For the Configuration Without the Radio

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that can cause undesired operation.

Federal Communications Commission Compliance

FCC Digital Emissions Compliance: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. This Class B digital apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian Interference-Causing Equipment Regulations. This device requires a radio license unless it is used totally inside a building. (The user must obtain this license.)

Battery Recycling Information

This product contains a Lithium Ion (Li-ion) battery. When the battery reaches the end of its useful life, it should be disposed of by a qualified recycler or hazardous materials handler. Do not mix the battery with

For the Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth-Compatible Wireless Module) Configuration

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules and with RSS-210 of Industry Canada.

The radiated output power of this internal wireless radio is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, this Bluetooth radio must be used in such a manner that the antenna is 2.5 cm (1 inch) or further from the human body such as with a belt clip or shoulder strap. Do not use the printer in an unauthorized manner.

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Intermec could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

For the Compact Flash and PCMCIA Card Modules (802.11b) Configurations

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and with RSS-210 of Industry Canada. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that can cause undesired operation.

Use of the PL4 with the Compact Flash or PCMCIA card radio module meets the FCC requirements for radio frequency radiation exposure when worn in the standard configuration. In this configuration, which applies whether you use the belt clip or shoulder strap, the face of the printer where the media comes out is facing away from you. You must use the standard configuration when wearing the printer.

The printer with this radio option has been SAR tested. The maximum SAR value measured was

1.1 W/kg (Compact Flash radio) and 1.04 W/kg (PCMCIA card radio) averaged over 1 gram.

Agency Approvals: See user’s guide instructions for handling, charging, and replacing batteries. Failure to follow those instructions can result in personal injury, fire, or battery explosion.

This product complies with EN 55022, EN 55024, and EN 60950 as required by the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC as amended by 92/31/EEC and by the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC as amended by 93/68/EEC.

Additional EMI/RFI Compliances

This device meets the Class B limit requirements of CISPR 22. This device complies with the Australian EMC Framework as required by AS/NZS 3548.

Note: This product, tested in its base configuration, complies with the emission limits of FCC Part 15 Class B as well as CISPR 22 Class B, as mentioned above. However, the user should be aware that when this product is used with some accessories, it may only be compliant with Class A limits of both standards.
