NX250P - Active Speaker - 200w, 12 inch / 1 inch
The NX250P offers the best value in a 12-inch and horn active loudspeaker enclosure. The enclosure is the same proven design as the NX250 passive loudspeaker and uses the same rugged and reliable speaker components. The biamped 200-watt power module has a minimum of controls yet provides maximum versatility making the NX250P the ideal solution for many applications.
A 3-band EQ, XLR balanced microphone input as will as an XLR / TRS 1/4-inch balanced combi-jack line input on the power module means the NX250P can be easily connected to any source and quickly EQ balanced for the room. An XLR balanced line output allows multiple NX250’s to be linked together for use in an array or for easy distribution around a large room when used as repeater cabinets.
The horn/tweeter amplifier uses two-tier class A/B technology, allowing the horn to produce clean transients to keep up with the high output of the woofer. The woofer, or low frequency, amplifier uses class-H 2-tier amplifier technology. This achieves a lighter weight, more efficient amplifier with higher headroom (and lower operating temperature). Each amplifier has it own limiter to prevent distortion caused by clipping.
The NX250P enclosure, like all enclosures in the NX loudspeaker line, has been designed for maximum versatility. The trapezoid box is ideal for mounting in arrays, or for use as a monitor cabinet (with well-protected inputs and controls). The NX250P can easily be used in any orientation, and close to walls, floors and in close arrays with multiple cabinets. Particular care was taken designing the components to reduce extraneous heat production.

Mic In

The balanced XLR microphone input can be used with any dynamic microphone.

Line In

The balanced XLR/1/4-inch combijack input can be used with any line source such as a CD player or an electronic instrument with a line output. It is always recommended to use balanced sources. This helps prevent the risk of hum or buzz associated with unbalanced connections, especially if the cable is long or the source is operated from a separate AC power connection. Unlike the Mic In, the Line In does not have it’s own level control so connection to the Line In and the Mic In at the same time are not recommended.

Mix Out

To allow operation of multiple NX250P
loudspeakers, from one source, this line
output is provided. It should
be connected to the Line
In of the next NX250P
in the chain. When
connecting multiple
NX250P loudspeakers,
the last NX250P in
the chain should be
turned off first (and on last). Each NX250P should be turned
on or off before the
previous NX250P in the
chain. This will eliminate
unwanted on/off noises.

Mic Gain Control

The microphone level control adjusts the mic level of the loudspeaker. It also adjusts the mic level on all NX250P enclosures in the chain (if multiple NX250P enclosures are used). The main Level control should be set to maximum when the microphone is being used.

The Main level control sets the level of all sound coming out of the NX250P enclosure. Unlike the Mic Gain control, this control does not affect the signal coming out the Mix Out. In systems using multiple NX250P enclosures the Level control on each cabinet sets the volume for that cabinet. When used with a microphone connected to one NX250P at the beginning of the chain the Level control will normally be set to maximum unless it is desired that a particular cabinet be set quieter than the rest. When a line source is used the Level control will set the volume for the enclosure. If there are multiple NX250P enclosures in a system, it will be necessary to set the Levels separately. If using a mixer for the line source, the mixer should control the level of all the NX250P enclosures. (When a mixer drives the NX250P enclosures, the Level control should be set to maximum). If there are multiple NX250P enclosures it may be desirable to set the level control of individual enclosures to less than maximum (if it’s desirable for that enclosure to be quieter).

Treble, Mid and Bass Controls

These controls affect all the sound coming out of a particular NX250P enclosure. These controls do not affect the sound at the Mix
Out. In a system with multiple cabinets it will be necessary to adjust the bass, Treble, Mid and Bass controls on all individual enclosures.

Signal / Limit LED

This dual LED illuminates green when signal is present and red when limiting.

Shield Switch

The Shield switch disconnects the ground connection on the Line In. This may help
prevent hum or buzz under some circumstances.

Power LED and Switch

The Power Switch turns the power on and off for the NX250P enclosure, the green LED will illuminate when the power is on also indicating a properly functioning fuse.

Voltage Selector Switch

Select the proper voltage for the geographical region in which the NX250P will be used. The unit is set for 115V when used with the standard North American line voltage. For European operation set the unit to 230V. If in doubt of the line voltage please contact your local Yorkville dealer.
