘My Favourites’ or ‘My Added Stations’ as appropriate.

Using the Music Player

Music player mode

If you are not already in Music player mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight My Music. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

In music player mode, you can listen to audio ﬁles that are stored on your computer via your HiFi. MP3, WMA, AAC,WAV and FLAC audio ﬁle types are supported.

UPnP media sharing enables your HiFi to play music from a shared media library. If you are using a suitable server system such as a computer with Windows Media Player 10 or later (WMP), and your music library is well tagged, only the UPnP server needs to be set up.

Note: If you are an Apple Mac user, iTunes does not currently work as a UPnP media server, but there are add-ons available to work with an iTunes library, such as Plex Media Server. These are not covered within this guide.

In order to play the audio ﬁles on your HiFi, you must ﬁrst ensure the following:

• Your HiFi has the ‘Keep Network Connected’ option turned on. See page 8, point 6.

• Your computer is connected to the same router and network as your HiFi.

• The audio ﬁles are stored in the correct location on your computer.

• The audio ﬁles are not ‘protected’.

• Your computer has the correct type of audio ﬁles and playlists stored on a networked computer.

• Your computer has ﬁle sharing turned on.

• The audio ﬁles can be shared on the network.

• You know the name of your computer.

Setting up your Windows computer to allow access to your audio ﬁles

1. Ensure that your computer is connected to the same router and network as your HiFi.

2. Check that your HiFi is connected to the same router and network as your computer and

has the ‘Keep Network Connected” option turned on. See page 8, point 6.

3. On your computer, in the Windows Media Player, add to the media library the audio ﬁles

and folders that you would like to share with your HiFi.

4. In Windows Media Player, enable media sharing, select Library > Media sharing.

5. Ensure that your HiFi will be able to access the shared media by selecting it within the

Windows Media Player and clicking ‘Allow’. You can also choose a name for the shared media in ‘Settings’. Click ‘OK’ to close the dialogue boxes.

6. Your computer is now ready to stream the music to your HiFi.

Using the Music Player

Playing audio ﬁles using Music player mode

In music player mode:

1. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to highlight shared media. Press the Tune/Select on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

2. Your HiFi will now load and display the names of the computer(s) on your network that

have shared media available. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on your HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight and then select the computer which has the audio ﬁles that you would like to play.

3. The menus presented to you on your HiFi are now generated by the media server, such

as the Windows Media Player. Your HiFi can play Music and Playlists and there is also a search option available.

4. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to highlight and then press the Tune/Select on your HiFi or the Select button on your remote control to select to play your music choices

5. You can also use the skip back, skip forward, play/pause and Stop

buttons on your HiFi or remote control, when streaming music from your computer.

Using the DAB Radio

Radio aerial

Please make sure that the radio aerial on the back of the HiFi is fully extended and adjusted before you attempt to tune to a DAB radio station (a vertical position is recommended). This will ensure that the maximum signal strength is available when the HiFi begins to scan. Extending the aerial also ensures the best possible sound quality.

DAB radio mode

Check that your HiFi is in DAB radio mode. If you are not already in DAB radio mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight DAB radio. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

The ﬁrst time you use DAB radio or if the station list is empty, your HiFi will automatically begin to scan for DAB radio stations. A progress bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found during the scan will also be displayed.

When the scan is complete your HiFi will display the DAB station list. Stations are listed in numerical and then alphabetical order by default.

Changing DAB stations

In DAB mode:

1. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to move through the available stations.

2. When the station that you would like to listen to is displayed press the rotary Tune/Select

control on the HiFi or press Select on the remote control. There will be a short delay whilst your HiFi tunes to your selected station.

Scanning for DAB stations

With DAB radio, additional stations and services regularly become available so it’s a good idea to carry out a manual scan every now and then to make sure that you have the most up to date station listing stored within the memory of your HiFi.

If you have moved your HiFi to another location, then it’s also a good idea to carry out a manual scan.

