220/320/420 Quick Setup
The page describes connecting your SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 system to an analog audio signal output on a TV. This is the correct audio output type for most brands of TV. A digital audio output on a TV may not supply a PCM format signal, the required digital audio format by these three ZVOX models.

ZVOXSoundBase 220/320/420 Connection Guide
The ZVOX SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 models have both analog and digital signal inputs. Internally, the SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 systems use high-quality analog audio
Important Notes:
1
It is not necessary to connect to a TV to use a ZVOX SoundBase system. Any cable box, satellite TV box, DVD or Blu-ray player and other external video source used with a TV has its own analog audio output. You can connect analog audio outputs from up to three separate sources directly to the SoundBase. So even if your TV does not have a compatible audio output for a SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 system, you can still enjoy high-quality surround sound.
processing. In the majority of cases, the analog audio signal output from a TV is the correct output to use with a SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 system.
Here are the audio signal output types
found on recently manufactured TV models:
Analog Stereo Minijack
Audio signal cable needed: Stereo minijack at one
end and a pair of RCA plugs at the other end.
Analog Left and Right RCA phono jacks
Audio signal cable needed: A pair of RCA Phono
plugs at each end.
Optical Digital jack

It is always possible to congure the digital audio output of a DVD or Blu-ray player to PCM format digital audio, which is compatible with any digital input on a SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 system.
Coaxial digital jack (RCA phono jack)

Samsung:
LCD or LED/LCD TVs—Compatible
Most of these Samsung models have a stereo minijack audio output.

Limited Compatibility
Most Panasonic TVs have only an optical digital audio output. This output is compatible with a ZVOX SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 product when an HDMI input on the Panasonic TV is selected.
This output is not compatible with the SoundBase 220, 320 and 420 when the Panasonic TV’s internal internet streaming HD video is selected or when HD video connected from the threaded cable connector is selected.
Toshiba:
Compatible
Toshiba TVs have an optical digital audio output that can be congured for PCM format digital audio.
Sharp:
Compatible
Almost all Sharp TVs have either a stereo minijack or phono jack analog audio output.

Some models are compatible
A headphone jack on an LG TV can be used with ZVOX 220, 320 and 420 models. LG TVs that have just an optical digital audio output will be compatible only if the TV or the video sources can be congured for “PCM” digital audio.
Audio signal cable needed: An optical cable.
An RCA phono plug at each end.
Sony:
