***********PRELIMINARY ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS**************
MODEL TWO/M and THREE/M
THE COMPLETE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR THE NEW ACOUSTAT MODEL TWO/M AND
THREE/M WILL BE AVAILABLE SHORTLY. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE COMPLETE
OWNER'S MANUAL ENCLOSED, REPLACING THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (on Page
2) WITH THESE PRELIMINARY INSTRUCTIONS.
1) Lay the speaker face-up on the carpet, CAREFULLY! DO NOT allow
the speaker to fall to the floor. SLOWLY lay it down.
Dropping the speaker face down may rupture the diaphragm with
trapped air.
2) Remove the three (3) screws from the bottom of the speaker
system. (They are 2" long with a flat washer on each screw.)
Set aside the screw/washer combination.
3) Remove one of the bases from the base box. Place the base
against the bottom of the speaker, such that the
front/top (nameplate is on the front-right hand corner of
the base) of the base faces up, and the three holes line up
with the three holes in the bottom of the
speaker. Start all three long screw/washer assemblies
(through the base holes) into the speakers frame.
4) Adjust base such that the rear of the base is flush with the
rear of the frame. Tighten the three screws securely.
5) Carefully turn the speaker over, so that the back side is
facing up. Set the MK-121 Interface unit on the floor at the
base of the speaker, with the opening of the MK unit facing
toward the speaker.
6) Note the three (3) groups of wires coming through the rubber
grommet on the speaker's firewall plate (lower-rear of
speaker). Visually identify them as: the RED group, with a pin
plug on the end; the BLUE group, with a blue-sleeved hook on
the end; and, the WHITE group, with a plain hook on the end.
7) Refer to Figure 1. in the owner's manual. Follow the procedures
outlined in Steps 5, 6, and 7 in the owner's manual, for
connection and mounting of the Interface unit.
8) Select the two (2) casters included with the Interface unit.
These casters are installed in the bottom-rear corners of the
Interface. When assembled and standing, the system should be
perpendicular to the floor. This perpendicularity will be
determined by two factors:

PRELIMINARY INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUED......
1) The type of floor the speaker is standing on. 2) The
amount of caster stern thread showing.
If the system is to be positioned on a hardwood floor,
or on a cement floor, the caster must be screwed in
all (or almost all) the way into the Interface unit.
If installed on a carpeted surface, the caster will need to be
screwed in only partially. The actual setting will probably
require some adjustment after the speaker has been stood up.
(NOTE: Depending on the particular room set-up, a slight degree
of tilt-back or tilt-forward may be desired. This can be
accomplished also by caster positioning, and will not cause any
problems structurally with the speaker system.)
9) Once the correct caster adjustment has been obtained, the nut
on the caster stern should then be securely tightened
against the Interface chassis.
WARNING:
10) Refer to "Recommended Set-Up Procedure" in the owner's
manual for room placement suggestions.
11) Plug the Interface unit into a live wall outlet. The system
should remain plugged-in AT ALL TIMES for proper performance.
(Please Note: The current draw of the MK-121 Interface unit is
VERY low -- about 5 watts --.)
12) Set the High-Frequency balance pot on the Interface unit at
approximately the two o'clock position for your initial listening
tests. --This control effects frequencies primarily in the last
octave (10-20K Hz) of the musical spectrum-- and the proper
setting will be that which yields the correct degree of "sparkle"
or "airiness" to
the sound. .
13) Repeat the above procedures on the other
The caster will not support the entire weight of the
assembled speaker system. When moving the system, DO NOT
tilt the speaker off its base and roll like a hand-truck!
To move the system, slide the base along the floor with
the caster acting as an assist only.
speaker system.
FUSES: The MK Interface unit employs one 3-amp slo-blo type fuse in
the audio signal path. This fuse should be replaced with
similar value and type ONLY.