In DAB mode:

1. Short press the Scan button on the remote control to begin a search for stations. The

display will change to ‘Scanning...’. A progress bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found during the scan will also be displayed.

Using the DAB Radio

Prune DAB stations

You can remove the DAB stations in the station list that cannot be received in your area. These are listed with a ‘?’ preﬁx.

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control.

Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to move to Prune invalid. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

2. ‘This removes all invalid stations, continue YES NO’ is displayed. Use the rotary Tune/

Select control on the HiFi or the button on the remote control to highlight YES. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to conﬁrm. Stations with a ‘?’ preﬁx will now no longer be displayed.

Storing a DAB station preset

Your HiFi can store up to 40 DAB radio stations in its preset memories for instant access to your favourite stations.

Note: When you store DAB radio station presets, these do not overwrite your Internet or FM station presets.

Storing DAB station presets

1. Tune your HiFi to the DAB station that you wish to preset.

2. Long press the Preset button on the HiFi or the Prog button on the remote control. Use

the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to move to the preset location that you would like to store the radio station to (1-

40).

3. Short press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

The display will conﬁrm Preset stored.

Note: If there is already an existing DAB station stored under a preset, it will be overwritten when you store the new station.

Recalling DAB station presets

In DAB radio mode:

1. Short press the Preset button on the HiFi or the Prog button on the remote control. Use

the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to move to the Preset location and station that you would like to listen to (1-40).

Using the DAB Radio

2. Short press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

The HiFi will tune to that station and begin to play.

Note: If no DAB station has been stored under the preset button, ‘Preset empty’ will be displayed, then the HiFi will revert to the previously selected radio station.

DAB display information

When listening to a DAB station you can change the information that will appear on the display. There are several different types of information that are sent by the broadcaster.

• Dynamic Label Segment (DLS) - this is text information supplied by the broadcaster. Information could be the name of an artist or music title, DJ’s name, contact details for the radio station etc.

• Program Type (PTY) - such as ‘Rock’, ‘Pop‘, Talk’ or ‘News’

• Multiplex Name - displays the broadcasting area and collection of radio stations on this frequency e.g.: BBC National DAB, Digital 1 Network.

• Signal error - This is displayed as a number between 0-99. It would not be possible to satisfactorily listen to a ratio station with a signal error rate of 30 or above. Try adjusting the aerial or relocating your HiFi to improve reception.

• Signal information - The data rate at which the signal is being transmitted.

• Today’s date - supplied by the broadcaster.

1. Repeatedly short press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Info button on the remote

control to cycle through the different information options.

Dynamic range control (DRC)

In DAB mode: The dynamic range for each radio programme is set by the broadcaster for each radio

station and may be different for the types of programme broadcast, such as pop or classical music or a chat show. The dynamic range control signal is transmitted in parallel with the audio signal for each programme and with your HiFi you can use this control signal to expand or compress the dynamic range (the difference between the loudest and quietest sounds) of the reproduced audio signal. Changing the dynamic range can affect the ‘loudness’ and/or ‘quality of sound’ of the programme that you hear so that it will be more suited to your listening conditions and your own personal listening requirements. e.g. in a noisy environment, where quiet sounds might be swamped, setting the compression to maximum will ‘boost’ the quiet sounds, whilst keeping the loudest sounds at their original level.

Using the DAB Radio

There are 3 levels of compression:

• DRC off - no compression. This is the default setting.

• DRC low - medium compression.

• DRC high - maximum compression.

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control to

enter the menu options.

2. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to move to DRC. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

Note: The current DRC setting will have an ‘*’ in the display.

3. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to scroll through the options. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

Using the FM Radio

Radio aerial

Please make sure that the radio aerial on the back of the HiFi is fully extended and adjusted before you attempt to tune to an FM radio station (a vertical position is recommended). This will ensure that the maximum signal strength is available when the HiFi begins to scan. Extending the aerial also ensures the best possible sound quality.

