ROW UNIT ADJUSTMENTS
1. Examine the double disc opener blades, Do they measure more than the minimum diameter as specified by the planter manufacturer? Are the blades adjusted properly?
2. Inspect the seed tube and the INSIDE scraper for wear, replace if necessary.
The seed tube guard protects the seed tube and acts as the inner scraper for the opener disc blades. Remove the seed tube and check for wear. Excessive wear on the seed tube indicates a worn seed tube guard. Replace the seed tube guard if it measures 5/8” or less at the lower end. A new seed tube guard measures approximately 7/8”.
3. Adjust the depth of the unit-mounted
attachments, i.e. Residue Managers, Conservation Coulters, and Fertilizer Openers.
4. Align the closing wheels equal
distance to the center of the row.
5. Adjust the fertilizer shoe for depth
and distance from the seed furrow.
