WARNING
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury or even death from electrical shock, short-circuiting, damages, fire or other hazards. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Only use the voltage specified as correct for the device. The required voltage is printed on
the name plate of the device.
• Use only the supplied power cord.
• Do not place the power cord near heat sources such as heaters or radiators, and do not
excessively bend or otherwise damage the cord, place heavy objects on it, or place it in a position where anyone could walk on, trip over, or roll anything over it.
• Do not open the device or attempt to disassemble the internal parts or modify them in any
way. The device contains no user-serviceable parts. If it should appear to be malfunctioning, discontinue use immediately and have it inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
• Do not expose the device to rain, use it near water or in damp or wet conditions, or place containers on it containing liquids which might spill into any openings.
• Never insert or remove an electric plug with wet hands.
• If the power cord or plug becomes frayed or damaged, or if there is a sudden loss of sound during use of the device, or if any unusual smells or smoke should appear to be caused by it, immediately turn off the power switch, disconnect the electric plug from the outlet, and have the device inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
• If this device should be dropped or damaged, immediately turn off the power switch, disconnect the electric plug from the outlet, and have the device inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
CAUTION
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical injury to you or others, or damage to the device or other property. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Remove the electric plug from the outlet when the device is not to be used for extended periods of time, or during electrical storms.
• When removing the electric plug from the device or an outlet, always hold the plug itself and not the cord. Pulling by the cord can damage it.
•Turn the unit ON or OFF using only the front-panel POWER switch. Turning the unit ON or OFF by plugging or unplugging the power cord, using a switch on a power tap, a breaker switch, or similar external means can result in damage.
• Before moving the device, remove all connected cables.
• If this device is to be mounted in an EIA-standard rack, leave the back of the rack open and make sure that it is at least 10 cm away from walls or surfaces. Under these conditions two of these devices can be rack-mounted directly on top of each other. Inadequate ventilation can result in overheating, possibly causing damage to the device(s), or even fire.
• Do not use the device in a confined, poorly-ventilated location. If this device is to be used in a small space other than an EIA-standard rack, make sure that there is adequate space between the device and surrounding walls or other devices: at least 10cm behind and 10cm above. Inadequate ventilation can result in overheating, possibly causing damage to the device(s), or even fire.
• Do not expose the device to excessive dust or vibrations, or extreme cold or heat (such as in direct sunlight, near a heater, or in a car during the day) to prevent the possibility of panel disfiguration or damage to the internal components.
• Do not place the device in an unstable position where it might accidentally fall over.
• Do not block the vents. This device has ventilation holes at the front and rear to prevent the internal temperature from rising too high. In particular, do not place the device on its side or upside down, such as a bookcase or closet.
• Do not use the device in the vicinity of a TV, radio, stereo equipment, mobile phone, or other electric devices. Otherwise, the device, TV, or radio may generate noise.
• Before connecting the device to other devices, turn off the power for all devices. Before turning the power on or off for all devices, set all volume levels to minimum.
• Be sure to connect to a properly grounded power source. A ground screw is provided on the rear panel of this device for maximum safety and shock prevention. If the AC mains outlet is not grounded, be sure to connect the ground screw to a confirmed ground point before plugging the device into the mains. Improper grounding can result in electrical shock.
• Do not insert your fingers or hand in any gaps or openings on the device (vents etc.).
•Avoid inserting or dropping foreign objects (paper, plastic, metal, etc.) into any gaps or openings on the device (vents etc.) If this happens, turn off the power immediately and unplug the power cord from the AC outlet. Then have the device inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
• Do not rest your weight on the device or place heavy objects on it, and avoid use excessive force on the buttons, switches or connectors.

ENGLISH
Do not turn the POWER switch OFF and ON in rapid succession. Wait at least 5 seconds before turning the POWER switch ON after it has been turned OFF. The device to which power is being supplied may not operate properly in some cases.
Precautions for Rack Mounting
If this device is to be rack mounted and transported frequently – such as in touring applications – be sure to support the rear end of the unit with mounting hardware that has been made to match the size of the rack used. Refer to the diagram on the right when preparing the mounting brackets. Please note, however, that only one of the required pair of brackets is shown in the diagram. You will need to two symmetrical brackets to support the device.
The PW800W has been specifically designed for use with Yamaha professional audio equipment. The PW800W cannot be used with devices having incompatible power ratings, connectors, etc. Refer to the owner’s manual supplied with your device to determine if it is compatible with the PW800W.
Use the cable supplied with the device to be connected to connect the PW800W to your device. When parallel-connecting two PW800W units use the optional PSL120 Power Supply Link Cable to connect the second PW800W to the main PW800W unit.
Yamaha cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper use or modifications to the device, or data that is lost or destroyed.
Always turn the power off when the device is not in use.
The performance of components with moving contacts, such as switches, and connectors, deteriorates over time. Consult qualified Yamaha service personnel about replacing defective components.

Controls and Connectors
Front Panel
1 POWER ON/OFF Switch
When this switch is on the PW800W supplies power to the connected device. First connect the PW800W to the device to be powered using the cable supplied with the device, then plug the PW800W power cord into an appropriate AC outlet.
Never obstruct the cooling vents located on the front and rear panels of the PW800W.
Rear Panel
2 DC OUTPUT Connector
This connector supplies power from the PW800W to the connected device. When using parallel-connected PW800W units, this connector connects to the DC PARALLEL INPUT connector on the main PW800W unit.
Always use the cable supplied with the device to be connected to connect the PW800W to your device. A second PW800W should be parallel-connected to the main PW800W only using the optional PSL120 Power Supply Link Cable. Rotate the connector ring to the right to connect, or to the left to disconnect.

3 DC PARALLEL INPUT Connector
This connector is used to connect two PW800W units in parallel. Two PW800W’s can be connected in this way to ensure uninterrupted failsafe operation in the even that one unit shuts down. Use only the optional PSL120 Power Supply Link Cable for this connection. Rotate the connector ring to the right to connect, or to the left to disconnect.
4
AC IN Connector
Connect the included power cable here. First, connect the power cord to the PW800W, then insert the power cord plug into the AC outlet. Securely clamp the AC power cord using the supplied cord clamp to prevent accidental disconnection from the AC IN connector.
Be sure to use the included power cord. Use of other cords may result in malfunction, heat generation, or fire.
To attach the cord clamp:
5 GROUND Screw Terminal
For maximum safety be sure to securely attach a confirmed ground line to this terminal. The included power cable has a three-pin plug, so the unit will be properly grounded if the AC outlet used is grounded. If the AC outlet is not grounded be sure to properly connect the GROUND terminal. Proper grounding not only ensures safety, but it also guarantees minimum noise from hum and interference.