FM Radio mode

Check that your HiFi is in FM radio mode. If you are not already in FM radio mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight FM radio. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

When your HiFi is in FM mode it can receive Radio Data System or ‘RDS’ information if this is being transmitted by the broadcaster. RDS information will often include the station name, detail about the programme and the current time.

If you were listening to an FM station when you switched the HiFi to standby, then this station will be automatically selected when you switch the HiFi back on.

Tuning to an FM station

In FM mode:

1. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi to scroll through the FM frequency band.or

you can:

• Short press the scan button on the remote control to scan up the frequency band.

• Long press the scan button on the remote control to scan down the frequency band. Your HiFi will search for the next available station and then stop on that station.

2. Short press the and buttons on the HiFi or on the remote control to ﬁne tune each frequency in 0.05MHz steps, if necessary.

Note: If reception is still poor check that the aerial is fully extended or try moving the HiFi to another location.

Changing the scan setting

In FM mode:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control. Scan setting is highlighted. Press the rotary control on the HiFi to Select or the Select button on the remote control.

Using the FM Radio

2. Strong stations only? YES NO will be displayed and the NO option will be highlighted.

If you select YES: Your HiFi will scan for Strong stations only. The scan will only stop

when a strong signal strength is received which should also result in a better audio quality. It is possible that the station you are scanning for may be missed using this option.

If you select NO: Your HiFi will scan for All stations. The scan will stop for every

station it receives, even if the signal strength is poor.

3. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to choose from the two options available. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

Audio mode

The HiFi will automatically switch between Stereo and Mono, depending on the quality of the signal being received but you can override this function and manually switch to Mono only.

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control.

2. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to move to Audio setting. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

3. Listen in Mono only? YES NO will be displayed.

4. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to choose from the two options available. Press the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

Storing an FM station preset

Your HiFi can store up to 40 FM radio stations in its preset memories for instant access to your favourite stations.

Note: When you store FM radio station presets, these do not overwrite your Internet or DAB station presets.

• Today’s date - Supplied by the broadcaster.

Bluetooth mode

Bluetooth (BT) mode

Check that your HiFi is in Bluetooth mode. If you are not already in Bluetooth mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight Bluetooth. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

will ﬂash in the bottom right of the display. If a device has not been ‘paired’ or connected with your HiFi, will continue to ﬂash. If you have previously ‘paired’ or connected a device with your HiFi, after a few seconds the will stop ﬂashing and will be continuously on.

NFC touch point

Your HiFi has an NFC touch point to enable quick and easy Bluetooth pairing with other NFC enables devices.

In Bluetooth (BT) Mode:

1. When is ﬂashing in the display, just touch your other NFC enabled device to the NFC

touch point logo on the top front of your HiFi. When pairing is complete will stop ﬂashing in the display and will be continuously on.

Note: The Bluetooth name of your HiFi is ‘AS micro wiﬁ’.

2. To disconnect an NFC bluetooth connection, just touch your other NFC enabled device to

the NFC touch point logo again. After disconnection, will ﬂash in the HiFi display again.

Connecting or ‘Pairing’ with your HiFi

In Bluetooth (BT) Mode:

1. will ﬂash in the display.

2. On the device that you would like to connect to your HiFi via Bluetooth (e.g. iPhone/iPad/

Android/other phone/Tablet/Computer), turn on Bluetooth connectivity and ensure that it is ‘discoverable’.

Note: If necessary, refer to the instructions for your device to add or set up Bluetooth.

3. Select to ‘Add new device’, if necessary.

Note: Some products will automatically search for a new device and so the ‘Add new device’ option is not available.

4. When found, your HiFi will be displayed as ‘AS micro wiﬁ’. Select the device name to

begin pairing.

5. When pairing is complete will stop ﬂashing in the display and will remain continuously

on.

6. Now that you have paired your device with the HiFi, it will connect to it when it is within

range, which is about 10 metres or less (33 feet or less), line of sight.

Bluetooth mode

7. Your device will remain paired with the HiFi unless you decide to disconnect or ‘unpair’ it.

Note: If your device should become unpaired for any reason, follow the steps above to ‘pair’ it again.

You can Long press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control to disconnect the current device and search for new devices.

Listening to Music/Audio using Bluetooth

In Bluetooth mode:

1. Select and start the music or audio that you wish to listen to on your paired Bluetooth

device, it will now be heard through the HiFi speakers. Adjust the volume on the connected device and/or your HiFi.

Note: If your previously paired device is within range but does not automatically connect, go to the Bluetooth connectivity settings on your device and select ‘AS micro wiﬁ’ to reconnect. Alternatively, you can press and release the Pair button on the remote control to restart the Bluetooth pairing process.

2. You can use the controls on your paired Bluetooth device as well as those on the front of

the HiFi or on the remote control when listening to music via Bluetooth.

Controls available on your HiFi and the remote control are:

• Play/Pause

Press and release to play/pause.

• Skip back

Press and release to skip back to the previous track.

• Skip forward

Press and release to skip forward to the next track.

Using the CD Player

CD mode

Check that your HiFi is in CD mode. If you are not already in CD mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight CD. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select. ‘Reading...’, followed by ‘No disc’ will be displayed. If there is a CD in the compartment, ‘Reading...’, following by the total number of tracks on the CD and the total play time, will be displayed.

Play a CD

It is not possible to play DVD or computer CDs on your HiFi.

1. Short press the button on the front of the HiFi or on the remote control to open the CD

drawer. ‘Eject’ will be displayed.

2. Place an audio CD, label side up, onto the CD drawer. Please ensure that you place the

CD into the recessed section and that it sits ﬂat.

3. Short press the button on the front of the HiFi or on the remote control to close the CD

drawer. Once the drawer has closed, ‘Reading...’, followed by ‘Stop’ will be displayed.

Note: If there is no CD in the compartment, ‘No disc’ will be displayed.

CD controls

You can use the following controls on your HiFi or remote control in CD mode.

• Play

Short press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control. The ﬁrst track will begin to play and the track number and the elapsed time of the track will be displayed.

• Pause

Short press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control. The elapsed time of the track will ﬂash in pause mode. Press and release the button again to continue to play the track/CD.

• Next track:

Short press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control.

• Previous track:

Short press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control.

• Fast forward within a track:

Long press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control.

• Fast backward within a track:

Long press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control.

Using the CD Player

• Stop

Short press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control.

Programmed play mode

In programmed play mode, you can program the play order of the tracks on your CD. You can program up to 20 tracks in total.

Note: To set up programmed play mode, the CD must be stopped in the CD compartment and must not be paused or playing.

In CD mode, with the CD you wish to programme in the CD compartment and stopped:

1. Short press the Preset button on the HiFi or the ‘Prog.’ button on the remote control to

enter CD programmed play mode. ‘P01 T00’ will be displayed and the ‘00’ will ﬂash.

2. Use the and buttons on the HiFi or on the remote control to go to the track

number that you would like to program to play ﬁrst. Short press the Preset button on the HiFi or the Prog. button on the remote control to conﬁrm.

3. ‘P02 T00’ will now be displayed and the ‘00’ will ﬂash. You can now select the second

track that you would like to programme. Continue to select each track as in Step 2 above, up to a total of 20 tracks. Short press the Preset button on the HiFi or the Prog. button on the remote control again to conﬁrm the last track in the programmed play mode list.

Note: If you try to store more than 20 tracks, the CD track programming will begin again at ‘P01 T00’.

4. Short press the button on the HiFi or on the remote control to play the programmed

tracks.

5. To exit programmed play mode, press and release the button twice on the HiFi or on

the remote control.

