This reminder is provided to call the cable TV system installer’s attention to Article 820-40 of the National Electric Code (U.S.A.). The code provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point of the cable entry as practical.

5. Cleaning

6. Water and Moisture

Do not use this product near water for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool.

7. Accessories, Carts, and Stands

Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the product. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Any mounting of the product should follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and should use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer.

8. Transporting Product

A product and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the product and cart combination to overturn.

10. Ventilation

Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered. 11. Power Sources

This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer or local power company. For products intended to operate from battery power, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions.

12. Line-Cord Polarization

This product is equipped with a polarized alternatingcurrent line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

13. Power-Cord Protection

Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the product.

14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding

If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code (U.S.A.), ANSI/ NFPA 70 provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the leadin wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

15. Lightning

For added protection for this product (receiver) during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges.

16. Power Lines

An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

17. Overloading

Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

18. Object and Liquid Entry

Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.

19. Servicing

Do not attempt to service this product yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

20. Damage Requiring Service

Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions:

a.If the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.

b.If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product.

c. If the product has been exposed to rain or water.

d.If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operation.

e.If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.

f.If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance.

21. Replacement Parts

When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.

22. Safety Check

Upon completion of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper operating condition.

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control

The remote control is powered by two 'AA' batteries. To ensure reliable operation, change the batteries about once a year.

Caution : Batteries installed incorrectly may leak and damage the remote control. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries (for example, standard and alkaline).

1.Remove the battery compartment cover by lifting it in the direction shown.

2.Insert new batteries matching the polarity markings (+ and -) inside the compartment.

3.Replace the battery compartment cover.

Basic TV Setup and Operation

Before operating your TV, make sure the following have been completed.

Your TV is connected to an antenna or cable system: p. 23-26.

Your TV is plugged into a standard power outlet.

Turning the TV On/Off

When you connect the power cord, the TV switches to standby mode and the standby indicator changes to red.

To turn the TV on from standby mode, press the TV/VIDEO, CH D/ E button on the set or POWER, TV/VIDEO, CH D / E or any number button on the remote control.

A channel number will be displayed on the screen. The on-screen display will disappear after a few seconds.

Press the power button again on the remote control, the TV reverts to standby mode.

Selecting the Menu Language

1.Press the menu button and then use D / E button to select the menu shown to the right.

2.Press the G and then use D/E button to select Language.

3.Use the F/G button to select the desired language.

From this point on, the menus will appear in the language selected.

4. Press the menu button to remove menu.

Channel Search

Channel Search memorizes all the active channels in your area. You must do a channel search before you can use the TV.

There are two ways of memorizing channels. You can use either. One is AUTO PROGRAM and the other is MANUAL PROGRAM.

Using AUTO PROGRAM, the TV memorizes the channels in ascending numerical order. If there are additional channels you want to add or delete, add or delete them manually.

Finding Available Channels with AUTO PROGRAM

AUTO PROGRAM searches and memorizes all the active channels in your area so that you can then select a desired channel with the D/ E buttons.

Using the a.prog Button

AUTO PROGRAM the TV using the convenient a.prog button on the remote control.

1.Press the a.prog button.

2.Use the D/ E button to select Normal or Turbo.

3.Press the G or a.prog button to start AUTO PROGRAM. AUTO PROGRAM starts.

If you want to stop auto programming, press the enter (A) button. Only the channels searched up to that time will be memorized.

Turbo auto program works faster than Normal auto program.

Notes

If broadcast signals are of poor quality, try memorizing channels again using Normal auto program.

AUTO PROGRAM stores all available channels regardless of signal type (RF, Cable).

If over-the-air and Cable TV channel numbers are duplicated, use the number buttons (0 ~ 9) to switch between signals as shown:

Using the Auto Program Menu

2.Press the G and then use D/ E button to select Auto program.

3.Press the G button to enter the Auto program mode.

5.Press the G button to start AUTO PROGRAM. AUTO PROGRAM starts.

7.Use the E button to select Name.You can make a channel name.

8.Use the F/G button to select a word position and then D/ E button to enter blank, number 0 to 9, or the alphabet A to Z.

9.Repeat steps 4 to 8 to memorize or erase other channels.

Tuning Channels

Use the D/ E button to easily select the next higher or lower channel then the channel being viewed, or NUMBER buttons to directly select a desired channel.

Adjusting Volume (Sound Level)

Use the G button to increase the volume level or F button to decrease the volume level.

To turn off the sound, press the mute button.

The word Mute is displayed (it’s not displayed in the Caption mode). Using Mute is convenient if you need to answer a telephone call.

To restore the muted sound, press the mute button again or vol F / G button.
