To clean the outs ide c ase o f the DVR, use a clo th li ght ly dampened wi th wa ter ( no solvents) .
6. Provid e pro per v entilation .
The DVR uses a hard d riv e for vi deo s tor age , whi ch generate s heat du rin g operation . Do not block the air vent s (b ott om, upp er, s ide s an d ba ck) of t he D VR that cool dow n the s yst em while runni ng.
7. Do not att emp t to re move the top cov er.
You may suffer severe ele ctrical shock if you rem ove the cover of the DVR. If there a re any un usu al sound s or smells c omi ng from t he DVR, u nplug it immediate ly an d con tact Custome r Ser vic e.
8. Handle D VR bo x car efully.
Dropping the DV R on a ny ha rd surface may ca use a malfunctio n. If the DVR does not wo rk properly d ue to p hys ical da mag e, please con tact Cu sto mer Ser vic e for repair or exc han ge.

Two ty pes of USB dev ices that can be conne cte d to the DV R for backing up recording files are either a po rta ble fla sh d riv e (t hum b dr ive ) or an external hard drive. The DVR run s on a Li nux platform, s o th e dr ive must be f orm att ed for the DV R to recognize it and a W indows PC to read the files. While Linux can theo ret ica lly read NTFS, FAT3 2 is a preferabl e opt ion . If the flash drive o r ext ern al HD D is formatted p rop erl y, simply pl ug th e dev ice i nto the USB port on t he DV R.