Repeat and Random modes

Short press the Repeat button on the remote control is displayed. Continuously press and release the Repeat button to cycle through the available options of :

• Repeat current track is displayed.

• Repeat all (all the tracks on the CD) is displayed.

• Random (random play order) is displayed. Short press the Repeat button one more time to turn off Repeat and Random modes.

Remove the CD

Short press the button on the front of the HiFi or on the remote control to open the CD drawer. ‘Eject’ will be displayed.

Using the CD Player

Put your ﬁngers around the outside edge of the CD and lift off of the CD drawer. Short press the button on the front of the HiFi or on the remote control to close the CD

drawer. ‘No disc’ will be displayed.

Note: If you stop or pause playing a CD for 30 minutes, your HiFi will go to Standby mode automatically.

Caring for compact discs

• Do NOT touch the playback side of the CD.

• Do NOT attach paper or tape or any other material to the disc.

• Fingerprints and dust on the disc will cause sound deterioration. Wipe the disc from the

centre outwards with a soft cloth. Always keep the disc clean.

• If dust or marks cannot be removed with a soft cloth, wipe the disc lightly with a slightly

damp soft cloth and then wipe with a soft dry cloth.

• Do NOT use any type of solvent, commercially available cleaners or antistatic spray for

vinyl as it may damage the disc.

• Do NOT store discs in a place subject to direct sunlight or near a heat source.

• Do NOT store discs in a place subject to moisture or dust, such as a bathroom or near a

humidiﬁer.

• Always store discs vertically in a case, stacking or placing objects on discs may cause

warping.

Aux in mode

Check that your HiFi is in Aux in mode. If you are not already in Aux in mode, short press the Mode button on the HiFi or on the remote control, then use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to highlight AUX. Press the Tune/ Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select.

Using a 3.5mm audio input connection cable (not included), Aux in allows for a quick and easy connection to an external sound source.

1. Connect one end of the 3.5mm audio connection cable to the headphone (or auxiliary

out) socket of your secondary device, connect the other end to the Aux in socket on the back of your HiFi.

2. Press the Play button on your external device to start playback through the HiFi speakers.

3. To gain optimal volume levels, adjust the output volume level on both the secondary

device and on the HiFi.

Note: It is recommended that you unplug the Audio cable from the Aux in socket after you have ﬁnished listening to your external device.

Menu settings

System Settings available in the Menu

There are a range of features and settings available to you within the Menu of your HiFi. You can access the Menu system settings, when the HiFi is on (not in Standby mode), from

any mode:

1. Long press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control.

2. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the and buttons on the remote

control to scroll and highlight System settings. Press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control.

3. A list of features and options will be displayed. Use the rotary Tune/Select control on the

HiFi or the and buttons on the remote control to scroll and highlight a feature or option and press the Tune/Select control on the HiFi or the Select button on the remote control to select or conﬁrm. You can short press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control if you need to go back a step.

4. Available features and options in the Menu, System settings list are:

• Sleep

You can set your HiFi to turn off automatically using the sleep timer. You can choose from Sleep OFF, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90 minutes.

• Equaliser

The sound on your HiFi can be adjusted to suit the type of music or programme you are listening to using the Equaliser settings. If you prefer, you can also choose to set the bass and treble settings within the My EQ proﬁle set up option. The Equaliser options available are:

Normal, Flat, Jazz, Rock, Movie, Classic, Pop, News, My EQ and My EQ proﬁle setup.

Note: If you need to go back a step when using the Menu, System settings, just short press the Menu/Info button on the HiFi or the Menu button on the remote control.

• Network

The settings you entered when you ran the Setup Wizard to connect the HiFi to your router are listed here, together with additional options for you to manually enter your router settings or clear your current network settings.

• Time/Date

You can manually set the time and date, select the Auto update source, set 12 or 24 hour time format, set the timezone and also set Daylight saving on or off.

