The safety aspects of this appliance comply with accepted technical
standards and the German Appliance Safety Law. However, as manufacturers we also believe it is our responsibility to familiarise you with
the following safety instructions.
Electrical safety
• The new appliance must only be installed and connected by a registered specialist.
• Repairs to the appliance are only to be carried out by approved service engineers. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may
cause injury or serious malfunctioning. If your appliance needs repairing, please contact your local AEG Service Force Centre.
Please follow these instructions, otherwise the warranty is void in the
3
event of damages.
• Flush-mounted appliances may only be operated after being installed in suitable installation cabinets and workplaces which conform to the relevant standards. This ensures sufficient protection
against contact for electrical units as required by the VDE [Association of German Electrical Engineers].
• If a fault occurs in the appliance:
– switch off all the hotplates,
– switch off or remove the fuse for the hob.
Child safety
The hotplates become hot as you are cooking and frying. Therefore,
always keep small children away from the appliance.
Safety whilst using
• This appliance may only be used for cooking and frying food in the
home.
• Do not use the hob for heating the room.
• Take care when connecting electric appliances to sockets nearby.
Do not allow connecting leads to come into contact with hotplates
when they are hot.
• Overheated fats and oils catch fire quickly. You should supervise
cooking when preparing foods in fat or oil (e.g. chips).
• Switch the hotplates off after each use.
24

Safety When Cleaning
Switch the appliance off before cleaning. For safety reasons cleaning
the appliance with a steam jet cleaner or high-pressure water cleaner
is not permissible.
To avoid damaging your appliance
• Do not store items on the hob or use the hob as a work surface.
• Do not operate the hotplates if there is no pan positioned on them or
if the pan is empty.
• Take care that no liquids containing acids, such as vinegar, lemon or
scale remover, come into contact with the hob as this can produce
dull spots.
• Do not allow items and materials that can melt onto the surface to
come into contact with the hob, e.g., plastics, aluminium foil or
cooking foil.
2 Disposal
Disposing of the packaging material
• All parts of the packaging can be fully recycled; foil and expanded
polyurethane parts are appropriately identified. Please dispose of
packaging material and, if appropriate, your old appliance properly.
• Please follow the national and regional regulations and material
identification (material separation, refuse collection, waste disposal
sites).
Information on disposal
• The appliance must not be disposed of with household rubbish.
• You can obtain information about collection dates or public refuse
disposal sites from your local refuse department or council.

Using the Rings
Please note the information for switching the rings on and off and for
3
regulating the heat setting that is provided in the operating instructions for your built-in oven or switch box.
General notes:
• High-speed hotplates heat more rapidly than normal hotplates. They
are identified by a red spot, which will, however, disappear after a
short while as a result of heating and cleaning.
• To prevent condensation and rust formation please do not allow hot
pans to cool on the hotplate or put wet pan lids on it.
Do not allow items and materials that can melt onto the surface to
1
come into contact with the hotplates, e.g., plastics, aluminium foil or
cooking foil.

Uses, Tables and Tips
Pans
• The better the pan, the better the results.
• You can recognise good pans by their bases.
The base should be as thick and flat as possible.
• When buying new pans pay particular attention to the diameter of the base. Manufacturers often give only the diameter of the upper
rim.
• When cold, pan bases are normally bowed
slightly inwards (concave). They should never
be bowed outwards (convex).
Energy saving tips
2
You will save valuable energy if you observe
the following tips:
• Always place pots and pans on the hotplate before switching it on.
• Soiled hotplates and pan bases cause increased power consumption.
• If possible, always fit pans with a lid.
• Switch off the hotplates before the end of
cooking to make use of the residual heat,
e.g., to keep food warm or for melting.
• The pan base should be the same size as
the hotplate.
• By using a pressure cooker cooking times
can be reduced by up to 50%.

Cleaning and Care
Clean the hob after each use when it is warm to the touch or cold us-
3
ing hot water and washing up liquid. This will avoid spillages becoming burnt on.
1. Remove heavy soiling with fine scouring sand or a scouring pad.
2. Wipe away residues with a damp cloth.
3. Then warm the hotplate a little and leave to dry.
4. To keep the hotplates in good condition occasionally rub in a little
sewing machine oil and then polish with absorbent paper.
Important: Do not clean the stainless steel hob surround with scour-
1
ing sand or a scouring pad as this causes scratching!
Use only suitable stainless steel cleaners and –polishes for cleaning
stainless steel hobs. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions.
General information
• Heat the hotplates briefly after cleaning to dry them.
• Do not put any damp or wet items on the hotplates.
• Dry pots and pans with a cloth before placing them on the hotplates.
The stainless steel hob surround may discolour slightly during cooking
3
due to thermal loading. This is a physical response.

1 Safety Instructions for the Installer
• A device must be provided in the electrical installation which allows
the appliance to be disconnected from the mains at all poles with a
contact opening width of at least 3 mm
Suitable isolation devices include line protecting cut-outs, fuses
(screw type fuses are to be removed from the holder), earth leakage
trips and contactors.
• In respect of fire protection, this appliance corresponds to Type Y
(IEC 335-2-6). Only this type of appliance may be installed with a
high cupboard or wall on one side.
• Drawers may not be fitted underneath the hob.

100 mm clearance beneath the hob.
• The installation must guarantee shock protection.
• The kitchen unit in which the appliance is fitted must satisfy the sta-
bility requirements of DIN 68930.
• All cut surfaces must be sealed with a suitable sealant to protect
against moisture.
• On tiled work surfaces, the joints in the area where the hob sits must
be completely filled with grout.
• Ensure that the seal is correctly seated in the frame and that it is

SERVICE
In the “What to do if …” section a number of malfunctions are listed
that you can rectify yourself Look there first if a fault occurs.
Is it a technical fault?
If so, please contact your customer service centre. (You will find addresses and telephone numbers in the section “Customer Service
Centres”.)
Always prepare in advance for the discussion. This will make diagnosis of the problem easier and also make it easier to decide if a customer service visit is necessary:
Please make a note of the following
information as accurately as possible:
• What form does the fault take?
• Under what circumstances does
the fault occur?
Prior to the telephone call it is important that you make a note of the following appliance code numbers that
are given on the rating plate:
• PNC code (9 digits),
• S No code (9 digits).
We recommend that you record the code numbers here so that you always have them to hand:
PNC . . . . . . . . .
S No . . . . . . . . .
When do you incur costs even during the warranty period?
• if you could have remedied the fault yourself using the fault table
(see section “What do I do if ...”),
• if the customer service technician has to make several journeys because he was not provided with all the relevant information before
his visit and therefore, forexample, has to fetch spare parts. These
multiple trips can be avoided if you prepare your phone call as described above.
