1. 3M supports an assigned protection factor (APF) of 1000 for the S-400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 series hoods which is consistent with OSHA’s APF defined in 29 CFR 1910.134. 3M Technical Data Bulletin #175
describes the test procedures and data supporting an APF of 1000 for 3M hoods and helmets. 3M Technical Data Bulletins are available at www.3M.com/workersafety. In Canada, follow CSA Z94.4 or the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction in your area.
2. Weight is complete assembly (hood plus head harness). Use of optional size reducing pad with the S-600, 700, 800 series will add approx. 6 g (0.2 oz.) to the overall weight.
3. Consult S-Series User Instructions for detailed sizing guidelines, charts and optional sizing pads.