• Alarms

Set Alarm 1 and Alarm 2.

Menu settings

• Language

You can change the display language of your HiFi, there are 4 options available; English, French, German, Italian. English is the default setting.

• Backlight

You can change the backlight timeout settings. Permanently On, 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 and 180 seconds are available.

You can also set the display brightness of the On Level and Dim Level (Standby). High, Medium and Low settings are available.

Restores the original factory default settings.

Note: All of the HiFi settings, including your internet radio router settings, the DAB station list and all of the Internet, DAB and FM radio station presets will be deleted when you Factory reset your HiFi.

Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing problems with your HiFi, there are some quick and easy checks that you can do, which may help to solve the problem.

Problem Solution

Unable to connect wirelessly to your router:

• Check that you are able to connect successfully to your router using WiFi with another device, such as a computer, tablet or mobile phone.

• Ensure that your HiFi is within range of your router for WiFi connectivity, move it closer to the router, if necessary.

• Check that you do not have other electrical or WiFi products too close to your HiFi, which could interfere with the WiFi signal.

• Check that you have entered the encryption key or pass phrase for your router, ‘exactly’ as it appears, including upper and lower case characters.

• Check that your router has not been set up to restrict access to speciﬁc MAC addresses. The person who set up your network will be able to advise if you need to enter the MAC address of your HiFi to the list of allowed devices on your router. You can ﬁnd the MAC address of your HiFi within the Menu, under System Settings>Network>View settings.

• Check that your network’s ﬁrewall is not blocking the connection from your HiFi.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution

Some internet radio stations are not available:

• The station may not be broadcasting at the time of day that you have tried to listen to it. (Depending on the particular radio station if may be in a different time zone)

• The station may have too many people trying to connect to its servers and their server capacity may not be enough to enable everyone to connect.

• The station is not broadcasting any more.

• The internet connection between the server (often located in another country) and you is slow. Some Internet Service Providers may fail to provide service in some geographical areas. You could use a computer to check if the internet radio station can be received.

• If the radio station connection is intermittent or keeps stopping. Check your internet broadband connection and speed.

• If you are experiencing an intermittent service or high error rate on your broadband connection your HiFi will not be able to continuously connect and play in internet radio mode.

No sound / power: • Adjust the volume using the rotary control on the HiFi or the

‘Vol +’ and ‘Vol -’ buttons on the remote control.

• Check that the speakers are plugged fully home into the sockets on the back of the HiFi.

• Check that the mains power wall socket is switched on and that the HiFi is not in Standby mode.

• You may have headphones connected. Either use the headphones to listen to your HiFi or unplug the headphones.

• Check that you are trying to use the function buttons for the mode that you are in.

• If you are using a Bluetooth connected device or an external sound source via Aux in. Increase the volume on the secondary device and on the HiFi.

Radio reception is poor: • Fully extend the radio aerial to get the best reception and

sound quality.

• Retune the radio station/s

• Try moving your HiFi to another location to see if reception improves.

• Check that you do not have other electrical equipment too close to your HiFi, causing interference.

• Visit www.digitalradionow.com for information about DAB reception in your area.

The function buttons do not respond:

CD does not play: • Check that you are in CD mode.

Unable to pair with a Bluetooth device:

• Check that mains power wall socket is switched on and that the HiFi is not in Standby mode.

• Check that you are trying to use the function buttons for the mode that you are in.

• Take out the CD and check that it is not marked or scratched. Damaged CDs cannot be played in the HiFi or may skip or not rotate correctly.

• Please check that you are using an original audio CD and not a copy. Often copied CDs will not play.

• Check that you are in Bluetooth mode.

• Ensure that you are within range of the HiFi for Bluetooth functionality, 10 metres or less (33 feet or less).

• Move the HiFi and Bluetooth device away from other Bluetooth devices/electrical equipment.

• If possible, turn off other nearby Bluetooth devices or disable their Bluetooth functionality.
