applications requir i ng exce l le nt elec tri ca l
conductivi ty from the application substrate
through the adhesi ve to the f oil bac ki ng.

shielding in equi pme nt, components, shielded
rooms, etc. The copper foil backing is
solderable and resists ox i dation and
discolorati on.
Shielding Effectiveness
Many factor s determine the true shie l ding
effectiveness of a shielding tape, including
type and thickness of f oil, adhesive type,
intimacy of c ontac t, smoothness of
application surface, strength and frequency of
the EMI signal, etc. Howeve r, usi ng standard
tests and fixtures, it is possible to determine a
value for the atte nuation.
For 3M 1181 Tape, typica l shielding
effectiveness (far field) is in the range of 60dB
to 80dB (30 MHz to 1 GHz).
