OMNII™ POD INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
These instructions apply to the following standard and slim pod upgrade kits for Omnii™ (kit models ST9100, ST9101, ST9102, ST9106, ST9107, ST9108, ST9109, ST9204, ST9205, ST9206, ST9208, ST9209, ST9210 and ST9211).
Warning: The use of optical instruments with this product will increase eye hazard.
Use of controls or adjustments other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. Do not modify an imager, or scanner, module in any way.
The installation of a pod must be performed using the appropriate anti-static devices. If unavailable, discharge static from your body by touching a grounded metallic object before opening any covers on the unit.
Always disconnect Omnii from any power source (battery and A/C power) before servicing any component.
1. Preparation
Important: Back up any data in RAM first, since it will be lost when the unit is turned off.
1. Use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the blanking plate, or existing pod, to the unit.
2. Remove the blanking plate, or pod, from the unit.
2. Installation of Pod Flex Cable
1. Use a T6 Torx screwdriver to remove the two topmost screws on the front of the unit, above the display.
2. Use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the eight screws holding the back cover to the main unit.

3. Gently pull the back cover away from the main housing, being careful to not put stress on any cables connecting the two parts.

4. Disconnect any cables between the back cover and the main unit.

5. Insert the large end of the pod flex cable to socket J13 on the main logic board, as shown in Figure 2. The cable should be installed with the exposed contacts facing the top of the unit. If no cable has previously been installed in this socket, there may be a piece of “dummy” stiffener material present in the socket, which must be removed before inserting the cable.

6. If a camera is installed in the back cover, repeat the instructions in step 5 to secure the camera flex cable in socket J9 of the main logic board.
7. Insert the pistol grip trigger/speaker wire harness in the white socket on the left side of the main logic board.
8. Fit the back cover in place against the main housing, ensuring that no cables are caught in the seal. Make sure that the free end of the pod flex cable can be accessed through the pod opening.
9. Install the eight T10 Torx screws in the back cover of the unit and torque to 5 inch-pounds, in the order shown in Figure 1.
10. Install the two T6 Torx screws in the front of the unit above the display and torque to 2.5 inch-pounds.
3. Installation of Pod
1. If installing a pod without a data capture device (kit ST9100), proceed directly to step 4.
2. Connect the scanner flex cable to the socket on the pod assembly.
3. Swing the spring clip over the socket, then press down and forward on the tab to engage the lock.
4. Seat the pod in the opening.
5. Install the four T10 Torx screws securing the pod to the back cover, and torque to 5 inch-pounds.
6. Install the battery.
